Here is something I started recently that may never be finished.
It's Shadow of the Ninja, and it's being converted to a Castlevania game.

Ok this is a game I might actually work on until completion. It is going to be a smash brothers type game, and will include characters from all different games and systems.

Namely:
Donkey Kong, Mario, Bowser, Kuros (from wizards and warriors), Link, Orphius from Battle of Olympus, Samus, Kid Icarus, Mega-man, WonderBoy, Master Higgins, and Jajamaru.

Most of them I've figured out how to duplicate, some I may not be able to get on here. I'm using the game Little Magic to build it, but it will only include fighting and not the strategy portion.

I will take suggestions on who should be in it, in case I've missed some obvious characters.

I thought of a way to have all of Simon Belmonts animations in there, but I still need to figure out how to move the weapon "damage" blocks around, so I can have some weapons do damage from further away. (Such as Simon's whip... or Bionic Comando's arm)

And it may be a trade up to have either Kuros or Simon. I'll try to do both.

Okay I have found the code that allows me to change every attribute of each character (inc. speed, jump height, frames-of-animation-per-move, location of collision blocks, etc)

So basically this means that Simon Belmont will have his whip, and this will not only be a graphics hack, but each character will play almost exactly like their original game. Oh joyous day.

and Considering this Simon is from Wai Wai World, I'm surprised he doesn't suck beyond belief. The Simon Belmont's from the Castlevania Trilogy didn't look right because of their small heads. So this cartoony one fits right in with Link and the other characters.

I altered a lot of his graphics though so it animates like Dracula's curse, and his speed and jump height will be from Dracula's curse.

I didn't think it was possible at first but I did it anyways.

Here are the definite players so far

Sonic, Shadow, Simon Belmont, Link, Orphius, Kuros, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and Samus.

After that there are still 7 more slots

I am still deciding on whether to put Kid Icarus, Kirby, Yoshi, Master Higgins, Bonk, and others.

Kirby is problem of course cause the sprites I'd rip would only be 2x2 where all the others are at least 4x2

In order to make Kid Icarus I would need to learn to make projectiles.

I fixed some of the colors and added detail when Sonic is standing.

What the problem is is that there are 4 players that use the same tiles and behavior for player 1 and player 2. All the others I can make unique for player 1 and 2 (Tiles and Behavior).
I chose from all the characters Sonic and Shadow, because they behave alike the most and are very similar. I did this mainly because I wanted Mario and Luigi to play completely different.


Can you think of any 2 popular characters that would use a simple palette swap??

If not you can just call this guy Red Sonic.

EDIT:

Okay maybe I will make Sonic as unique character, and have Player 2 be the real Shadow (or maybe someone with totally different behavior like Knuckles or...... ???? who from Sonic ????)

Then for the shared tile slot I'll use Yoshi I think, multi colored Yoshi's are fun!!

I think Peach and Daisy is a great idea, I'll use that thank you.

I see what you're saying about Kirby and Pac-man (from Pac-Land right?), I thought about using them but in the end it would be a waist of a slot. I wish the sprites for Kirby we're bigger, just looks too small compared to the others.
Also Roy and Marth have small sprites as well in Fire Emblem.

PS: Green Hill Zone is on my list with a spinning bonus level Ring and everything.

Marth is bigger than 16x16. He's about the size of the other characters so far.

Roy is in an entirely different style. You could try Alm from Fire Emblem: Gaiden, but he only resembles Marth in general body-build.


ooooo... neat!

I didn't know about these sprites. I am certainly going to use Marth as a unique character now, especially since he was my favorite Smash Bros Character.

Edit: after looking at these sprites again, it may be very difficult using them since the detail depends so much on the black background. I will try.

I've been making a lot of progress on my hack so far.

New Discoveries:
*I can now add projectiles although they are not perfect. (Simon will throw his holy water)
*I am no longer forced to have duplicate characters (more variety)
*Also I am redrawing more characters to be like their arcade version. (Athena, Arthur)

Okay here is Athena, I re-drew the graphics over from the arcade version because the NES graphics sucked and were missing some frames of animation.
I am having a bit of trouble with the Athena graphics because of how heavy the black is when shading. Does this blend in well with the other characters?

ps. and yes I am aware of the black lines left around the crown, besides that what needs fixing?

If you want to have all characters in the same style, it wuld be better if all had the same amount of frames for the animation. Just look at your sig.



I definitely do not want all the characters in the same style, it defeats the purpose of this hack. The idea is to have all the players play and control like their original game, and then pit them against each other in a single game. If you want to play a game where all the characters are changed and given different styles than their original, then play Smash Bros. I think the blend of characters looks fine, thank you for your input though.

Here is a hack I released a few years go, it is by far the most advanced Nuts and Milk ASM hack ever created.

For the first time I am releasing the notes I took when making this hack. Although they may not make much since at first, once you play around with these values you should start to understand.

This is still the same DEMO I released a long time ago. Perhaps if a level editor was made, I would complete this hack.
