Before we let this thread go to rest, I am proud to say that there has been a big difference since the time I made this thread, to now. We got the new banner made and put up, and there definitely seems to be an increase in activity here. So, I would like to thank everyone who chipped in to help take the board in a better direction. And if you can place a link to this board in your sigs on other gaming sites, it would help promote the board and this board will get even more activity. Great job guys.

Activity and number of users are not part of a proportional linear function...
Then come up with one instead of being a jerk about it. Was your post really necessary?

That, or a simple byte change, or two. I would recommend doing it with FCEUXD. That way you get the practice. Using a tool like this, you won't learn anything.

A preview of Scorch Man's level from my MM2 hack. All-new original graphics, from the ground up. What do you think?

I could toss you some better fire tiles if you want, they'd take up less space too. They're made up of 2 16x16 tiles instead of 4.
No thanks. I asked you if you could do some sprite work for me one time, for my SMB3 hack, and you didn't bother to reply back. Even if you couldn't have done it for me, a reply would've been nice.

Haha

Well, if that wasn't a sudden slap in the face I don't know what else would be. Maybe he didn't notice you asked him?
He noticed. It was a Private Message filled with details. It was just a favor. It didn't bother me that he couldn't do it for me, but I asked him to let me know if he couldn't do it. That way I could ask someone else instead of waiting around. He never responded back. But later on, he posted Castlevania screenshots in this thread. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against him, I just think that if someone asks you for a favor, the least you can do is respond back.

Hey guys, I could use some opinions on these new graphics I have made. I think I have really outdone myself this time. I was able to create original high-quality MM9-style graphics on my own. Is there anything you see that could be touched up, besides the fire of course?

@Logical Operand

These graphics don't look like state of the art but at least it's decent.
Then I have to make them state of the art. What could be improved? I might be re-doing the oil tanks, and the side poles. The ceiling might need some work too.

A tent for a gym? Sheesh
How about commenting on the other designs he did? Sheesh. I'm telling you. Some of you guys on this board. A guy could spend a year on a project, that he works his ass off on, and you don't compliment on any of it, instead you comment on the one thing you don't like, like you just did. It's so annoying.

I could, actually, but then I'd just rechew what Kirby said. I could try to be original but I must agree even with Bukkarooo; the grass gym looks best, the fighting gym sucks. The rest is just basic recolor with some signage pasted on. The water "gym"? I actually had to look twice to notice the droplets!

Therefore, "sheesh".
Too many people on this board are too negative with their replies to other people's work. I'm not talking about criticism.

Example:

PERSON A: Here is my hack:

Graphics - 100%
Levels - 100%
ASM - 100%
Character Sprites - 70%

PERSON B Replies:

Your character sprites suck!

Meanwhile, Person A spent a whole year on this whole project, stayed up late, did overnighters, hacked and hacked away, put blood and sweat in the graphics, levels, and ASM, which are awesome, and someone replies "Your character sprites suck!" I mean, I don't get people.

It's okay to criticize what you don't like, but a least appreciate the other work they put in. That's all I'm saying.

Person B:

"The graphics, levels, and ASM are awesome! I think you did a great job! However, your sprites need some work. I think they are horrible, and need some work. Otherwise, not bad. Keep up the good work!"

Person B:

"Your sprites suck!"

Which statement does a better job at making the person feel like their year's worth of work isn't wasted?

You already have some competition:

Though if it pushes you to work harder I suppose it's a good thing.
Sorry for the bump, but when I saw this video, I just had to comment. Perhaps the most interesting SMW hack, in my opinion. I think its awesome. Reminds me of a better Zelda II. And, this is my first post in this forum!

I am going to be doing a lot of ASM coding later, which made me think of this question. Which Mega Man game was coded the best? I'm talking 1 through 9 of course. It can be your opinion or factual. I read somewhere that one of the games was coded real well. Was it Mega Man 3?

I suppose this is more of a ROM hacking question. It's more of a technical question. Each game plays very similar, but each game has its differences. I'm sure the code is not the same for each game, and I'm sure some programmed methods are better in one game than they are in another. For example, I was watching Panophobia's MM4 glitch video, and there is flaws in the game's code. When Megaman uses the wire, it cancels Dust Man's suck attack. And there was even a video I watched where if you use the Rain Flush after you defeat Dr. Wily, it kills Dr. Wily, and the game doesn't continue. Now, lets say that MM4 was coded a little bit better, than these glitches wouldn't happen. I'm looking for the Mega Man game that is coded the best. I read somewhere, I don't remember where, that Mega Man 3 was the game that was coded the best. I could be wrong. I'm looking for more of a technical answer. But I was also curious to see if anyone had an opinion on which Mega Man game they thought was coded better. Perhaps they had hacked the ASM code before, and found the code to be programmed very well. You guys follow what I'm saying?

In Megaman 6, a lot of the routines were coded from scratch. Where they could have used the same routines and data formats as MM5.. for some reason they didn't. I think it might be the most decently coded one of the NES games.
MM5 seems to be better put together than MM4, but i haven't studied it so much.
Which reminds me, MM6 is the only game to have a detailed boss preview screen.

This should be the final version.

It looks good. But, what I would do (because I like to have things perfect ), is close the gap between Pass and Word (PASSWORD), and move the red arrow back one space. This is so minor, that you don't have to bother, but if it was me, I would do that.

If you really want to make the whole title screen balanced, lower the title logo, and move the options up. There is too much free space in the middle there. The results would be this:
