Seeing Ice Penguin's Zelda II stuff has put me in a Zelda II hacking mood.

I'm starting out with a graphical facelift.

Before

After

Don't get me wrong Ice Penguin, I think you are a very talented ROM hacker, and I do like what I see. I just didn't like the idea that you had to do extra work to get the jump ability.

Yeah, they're still curtains, just giving it a revamp. Do you feel that they should look better? I want them to look good, so if you think there is something that could be improved, feel free to let me know.

Thanks. How is this one?

Once I get done with perfecting this area, I'm going to start working on the Level 1 Dungeon.

Nice to see that ROM hacking has started picking up a little bit. More screenshots in this past week than there has been in months.

I need a sprite made for me, for my Zelda game, but obviously I'm no sprite artist, which is why I'm asking on here:

This is what I need:

I need a 3-frame sprite of Link throwing. I am going to be making it so Link can throw bombs, but I need a throwing animation for him. Obviously based off of his original graphics.

Please let me know if you can do this for me. I will credit you in the game credits. Thanks.

All I will say for now is that it is no longer a hack.

Multimedia Fusion 2.

I'm using the NES resolution, and I'm programming this game to act just like Zelda II does. It is so much fun, because there are virtually no limitations. I can do whatever I want. And I can upgrade the graphics quality without being limited to what I can do in the ROM. And when it is done, it will be released in executable format. No ROM involved. The screen you see is how big the window will appear, but I will include the option to make it full screen, downsize it, and custom controls configuration.

But I as I said, I AM following the NES format. This includes the resolution and proper tile alignment. The only thing that won't be as exact is the colors, as I'm tweaking them to optimize graphics quality. But I don't see too much of a problem with that, as people can make custom palettes and load them into the emulators.

Thank you for trying. I appreciate it. I like the first set better, but can you make his fist in the third frame open? If not I may be able to do it, should just be a few pixels. Thanks for your help.

Well regardless of which one is better, I like having the freedom to do more without all the hassle. I still like ROM hacking, it's just I'm trying to actually do what I want without having to do go through the whole damn ROM and doing all sorts of ASM hacking just to get one simple thing to work. This takes a load off your back.

It's awesome to see that you're working on something again, RetroRain. I always look forward to whatever you're putting together if you have something in the works! Keep it up and best of luck!
Hi Quick Curly! I meant to reply to your post earlier. I appreciate the comments. I'm glad to see that you're still around too. I always look forward to seeing your stuff as well.

You guys are great game designers!

EDIT - I may or may not be porting it over to Game Maker, because I'm currently having difficulties with the events in MMF2, and this isn't the first time I've had a problem with the events in MMF2. I agree that MMF2 is not perfect, and there is a lot that can be improved on, but I might check out Game Maker again and decide for myself which one is better.

You can make a perfectly good NES game in Multimedia Fusion 2, check the YouTube link below. This guy was working on a game called Super Mario Bros. Fusion. It didn't follow all of the rules of the NES, as he used midis for music, and some other things, but he did release everything he had worked on up to this point.

Check this video out of his game, it looks like an actual NES game with a Mario/Zelda hybrid engine. It was part of the inspiration for my game.

It was on TV today, and I always laugh at this part where Kirk and his friends get all confrontational with "God".

I'm slightly curious as to why the other crew member with him is acting so credulous.

Don't they get basic logical thinking education in Starfleet? Like, something that will teach them to know better than to jump at the first distinctly earthling-looking bearded patriarchal figure with a deep voice in admiration.
Haha. Probably not.

"Then here is the proof you seek." *Zaaaappppp*
