Encrypts your IM conversations in Pidgin. Useful incase you're paranoid about big brother watching you or something.
(And if you dislike Pidgin, you can use the AIM proxy on the same page. And there is a few alternatives...) ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I verify someone the first time I meet someone over IM and then get suspicious whenever it switches to unverified.
You can do the secret question thing, which is what me and blackhole89 did to each other. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Port 443 happens to be used by something else and blackhole89 isn't bothering with changing that.
Non-standard ports shouldn't cause any problems, unless you have a really nazi ISP. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Well keep in mind there's pretty much four active generations of the Source engine. It's roughly something like the following:
Half Life 2 [Supports DirectX 7-8?] Half Life 2: Episode one (This is the generation some pre-OB games belong to as far I recall, such as Counterstrike: Source). [Supports DirectX 7-9] Orange Box (HL2: Episode 2, Portal, Team Fortress, Day of Defeat Source, Garry's mod) [Supports DirectX 8-9] Left 4 dead [Dropped support for DirectX 8, DirectX 9 only] A common trick to get Orange box games running on crappier hardware is to force DirectX 8 mode on them. Defiantly the first thing I would try too. The L4D generation dropped some cvars (such as mat_picmap which controls texture quality.... why?), while Orange Box added a few neat ones (like the infamous mat_queue_mode that enables/disables multi-threading). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Well there is a few graphics card that supports everything related to DX9, but just happens to be faster under DX8.
Plus DX8 mode happens to turn off some resource expensive effects. Personally TF2 looses most of it's graphical charm as soon you start using DX8, especially the lightning of the characters get's more boring. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by blackhole89Actually it will if you force it. I had to do that once when I had a drive marked unclean due to a (panic-induced) shutdown. I then mounted the NTFS partition manually with --force and removed the troubling malware I had. It's probably dangerous if Windows is in "hibernation" and could cause corruption. If you forcingly turned off the computer, Windows shouldn't be in hibernation anyway and it should be safe to forcingly mount the disc... ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Viruses is also the more used term so...
Posted by StarkViruses and malware have gone to from being the job of computer hackers with too much sparetime to criminals who wants to sell their bootleg viagra. So of course they don't want to identify themselves. Infact most modern viruses don't even try to ruin the computer it's on. It's easier to spread if none notices it. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Zelda entering the industrial age.
I look forward to the sequel where they use things from the atomic age. A cold war with a magical nuclear weapon? Or the Information Age, where Link is surfing on the internet. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Probably too late for me to try to catch up within the top five.
I really should at least try to break out of that horrible horrible tie. Hmm... ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Check it out! You can use it as a "live bookmark" in most modern browsers (At least in IE7 and Firefox 3), or use it in a proper RSS reader.
The RSS feed lists the latest posts posted in the forum. We're still tweaking the way it works (so feedback is appreciated), and we're planning to make it possible to have individual RSS feds for individual forums and threads. So you can be informed of a new post in a thread without having to manually refresh the said thread. Oh, and as a added bonus... there's a last post link next to the usernames in the forum pages~ Edit: forum specific feeds are available now. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Actually seems understandable for me, even if they kinda had to cheat in some ways... probably to make it manageable.
Timetravelling in videogames is something I always thought on. If you make the world determinable and records the events as they go along... I guess you can easily add time travel into a game. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

The concept of channels and feeds are fairly old. I mean the predecessor of RSS is from 1999, and... I rather worry about how well (or badly) the current implementation is rather than if anyone else made their RSS implementation. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

The discussion earlier about balance in Pokémon does make me wonder if the series would be more intresting if taken as a MMORPG, with balances put in automatically. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org
