The tracks were very nice, great design on most of them. That's pretty much what kept me playing when I had to go through all 16 tracks in a row.

MK:DD was quite fun. A few things sucked but I liked it a lot more than MK64, mainly because the tracks were more exciting. But one thing that ticks me off is that MK:SC was the only one to have a 'Quick Run' mode. Every Mario Kart should have that. I hate having to play through 3 levels I don't care about for one fun one.

Nintendo let Rare go long after a sequel could have been considered. I think that would have ended up being Diddy Kong Pilot (released as Banjo Pilot), if I recall. (Then again, that game was delayed forever and ever before release - I need to try it. Apparently it's a basic racing game, which isn't horrid.)

One of the problems is that the game was part Nintendo with Krunk the Kremling and Diddy of course, and part Rare with characters like Conker and Banjo, who they took with them. The only possibility, and this would be a stretch, is if they made a GBA game, and I don't think that would be really possible with them being owned by Microsoft and only making GBA games through THQ, and they allready made Banjo Pilot which was originally gonna be a DKR type game but with planes only.

Well that doesn't really go to say another developer could take over the project, and Nintendo themselves couldn't.

Starfox?
Donkey Kong?
etc.

Remember when Nintendo sold their stake in Rare? Yeah.

Not sure if it beats out the Rush games. (in my opinion, those rocked)

But seriously, where's that Diddy Kong Racing sequel the 2nd ending promised us?

I agree with everything Ziffski said.

1. Mario Kart DD wasn't that great, in my opinion.
2. F-Zero GX fell compared to the past F-Zero games. (SNES one is still my favorite, and where the hell were the theme "remixes"? Nowhere, I missed Big Blue =\ )

Still, I didn't really see this coming, it seems interesting. Hopefully it'll be better than the past Nintendo racing games.

A Mario + Gran Turismo Sim Mode would totally rock though.
Upgrading to Red Shells! ...

They could probably pull off something like that, putting various side characters as things like what Ziffski said, and I'm sure they could implent things like upgrading tires and such without making it too realistic, they could do things like make mushroom, fire flower, and star grade tires, which would affect things like turning and speed, and they could make a mode to customize a car some, with different parts, little dingly starman air freshenersm and possibly things like a little sniffit machine gun type thing that would cause cars to ever so slightly turn and swivel.

Mario Kart Underground.

Have shy guy mechanics, etc. That would be cute.

I was thinking more like a Gran Turismo simulation mode - pick a character and upgrade the kart while completing various cups and challenges. Due to the nature of the Mario Kart games, it wouldn't have to be such an extensive mode; just something that can sap away a few fun hours.

Sim mode?

They haven't even done everything that they can possibly do with Mario Kart yet (online racing, sim mode, etc.) so I certainly can't see how someone can be SICK of the series.

I found Double Dash to be quite the treat myself.

To be honest, after playing F-Zero GX, I'm filled with a boiling rage towards that series. It just wasn't fun. At all. Now the ones released on GBA/SNES/N64 felt great.

O.o'' F-Zero GX was just as fun as the others if you ask me. ZOOOOM. Certainly not so unbelievably different from F-Zero X that it made it completely unfun, that's for sure. Rather harsh.

Nebetsu make no sense. Play Mario Kart 64 lots yet you're sick of it? Shouldn't of played it, then.

I'm just sick of it. I played Mario Kart 64 way too much and now I'm sick of even seeing the name Mario Kart.

Twisted Metal is fun. Its not really racing though, your just in a vehicle. Diddy Kong racing was actually a fun game too, but not too many people like it. MK is definitely the best racing series. MK could so be Mortal Kombat.

The F-Zero series, I'd vote for. Very enjoyable racing series. But other than that I can't think of anything. Most other racing games go for a degree of realism, that often makes them boring (Gran Tourismo, for example).

MK: DD did somewhat disappoint me, but not enough for me to not love it. Mario Kart is one of the best (and only good racing) series there is. Honestly, name me 1 more driving game that is actually fun. Not popular. FUN.
