But aren't everybody masturbating on the internet? You can't really tell in the first place.

Chances are someone are doing said activity while reading this thread.

In the end, how much damage does the spammers do currently? They make a annoying thread or two, then disappear, then it's just a matter of trashing the thread.

Now if they were literally posting 100 threads in a row... ;

It's just lost it's touch. Plus, how do we know this 3D will be amazing? It could be that low quality stuff that just make things look like paper on your screen, but pop out.
In 3D games, 3D scenes are rendered twice, since humans see the world with two eyes after all. So there won't be a cheap pop-up effect like in "3D comics", some cheaper movies or pop-up books (which is mostly caused cause of the 3D effect being added afterwards).

Of course since scenes are rendered twice, you basically halve the framerate for the 3D look. PC solutions for adding 3D to current games have the same problem, but to be honest we're reaching the point of diminishing returns anyway so 3D is the future.

Hopefully the 3D is used in less gimmicky ways over the years too. New tech have always been used for gimmicks, such as that many Beatles songs have the diffrent instrument divided on different channels (which tbh, is annoying to listen on while wearing headphones without mixing the channels slightly, and therefore I'm glad it's phased out).

You can create memory leaks in Java, but in general they are usually not as subtle as C/C++ memory leaks, and are fairly easy to debug (as long it's not happening within some native code).

There were however a recursive light bug within in minecraft recently that supposedly been fixed now. Maybe that caused slowdowns for you?

Edit: Notch confirms there is a bug that makes CPU usage spike.

Have you never seen an actual alcoholic, then?
The most uncomfortable situation I been in my life, involved a middle-aged alcoholic. In the middle of the day, when I was commuting to a university lecture. Guy was not only social in the creepy way, he was insisting on pulling on my books, slapping at my knee (for no reason at all wtf) and all that.

So yes, I believe the claim with alcohol being on top after that encounter.

Although I've seen that song that turned into a bit of an internet phenomenon, I can't see I have seen the actual game that spawned it before at all. Am I right in the assumption this is essentially some heavily simplified/dumbed down tower defense game?
Judging most of my friends, it's one of the few casual games that appeals to "hardcore/traditional" game crowd. The game starts off really simple but get's more challanging.

I enjoyed the game, and this is from someone who actually usually hate tower defense games.

He was acting rather confused and violent actually.

On the other hand, I had bit of a schadenfreude when I realized he bought several train tickets, all wrong and took the train going in the wrong direction.

I rather get in touch with DD before even touching the codebase, possible he continued some of the development offline.

I know C# and I longed for a Renaissance involving SMB3 hacking, but Dahrkdaiz probably knows his way around SMB3 more than I ever would do.

In Minecraft (SMP), my friends and I are building a massive city. It is far from spawn so it is griefer-proof. I don't know the exact route to it, but if I /homed i think I can find my way back. I may get screenshots when we have more progress.
Wouldn't it be easier to use server plugins that prevents random people from destroying/building things?

Well, SCSI was intended to be pronounced sexy originally.

Spoiler:
While I hadn't doublechecked myself, the Slashdot comments says that it comes from a satirical Brazilian blog.

Everyone I know pronounces SCSI as something along the lines of "scahzee".
"Almost a full day was devoted to agreeing to name the standard "Small Computer System Interface," which Boucher intended to be pronounced "sexy", but ENDL's Dal Allan pronounced the new acronym as "scuzzy" and that stuck." -- Wikipedia

Personally I rarely stumble upon SCSI (I seen the port RL, used virtual SCSI drives at some point, and that's about it), so I hadn't had a need for pronouncing it.

ComFireD DD IS DEAD and KP90oO is taking over the project!one1!

< /sarcasm>
If it for (some idiotic reason) turn into drama, it would more likely be a chanting of "KP9K is stealing DD's work".

Which would be a ridiculous claim since the project is open source to start with. Open source was made to allow forks in the first place. :/

I'm willing to provide some help when necessary in the programming field, even if I tend to find C# to be the work of the devil and all that (I know it quite well, just don't like it).

Problem with common sense is that it's a rather contradictory term, as common sense is very different amongst people.

I met people who believe for sure that ghosts/magic/gods exists cause it's just COMMON SENSE, and then refuse to follow up with a proper explanation.

And what insights? A lot of the ones floating around are very incorrect I find, such as the classic "Only 10% of the brain is used while awake" claim.

Anyone replayed any old classics lately?

I recently got the urge to replay Super Mario Bros 3 and I did... in nestopia! It's fun watching the game slow down when there is lots of enemies on the screen, most older emulators emulated the NES a bit too fast.

Ailure: I am pretty certain that the source that's out is outdated. Not sure what version it is, but I know DD's got the source for a newer build.
Better to wait on him then. For what we know, DD might be trying to finish Reuben before releasing the latest source.

I thought you used FCEUltra?
That was ages ago. FCE Ultra is kind of a archaic emulator nowadays, even if FCEUX works good for debugging etc).

Also after using NTSC emulation, most NES emulators looks oddly plain graphically. xD

I whistle if I'm bored and none else is around to hear it.

I'd guess i'm fairly decent, but most people find whistling annoying so...

I did stick with Winamp during all these years due to what I'm used to, although I'm open for open source alternatives. Moving to Foobar seems silly as that would be moving from one proprietary alternative to another. :/ I'm not the kind of user who makes playlists as I been oddly content choosing the file I want to play rather than using playlists.
