The rule of thumb have been for awhile that it's ok to bump as long you bump with somewhat slightly useful.

...most bumps have been something along "Nice h3x durr".

Still, kinda neat seeing vector-based animation with something that isn't... flash. Some hope that SVG would replace flash at least partially.

Pretty sure NSMB was not pre-rendered. If it was pre-rendered, it'd look a lot better.
I'm quite sure it would look worse animation wise. Sometimes pre-rendered animations can lead to a insane number of frames (See item 7).

Always could ask Acmlm if we may go back to "Acmlm's Board"... just kidding.

One of the advantages the old name had is that it faciliated googlability due to "Acmlm" being a rather unique combination of letters. If new naming is done, that feat probably should be kept in mind.
Heh, I actually seen projects named random letters only so it could be easily find over Google.

We had discussions about a new name, but it never went anywhere. Most people were fine with Board 2 as I saw it...

Yeah, I'm quite sure I saw someone pointing out that this hack won't run on a real NES due to the tricks it uses being rather... not so working on a real NES.

I'm not sure what makes it not NES friendly though. From the sounds of it, it's something related to the PPU.

Got to go with maybe... the rational optimist in me would say "fuck yeah, go for it" while my technical realist half would make the point that it'd likely be prone to bluescreens, malicious software infection and generally full of bugs...

So yeah, there's been talk about this before in IRC, but I think it's about time it gets started.

Basically, it's a huge group hack that anyone can join. Think of like how a Wiki works, with some bureaucracy to keep the crap away.

We would need:
People who do the overworld (probably not too many, single person might suffice)
People working with graphics
People working with assembly hacks
People working with the music
People who contribute with levels

There's really no story at this point. We probably just go for something randomly lame.

And before you think this won't ever finish, yes it will. 2ch have pulled this off successfully. I make sure we will too, but we also need to plan it before getting to work.

Heh, I just don't want to wind up with too many indoors levels now. Then, I could imagine parts of the tower being a giant glass house so maybe. My original thoughts was something about having the tower being the last world, than being the dominant part of the game.

And yes, I would really focus on levels first.

Depends wholly on the emulator actually.

Some emulators have accuracy as a goal (Nestopia) while others don't care about it at all (hello Nesticle).
