I don't think it's a bad idea as you people think. Your biggest problem would be keeping the ears to stay on Mario's head instead off flopping around like a cape. And then all you'd have to do is find the byte that you need to disable cape flipping and you're set. MikeyK already told me how to disable flight, and it's just one byte(see disabling cape flight, the topic, below.)

If you found a way to make the rabbit ears work while flopping around like a cape and found the cape attack byte, a simple graphics change would be all you needed. But yeah, if this guy doesn't have the aptitude to use Lunar Magic he probably doesn't have the aptitude to use a hex editor.

It would pretty much be like editing the TSA of something like on the NES. You would have to search for the tiles in a hex editor and then have the tiles made for the ears. I don't know how to search for SNES tiles though, probably depends on the game.

Just a thought... correct me if I am wrong...

If he wants the ears to act like they do in SML 2 he needs to use ASM... if he just wants the ears he does not.

I had the rabbit ears in my hack for a little while. I didn't extract them from the GB game, I did it from the GBA game (that way its in 16 colours). However, I didn't keep it because of the way the cape works in SMW, it looked stupid. They were also kinda crunched up because of the height of mario. So get the GBA version and extract the graphics. Then replace them over the SMW graphics where they fit in. Good luck with this..

Kyouji hates you all.

At any rate, you don't extract them to the graphics file; that's not how it works. In a tile editor, you would need to load up GFX32.bin and edit in the ears in the correct areas and insert the GFX in to the rom (File > Graphics > Insert GFX to ROM) And you'd have to make an ASM hack that puts them over Mario when he gets the appropriate powerup. So, my advice would be to go look at a tutorial for 65c816 ASM (SNES ASM).

Then why did you make this thread in this forum... It has nothing to do with Super Mario World hacking... No?

I think what he wants is to make the rabbit ears a powerup in SMW.. which would take quite a bit of asm if you wanted it. And the way it sounds you have no experience in the field, so good luck.

I think what hes trying to say is that he wants to know how to get them from the GB game, put them in an gfx file for Lunar Magic and make them so mario is wearing them...

I think.

if so, you need to get the ears by opening the GB game in an editor(YY-CHR, TLP, etc) edit them so they look good, open the gfx file containing mario(not sure which one) and edit his head so it the ears fit on his head.

I'm not against him or anything, he goes on my nerves.
Anyways DAVALLR, if you want to make a Racoon Mario like mikeyk did, you have to change the GFX for Feather Mario and use ASM.

He's not stupid... Well that stupid. He's just kinda confused at what's going on. Although I say that he isn't afraid to make threads. That's for sure. I just think that he has a lot of or shall I say to many questions to ask. So it's just best that we try ansewering them at least instead of going against him all the time...
