Found this yesterday while hacking Snake Rattle n Roll for NES, and I don't think it's too widely known since I heard zeroes mentions on it. And while using tiles as letters isn't anything new, it's still sneaky in how they done it.
In the map of Snake Rattle n Roll, one level spells out Nintendo Gameboy! Both are hard to make out as words ingame as you only see one letter at the time at most, and the elevation making it less obvious. Nintendo Gameboy! (included a screenshot from my alpha level editor on the first screenshot as it's easier to see Nintendo in the editor than on the landscape) Oh yeah, no screenshot of it but I checked out the Genesis remake and they changed it to "SNAKER+ RGOSEGA" or "Snake R+R Go SEGA". Which is interesting as the Genesis version is almost nearly identical on the main world otherwise (it only changed the bonus stage mechanics and added a extra space level that isn't part of the "world" anyway). I'd assume the guys at Rare wanted it to be foreshadowing to the Sneaky Snakes game for Gameboy, which is unfortunately a sidescrolling platform game and not even a noteworthy one. :/ ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Indie Game designer.
Though to be honest, it feels like I need to collect some more experience with programming in general before I invest times into such heavy projects, that might flop. Plus there's too many wannabe game designers out there, I don't want to wind up to be one of those people. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

11x11 was probably set that way originally cause that's how it probably fit the "users online" area the best on Acmlmboard 1.x. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

All I can say is that it should probably be centered vertically, the 11x11 minipic clinging to the bottom of the text looks weird.
Messing with paint the text is about 16 pixels tall so I can see 16x16 working, but it depends on whenever we should keep the old legacy minipic support or not. I don't mind it either way. Edit: Should probably add a way to remove the minipic too, added a dummy one to test it out before I realized that. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I appercite the extra two pixels, mostly cause I can now center my minipic a bit more properly.
Or maybe give it a 1 px border. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I'm really looking forward to the 11000x11000 minipics.

Win for Saxton hale.
I also bought Worms Reloaded. At first it mostly felt like a graphical rehash of the orginal game, but I noticed that they added some new fun and functional weapons, while removing many of the old gimmicky ones. People bitch about the four worms per team limit, but personally I think it makes sense. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Anyone else been using Firefox 4 Beta here? Been for about over a month now, and I'm loving it so far, even if there is a few odd bugs. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by KawaMemory not used is memory wasted. People used to be alarmed over how little free space some OS's leave, when in the end it's just trying to use as much of the free space as possible for disk cache. Same thing with most web browsers today. In theory, most of them are supposed to adapt their memory usage depending on the memory available, but I'm not too sure how that works in practice. At work my Firefox is using around 180 MB right now, been running all day and with webpages opened and closed. At home where Firefox probably been running for awhile have 220 MB used on it's "private working set". In the end, as long IE becomes less dominant in the market... but also puts pressure on the IE team to implement stuff that every other browser is doing, I'm happy with that. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

If you get a BSOD, the blame lies within Windows and not the spefic programs (a badly behaving should not cause a OS crash). Or rather, it's most likely hardware or driver related.
Are you using Firefox 4 beta by any chance? Possible it's usage of hardware acceleration is causing problems, but you can turn that off. I think the culprit might be bad RAM or bad harddrive. A bad harddrive can cause seemingly random freezing in the OS. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Nightkev, some spammers actually use humans instead of spambots. Hard to tell the difference, since said humans just copy and paste a lot. And sometimes it's a hybrid, with halfly automated spamming, but the humans used to bypass various captcha systems. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org
