Releasing a hack * Release hacks in the form of an IPS patch. Full ROMs are not allowed, and the link will be removed from your post. For details on IPS patching, see below. * Include at least one screenshot of the hack. Several places allow you to host screenshots, such as Geocities, Photobucket, and the Hack Archives. These services are free to use, so take advantage of them! * If you need somewhere to host it, Geocities or the Hack Archives can be used, or Zophar's Domain. (Follow instructions on the latter two sites; for Geocities, register an account and upload a ZIP with the hack in it) --- IPS Patches The reason IPS patches are allowed and not the ROMs are because IPS files contain only changes made to the files, not the files themselves. To make an IPS patch for release here, use a IPS utility. Lunar IPS's homepage is currently down, but you can find many more here (Zophar's Domain) Creating an IPS patch This is fairly easy. To create an IPS patch, the patcher should ask for the original ROM. BE SURE TO USE THE ORIGINAL ROM, NOT THE HACK.. After this, is should ask for the edited ROM. THIS IS WHERE YOU PICK THE HACK. If you do not pick the hack and the original correctly, anyone who tries to use your patch will end up with a corrupted, unusable ROM. Patch wisely. Weasel, in the previous announcement |

Releasing a hack When you release a hack, I request you include at least one screenshot. You know, some people would like to see what the hack looks like before downloading it. Generally, everyone I've talked to likes to see screenshots with your hack announcement. When you announce a hack, I don't mind not having screenshots, but it's still suggested. Creating/Applying IPS patches If you're going to be releasing your hack, it must be in the form of an IPS patch. Releasing it in the form of a rom is unacceptable (since it's illegal, obviously  ). When you make an IPS patch, please, use Lunar IPS and not SNEStool. I don't know the details, but from what I know, SNEStool is crappy and doesn't work properly all the time.When you go to apply a patch, use LIPS again. It's just better, ok? |
