So who would start off the game? I am good with the game, but I tend to always forget something when i'm starting a fortress. In my last game, I forgot to take a stonecrafter with me.
I like to always have one dedicated guy for some tasks, such as architecture and don't mind him idling otherwise. It's usually a noble too. Blackhole89: As long you have a somewhat idea how things works in the game, you should survive well enough. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I guess, just make sure to have a witty name for the fortress.
And I want some features and sand. My past fortresses never been on a area with sand on. :/ ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Spoiler:
Shame about the lack of adamantium, but I guess it would just lead to someone kill the fortress as soon he comes across the demon pits... Stonecrafter, a mason, a miner, farmer with cooking, farmer with brewing, a starting "leader" with architectural skills. For stuff to take with us, it would be just... a lot of wood and food I guess. The rest can be easily made or traded. :p Just something along those lines should work. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by boingboingsplatAs long you have at least 256 MB of RAM, you should be able to run it fine memory wise. Hell you can probably get away with 128 MB ram or so. I do know that DF tend to stay around 100 mb in terms of memory usage. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Hmm, I do have the Source version of this game. But I kind of want to buy it only so i can run any Half Life 1 based mods. Unfortunately I don't have a credit card, and I used to have 2.60 USD on my paypal account... but I used that for buying Audiosurf the other week.
And I don't mind buying it through steam anyway. Infact, I bought my sister the boxed version of Orange Box (and before that, I bought HL2 in retail). Believe me, you don't miss anything boxwise... at least when it comes to software from Valve themself. And put it this way, Steam is a mixed blessing for me. I do prefer buying boxed games if it's not a steam-only game, but admittedly with the game forcing me to have the CD in the drive... it's kinda annoying (and I'm not a fan of no-cd cracks). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by GodotThis so reminds me about how I use the physics gun in Garry's mod to propel myself into the sky. This actually works in a very similar way, expect that you have to launch yourself up through another object indirectly I guess. Also Valve is really bad at enclosing their areas to make sure that people don't escape them on purpose or accidentally. You should see the amount of Team Fortress 2 related glitches where people get just outside the box playing area in TF2, or like in Left 4 Dead... where i got thrown to unusual places by a tank. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by Lelouch of the RebellionFreeciv is ironically one of the faster Civilization games I played. Mostly because of the missing eyecandy and streamlined technology tree (which I almost start climbing too fast at some point). OpenTTD is not that good for competition, at least by default. If you were playing with more expensive stuff, and with patches to decrease the timescale a bit (so it takes longer to pay off expenseses/income) then perhaps. (A common problem is that you have more money than you can get ride of at a certain point in the game). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by LelouchWhich is why I thought about writing a patch that makes it take longer time to gain income/expenses. It won't make the game harder, just slow down it economically. To make up for it, I would make each day to take longer. The trains will be as fast, so don't worry about watching them go along at a snailpace.Posted by Ailure ...that would also allow one to be AFK for long periods of time, and just build in spurts than being there constantly. So there's more planning than rushing. There's also Civ IV, which I really prefer over Freeciv/Civ II. However it's ruleset is... very different. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Life is but a moment
A single grain of sand That slips right through the hourglass And slips right through your hand You've shown me how To make each moment count And I know now What life is all about Life is but a twinkle The winking of an eye A star that lights the universe A flash across the sky You came to me Just like a shooting star You gave to me The love that's in your heart When you live for love How precious life can be When you give your love I truly do believe If only for a moment It's a miracle to see Life is but a twinkle The winking of an eye A star that lights the universe A flash across the sky You came to me Just like a shooting star You gave to me The love that's in your heart When you live for love How precious life can be When you give your love I truly do believe If only for a moment It's a miracle to see So shine for all the world tonight And live for love Give your love to me ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

GParted is really good.
It exists on most Linux LiveCD's, such as Ubuntu and Knoppix so even if you don't plan to use Linux you can still use it. Seeing how it was years since the last version of Partitionmagic was released, I wouldn't touch it... ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

As long none get's hurt over it, I don't see the big deal with people doing it.
