It's the last RC before the stable release. It's in a total feature freeze in other words, and the stable release will most likely be identical.

Slashdot is my main news source nowadays. I tend to hear from friends when anything else newsworthy is happening.

Actually I forgot to mention that I tend to pick up the "Metro" newspapers given out for free on the buses here. It's a Swedish ad-driven newspaper, which I believe have spread to some parts of the world, including some cities in USA.

Even though he's gone, I'm pretty sure I would still give my vote to Toxic on this one.

The trick is that you don't keep all of it in memory; you keep just general and coarse-grained enough information in your head that you can reconstruct any information you need to achieve a particular goal from looking at the code in very little time, i.e. "knowing where to look".
If you manage to keep all of SMW in memory, it's probably time to start on other projects to start with.

Might be at the point where it's easier to write a SMW clone with reverse engineered physics.

The hack is surprisingly clean despite it's title. Yeah yeah, I know about the orginal game name but... still.

I been thinking about making the next game focus on cooperative gameplay (the last game stalled sometime at 1986, and I'm unable to continue games during midweeks). I might start at late Thursday instead, so the game at least goes into the 21th century before it's over.

accidentally changing someone else's password when editing him/her because of the browser's password field autofilling, or whatever goofing

But that's a Acmlmboard tradition. There's always some admin goofing up users passwords over the years due to that.

If the partition is readable by XP, then it is likely that I virus will seek it out and infect it. That's why if you connect a USB stick to some computers, that viruses which are running can make their way over to files on there, too.
Highly depends on the virus. I suspect majority of viruses don't really bother with "other" system partitions, and you can probably prevent some infection by tweaking the user access/rights.

I have an emachines that I use primarily for downloading so that my new gaming pc won't get viruses. I also use it because it has xp so I can play older games (like system shock 2) and do my schoolwork (Qbasic doesn't work in 7.)
Use a Virtual machine. Some of the better ones can actually run old games decently now, and QBasic should even run fine under Dosbox.

Slight bump, but I actually played with some resizing algorithms of my own. I should probably post about it sometime soon, it was for reducing image size while making them look somewhat sharp.

At least you got a good result without using those odd vector-based resizing algorithms. Those always wind up looking... weird and "fat" with most pictures.

Well, some claim I tend to get really evil in video games when I have way upper hand. I been toying with some of my opponents if I'm way ahead.

Plus I tend to laugh loudly as that happens. "Can you feel the Schadenfreude?"

I think some modern forum software puts the "Change password" fields on a seperate page. Can't check right now.
