Instead of them making a MGS5 and ruining the series, they should just give the fans what they really want, Portable Ops 2. The sales for that game were great, and they said they'd think about a sequel if the sales did good, which they did. Instead, we get an expansion to the online system, Portable Ops Plus. They could still create Metal Gear hype if they make a sequel Portable Ops 2, that features Big Boss, and the birth of Solid Snake. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

You're using SMB Utility to do all of your levels, right? ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Posted by NetSplitNetSplit, I'm going to be coding an auto-reload function for those people that don't care to press up all the time. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

You make a valid point. And that controller just made me laugh out loud. But, I'm not going to take it out, just because I already programmed too much to this engine I got going. To take it out, would cause a lot of confusion for me. All of my code is packed tight in a specific block of free space that MM2 has. I coded too much to disect my code and take out the ammo portion. But, I can still keep it my way, and to get around this, if you don't like it, you can turn on auto-reload in the options. So, I still get to keep my ammo system in, but if you don't like it, you don't have to use it, in a sense. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

I began working on my 3rd level, the underground abandoned subway. You have to manuever through a lot of rocks and sand, but you will eventually stumble upon railroad tracks. This level will be completely pitch-black when finished, and you will have to toggle the flashlight in order to light up the whole screen.
I did a lot more graphics work on this level. Most of the graphics work is finally done now. I used all TSA slots. Enemies are now being placed. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Posted by CeliceThanks man. That means a lot to me. I just want to make a cool and fun MM game for everybody to enjoy! And it's nice to see another MM hack in the works. Good luck with it. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Thanks man. I'm glad you like it. But you do know that music is from MM9 right? I didn't make new music yet.
Right now, I am currently coding the flashlight ability. If you hold down and press select, you can toggle the flashlight on and off. When the flashlight is on, you will have a flashing icon in the lower-left portion of the screen, indicating that it is on. All I have to do is finish coding the palette changes. And that shouldn't be too hard. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Yes. Some stages, like the one above, will have a dark or completely black palette, and the flashlight will load the palette for that stage, so it will light things up. If you don't turn on the flashlight, you won't be able to see where you are going. Everything will be black, or dark. Haven't decided on that yet, but most likely it will be black. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

There will be an auto-reload function, which you can turn on and off at the title screen. So, it will be as if the system never existed if you choose. But, there is a reason I coded things this way. Mega Man will be able to do the things that you couldn't do normally, as in all MM games, he can shoot his main weapon, use special weapons, etc. However, Dash will be able to do a thing or two that MM can't do. Perhaps jump a little higher, or maybe slowly be able to refill his own life meter, or maybe you can only use the flashlight as Dash, and not as Mega Man, forcing you to stay as Dash in the dark levels, and avoiding enemies. The way I coded this new engine, opens up the door to a lot of new gameplay possibilities. It also requires you to think a little more, so rather than just being able to fly right through the game, you have to do a little work. And in the last levels of the game, you will lose the DNA chip, and have to go un-armed for a while, until you find a new chip. I coded everything precise. There are checks for addresses everywhere.
I think people will enjoy this when it is done. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Posted by PSlugworthThanks dude. It's funny that you mention it, because while I was at work today, on my dinner break, I was writing the code for the auto-reload function (all I have to do is put it in the ROM now), I'm thinking about scrapping the whole Mario/Zelda levels. I have a lot of neat ideas that I want to do, and these levels would be interfering with it. Plus, I can make my hack more serious and like a true addition to the MM series, which is what I wanted to do from the beginning. So, I'm glad I only did 1 Mario level, and I might scrap it later on. Oh, and just like MM9, my hack will feature 1 female robot master; Puzzle Woman. I decided to keep the traditional robot masters, as opposed to the mavericks of the X series. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Visine is awesome, and I would highly recommend it to anyone hacking MM1 & 2. It does everything. If you don't have DOS, just get DOSbox. The editor is perfect. It's the one I'm using. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

There is over 300 bytes of new ASM code I added to the game so far. I'm thankful for all the free space Capcom left me. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

The editor looks cool. I like the fact that it is being done on a Mac also. But I can't really comment on much, because I never played this game before. Otherwise I would have commented a while ago. This is one of those games I have to get to sometime. But, I wish you luck on the editor. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Seeing as how Capcom is paying a little more attention to the fans, maybe we will get Mega Man X9 in the classic 16-bit style as well. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

No, I didn't expand the ROM. I don't think I'll have to, with all the free space that is currently in it. What I wish I had more free space of, is the PPU. All of the sprites space is taken. If I had a lot more space, instead of just $00-$FF, there is a lot more I would do. It sucks being limited by the NES. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Well, 300 is what it is at now. I still have a lot more coding to do. I'm no where near finished. And by the way, not to be rude, but I am curious as to how you were able to display the weapon icons next to the health bar in MM Ultra 2, even though the icons are on a different graphics page? I sent you a PM, but I never got a reply.
SMB3 does something similar too. It displays the status bar with tiles that are not even in the graphics page currently loaded into the PPU, such as being in a level. How does this work? If I knew, I could use it to my advantage. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Do you think that is how he did it in MMU2? Because if you open up MM4, and look in the PPU Viewer, you can clearly see that the graphics bank changes. The weapons icons are only in the PPU when you open up the menu. But when you go back to the level, the PPU loads the level graphics again. Yet, he was able to display those weapon icons on the level. I couldn't figure that one out. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Cool man. Thanks for the information. Oh, and MMU2 isn't out yet, but you can see by looking at the trailers for it on YouTube, what I am talking about.
And I agree with NetSplit about the whole Japanese hacks thing. We do need a thread like that. And I have never heard of Rock n' Maxx before either. I sent Insectduel a PM, because I searched on Google, and everywhere, and I couldn't find where this hack is located. If it is on a Japanese site, that could be the reason why. But I would certainly like to see it. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

CHR-RAM sucks. If my game was CHR-ROM, I would have gotten the graphics swap done already. That's the only reason I have coded it yet, because it's going to be a big pain. Anyway, I pulled the screenshots and trailers for now, because I'm doing major work on the game, and they are no longer valid. The nostalgic mario/zelda levels idea have been scrapped, and finally, Dash has a full head of hair. I'm not showing anything more for a long time now. It's time for me to work hard on this hack and get it done. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |
