Haha. Perfect! You're smarter than all of us! Technically, Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a game in itself, which means that you can have up to multiple choices. Nice one!

Here is what I don't like about the later games, such as the Zero series, and ZX.

1. Capcom crams all of this dialogue into the games.

Honestly, if I'm going to do all of this reading, I might as well get a book. Notice how fun and original the older games were, and they didn't have so much dialogue. And they were able to tell the story through the gameplay. And it's not just Capcom that does this. Too much dialogue. It's not necessary. In fact, a lot of the cutscenes aren't necessary either. It's like they are trying to turn the game into a movie.

Remember Final Fantasy IX? That game was chock full of dialogue. You don't really start getting into the game until 40 minutes through, because of all the scripted actions and dialogue. Where as, Final Fantasy VII, the balance is perfect.

2. All the graphics are high-tech, and quite frankly, dull.

It has gotten so out of hand, that every area is high tech, and uses the same graphics scheme. The Mega Man X series had high-tech areas, but nothing like this. Literally, every area in the game is detailed, and it's like they go out of their way to do it. If you are going to make everything high-tech, keep it simple. Don't sketch detail wherever you go.

3. The bosses are ridiculous. Plain and simply, they are lame. And again, too detailed. I can barely make out where the boss' face is! They are adding too much detail to everything. Have you ever had a hard time making out where the face is on a certain robot boss?

Those are just some. Anyone agree/disagree?

hacking 10 levels in MM1 is better than 32 levels in SMB lol!
Exactly! But I'm going to edit all levels for last after all ASM stuff. I'm on my own now and got to be more creative.

Try SMB3. I'm never hacking this game ever again after Dark Mario is done. The insane amount of work involved is just ridiculous. And what sucks even more, is yesterday, I designed an awesome level, which I planned out fully on graph paper, only for it to corrupt a previous level I already did, because I exceeded the limitations for the original level.

Posted by NetSplit
Yes, I removed the score a long time ago. I always thought it was worthless, and it's taking up vital ROM space I want to use for other things (and I've been opting for a style more in line with later Mega Man games). As for the 2, it's a lives indicator. This is necessary because I redid the weapon menu, so it no longer displays lives; the only way to know how many lives you have is to check this counter, and lives have been capped at 9 rather than 99. I also have an indicator beneath the weapon energy bar that serves a special purpose.
Nice. Personally, when it comes to lives in games, such as Mega Man, I think lives are pretty much pointless. Because if you die and get Game Over, you don't really lose any progress you've already done, which means that the lives are again, pointless. I think it was Mega Man IV I was playing, where I had a few E-Tanks, and just 1 life left. I think I was able to keep all of the E-Tanks I had, after getting Game Over, so I was able to go back in the level and rack up more of them. So, in a sense, having lives gave me an advantage, rather than a disadvantage. Lives are pointless, but I still think its cool that you are able to display them underneath the health bar. Nice work there.

As long as they don't make the game in 3D... 3D Mega Man = Instant Fail.

Megaman Legends would like to have a word with you.
Screw Mega Man Legends. Don't get me wrong, it could very well be a good game, I don't know, I never played it, and if you like the game, thats cool too. But what I'm getting at is, 3D Mega Man is not Mega Man. 2D Mega Man is Mega Man.

Here is a sneak preview of my new hack, Super Mega Man II.

New Title Screen, I also cut out the intro sequence, and Mega Man's warp.

New Boss Names. Not yet sure if they will be different bosses or not.

You can now toggle between all weapons via the select button.

Also, making its way to Mega Man II, is the W Tanks.

Will restore a single weapon's energy completely, on the spot.

I have planned, a lot more major ASM hacks, which will be shown in the trailer, coming soon.

I'm just showing this, because the title is definately going to be changed. I didn't put much thought into the title at first, because I just wanted to have fun with this thing, and to me it sounded cool, but its going to have to be better. Right now, its called Mega Man: Fully Loaded. I set up a page for it. As with Dark Mario, you can find it in my sig for quick access.

Thanks Insectduel. Well, hacking the Japanese RM2 isn't necessary. This US version, has two difficulty settings, the hard one is the one the Japanese version uses, which is Normal for them. I guess they decided to give the US gamers an easier version if they wanted. But, there is RAM address in this game, which is specifically for the difficulty levels. If I wanted to make it like the original Japanese version, I could. But I like the fact of a having an easier difficulty. I think the player should be allowed to have multiple options. If you guys played Mega Man ZX Advent, you are going to love this hack, because I'm borrowing ideas from it. The only difference is, mine won't have a huge chunk of dialogue, and so much high-tech graphics.

I have read a lot of mixed opinions about this movie. I was in the mall the other night, and I finally had the chance to buy a brand new copy, on DVD. I had tried Best Buy a few weeks earlier, but they didn't have it. The movie was only $10, which was great. So, I finally picked it up. I have memories of that movie, when I was kid. But honestly, I can't see why some would actually hate this movie. Personally, I love it, and I think it is one of the best movies ever made. There is a lot going on in the movie, and I love the actors that portray the characters. Dennis Hopper is funny as hell. And the infamous part 3/4 of the way in the movie, when they finally get their classic Mario Bros. suits, that we know them for. I don't know why some hate it, but I'm glad there is a such thing as an opinion, because I love the movie. And, if they were to make this movie today, it would suck as hell. They don't know how to make good movies these days. That being said, is there anyone here besides myself that actually likes the movie?

This will be another overhaul hack, levels, graphics, features. Those are the only kinds of hacks I like, and the only kinds of hacks I do. I'm currently working on the story right now, and the MM2 game engine is being heavily altered. With Protoman, I'm not sure what I'm doing with him yet. Sorry. But I appreciate the patch you offer. Thanks.

Look what I found: http://web.archive.org/web/20011224040833/smb3c.darkmazda.com/dragoneye/mmven.html

I can't believe that some of the original Mega Man Vengeance screenshots (MM2 Hack) are still on the web. The graphics are horrible, mostly it being palette changes, but back then, this was acceptable. I love this Way Back Machine. And I'm so thankful I was able to be a part of the ROM hacking community when it really kicked off back in 2000. Good old days, that will never come again. I miss TEK Hacks also.

The last thing I remember about this hack is that it was being redone as a homebrew game or something. It's a pity it was never finished.
Yeah, first it started as a hack of MM2. Then, Sephiroth3 joined DES, and they decided to do it with MM3 instead. They added ASM hacks to Mega Man, which allowed him to act like Bass. He could double jump, and rapid fire in all directions. They even added bullet clipping, and a whole new introduction sequence, as the original game had no intro sequence. Then, a couple years later, they decided to scrap all of that, and make the game a homebrew. I'll never forget how many people kept saying it was a hack, and Vagla had to keep ensuring them it was a homebrew.

That Bass sprite is from that Neo Geo Pocket game, Rockman Battle & Fighters (J). I'd love to see a complete hack using that sprite...
I had no idea that was a sprite from an actual Mega Man game. Thanks for sharing that Googie.

DahrkDaiz, this is a little off topic, but I was wondering if you have the Luigi Seasons beta you made a few years ago? The early version of Coin Quest, where you could change water to ice, etc.? I was looking around the web for it, but I don't think it is anywhere to be found. I just want to play it, because I liked the concept. If anyone has it, please PM me. Thanks.

No, you did one time. First, it was Luigi Seasons, then it was Red Coin Quest, then it became Coin Quest.

You could step on a P-switch, and enter through the door, and it would change the season. Water turned to ice in the winter. In the summer, there was no water. And in the dungeon, a P-switch would light up the area, and eventually dim over time. That was the beta I was referring to. Probably too old, that it doesn't exist anymore huh?

I found the page the screenshots used to be on: http://web.archive.org/web/20050517142207/board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=1471

Way to take us back to the past(to play the shitty games that suck ass?)
I don't know what you mean by that. Not all of the games were shitty. Remember Zelda Challenge? GameMakr24 is the reason I decided to get into ROM hacking. I was inspired by his work, and I wanted to be a part of the community. And back then, the community was booming, not like today. Every day Acmlm's Board must have had at least 30 members on at any time.

Knowing Capcom, who knows when they'll show something from the game. It could be eternity. Hopefully this year though.

Here are 20 screenshots from levels in both World 1 and 2. I didn't get enough ASM hacks done to show a trailer, and since I want to get started on my Mega Man hack, I'll just show the screenshots for now. Next time I'll show a trailer.

EDIT - Screenshots removed.

Kthx no.

I'm already sick of these WANNABE ROCK STAR #FOO games.
Ditto. If I wanted to play music, I'd go out and buy an instrument and practice. Since when did the game industry stop being the game industry, and turned to these stupid music games, like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and SingStar Pop. To me, its just another way of saying, we can't think of anymore original game ideas, so lets just make musical games. The same thing with the Wii. We can't come up with good games anymore, so lets try to do something cool with the controller, and make games based off of that. The game industry really has become shit.

Thanks guys! Really, it means a lot. Part of me felt bad though, because I wanted to have a trailer ready to show, but it just didn't happen, so the least I could do was show some screenshots.

So, I take it that my graphics are better than before huh?

One day, in the peaceful city, lots of reploids suddenly go maverick, and start destroying the city. The reploids unaffected are running for their lives. One of the reploids, a teenage boy, falls into the underground sewer, and thus, his journey begins...

You play as Dash, the young teenage reploid. The game has an intro stage, which is the underground sewer that Dash fell in. You start out with literally nothing in your arsenal. There is no Mega Buster, because he has none built in him. He is just a normal reploid. This means, you have no attacks. You can't attack any enemies, and thus must dodge them until you stumble upon a DNA chip. Once you aquire this, you can transform into a Mega Man, and back, at any time. When you are a Mega Man, you can fire your gun (not M. Buster), but it uses ammo. However, you can easily reload your gun by tapping the d-pad.

This game takes place after Mega Man ZX Advent. Once Dash aquires the power of Mega Man, his journey truly begins, as he battles the mavericks, and finds out what is causing their transformations.
