I theorized for a moment that the arsenic bacterium would be totally unrelated to other life, but seeing how they can apparently live of phosphor as well... apparently not.
No ET, but it's a nobel prize worthy find. Edit: Branching it into it's own thread... ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

News from NASA directly, apparently a bacteria found in Mono Lake California is able to use arsenic in the place of Phosphor.
I theorized for a moment that the arsenic bacterium would be totally unrelated to other life when I heard about it on Slashdot, but seeing how they can apparently live of phosphor as well... apparently not. Erf, minecraft multiplayer was broken even more and I hadn't touched it since.
Been on a indie game run. Been replaying VVVVV again and also got Super Meat Boy. Really liked the little Parody and Counter-parody thing that's been going on. Also I been enjoying Recettear heavily. The RPG Shop simulator thing. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Now that we have quite powerful computers with lots of juice, I easily value accuracy over speed. But what emulators are the most accurate?
Right now I consider Nestopia the most accurate emulator for emulating NES, and bsnes the most accurate SNES emulator. But I might be wrong with Nestopia, especially as the project been inactive for awhile. However I'm curious what is considered the most accurate GB, GBA and N64 emulators, especially the open source kind. (As useful fceux is as a tool emulator, I wouldn't call it accurate btw) ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

The bacteria probably have some kind of mechanism that counters the DNA destroying nature of arsenic. You can use arsenic in the place of phosphor, it's just not as "strong" (which is why it causes DNA to fall apart). It seemed to be one of those things the scientists didn't know for sure yet.
They honestly didn't give too much insight into the actual structure of the arsenic DNA, or what makes them hold the arsenic better together. Then again, judging the conference, the scientists dosen't seem to be sure of the exact mechanics yet either so we find out with time. :/ ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by AaendiThe more you know, the more you know how little you know. Which is why less experienced programmers tend to be so cocksure. But it goes for any skill generally. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

The cart handle is intriguing. It's really that hard to pull out the carts on a Atari 2600? ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Get to a fairly remote location, would be very tricky but less zombies to handle the better. Hoping I'm immune, then I get pills. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

You should still get a copy blackhole89. Then we can run a little server and have fun or something.
Half the fun I had in this game was creating with friends. Oh yeah is there demand for a minecraft server? I can probably set up one rather easily. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I been using this for awhile, and I forgot that Firefox 3 ever existed. It's much faster than Firefox 3, and pretty much catched up to Google Chrome and Opera, with even more Javascript engine improvements in the pipeline. At this point I'm actually surprised that Mozilla isn't pushing for a stable release soon as possible. :/ Most really popular extensions works in Firefox 4 (noscript etc). I so far gotten all old plugin works when I forcingly activate but there is probably a exception I hadn't found yet. Main features are the way faster JS engine and the hardware accelerated rendering. It used to be a Windows 7 only feature but is now in Win XP with Direct-X 9, and I think it's going to be/already is added for other platforms. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by KawaLate reply, but it can be easily transfered over into Java. Hell I can make a Java version of the example code if I'd bothered to. Posted by DarkBoyHackerPretty much how I would do it myself. Kawa's solution is good for tilebased games (like advance wars) but not for games like Super Mario World where things are object-based. I done this a few times already, just not with hacking related projects. :/ ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

If you're referring to the way the UI is organized, I'm quite sure that both Opera and Firefox is ripping off Chrome. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Well, if the DSi version is based on the Wii version... it depends really.
The main criticism I heard about the Wii version is about the music not being as good. And it feels silly with a game going more "HD" when the orginal game was supposed to be a bit retro. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by smkdanI heard about claims regarding Nintendulator, but have anyone compared those two emulators? Maybe I should check it out for myself, though I would only be able to compare how the emulators handle PAL ROM vs my real PAL NES. The idea of MESS is weird (putting emulators together) but if it's accurate I ought to check it out I guess. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Of course, if you don't have good enough computer, bsnes will give out a rather stuttery sound.
As far I can tell, the sound emulation in bsnes s pretty much perfect otherwise. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I'd would prefer a closed knit server over a fairly open one, I'm already OP to a few unrelated servers already myself.
I can probably just host a minecraft server from home since the game isn't too high bandwidth as far I saw? ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Hmm, yeah that is true. It needs at least 512 MB of RAM last I checked, with 1 GB being the recommended amount of memory. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org
