That's probably the only "advantage" smoking can bring you, and yet, this advantage is not intrinsic of the smoking itself, but reather how people perceive it. Personnaly, I came to really hate cigarette, cigarette's smoke, smokers with no respect, etc. I just turned out to be totally intolerant towards that phenomenon...

You could be totally cool in the 50s and on, but since the 90s, it's more like, go away with your secondary smoke and your bad breath...

I digged quite a lot in this direction, but I couldn't pinpoint anything significant yet. My main problem is that I don't have access to FCEU or any other tracing program, so I do everything by hand, and I can't possibly know the contents of any variable in RAM at any given time. So everytime I bump into a RTS, it's barely possible to know where I come from, unless I also noted the original JSR beforehand. The only sure way would be to start from the very beginning and decompile everything, which is an overwhelming task...

Thanks to Ice Ranger, we have some information on RAM values, like Link's position and speed. I'm trying to poke the RAM addresses we already know, and find something from there...

I'm also looking for variables to alter enemy AI. I found something for Leeders at 0x563C. Change 60 to any other number to make the Leeder go down their thread and go back up at a different height. Each 10 is equivalent to two tiles (since 1 tile is 8 pixels). That's a beginning. I'd like to alter their speed, but did not find the variable yet. And since I have the "I-can't-return-to-parent-routine" syndrome, sometimes I get stuck in my search...

I do have a PPC, but for an unknown reason, I stick with Panther. I did use Virtual PC in the past, and that's it. So, no, I'm afraid I can't be of any help. But I'm sure you can find a few mega nerds out there on IRC...

Try : irc.freenode.net, #mac channel, something like that...

I do wonder...

When developers work on this kind of game... Are ALL the songs and ALL the difficulty levels tested thoroughly by beta-testers to make sure they are all physically possible? Who does all the testings?

As if buying the iPhone (for $600) wasn't enough, battery replacements are $80 each (so if something goes wrong, well...)

The following question is, what are the other companies doing?
They replace your battery for free?

The other question is about the "keyboard". If, using the iPhone, you can't type well (or fast, or whatever) because the keys are too small, then how the other phones do better than that?

I'd add that your cell phone can fit in your pocket. Your laptop can't...

I have handled an iPhone, and I have to say it's awesome... Just not worth it's price.

Jesus Christ, 600 dollars, wow, just no, never, I'm never going to even touch an Iphone, screw that. 600 dollars is an abominational price.

Actually, it's quite hard for ANY product to be "worth its price", specially in United States, since the general "common sense" about pricing is the mega-simplistic "lower-means-better-no-matter-the-quality-or-other-factors". If a product could have a price of -1.00$, it'd be the damn greatest product ever, no matter its nature. Could be a big hump of perfectly twirled dog shit... Okay, I'm exagerating a bit...

Nevertheless, it's still true that 600$ is a lot. The main preoccupation should be more towards the "backwards marketing" nature of this kind of thing. Instead of making a product that people want (need precedes production), it's exactly the opposite (produce and then force-create the need). It's more of a symptom, and it should ring a bell to anyone sensible to questions of social organisation. And it's just one of many products that follow such a pattern...

Well, ZII Game Editor is an editor for Zelda II on the NES...
And version 1.14 is OUT!

And the version history:

  • You can now move, modify and save key areas.
  • Corrected a bug that caused maps to be exported incorrectly.
  • Changed the value range of the slider for heart and magic containers.
  • Added Thunder to Link's attack power table.
  • Experience levels in the level up menu reflect the changes in data.
  • Added 2 options related to low health beeping in the Misc tab.

The most significant change is the key areas, of course. You can change their location and pretty much any flags for which we know the use: world number (example: 4 means towns), map number (0-62) and a bunch of other flags for various options...

Now when you level up, the two-bytes number in data form is used to modify the regular character form displayed in the level-up menu. The remaining changes are details...

Yet, the app doesn't take care of the palace pointers, mainly because I still think there is unknown data related to them, like the palaces vertical order and the number of palaces present in each world. So even if you change the map slightly, you will likely get weird results if one or more palaces turn to stone. You have to do it by hand...

    Questions and comments are welcome...

Maybe anti-virus makers create uncurable viruses on purpose, and shortly after, come up with the solution crafted beforehand. That would be very dirty business, but it's a possibility...

But in general, the fact that a computer program can sneek up in important folders and/or mess-up with important files without the user doing anything stupid still puzzles me completely...

The forum "rolled back", so messages were deleted...

Yeah, that would be a good idea. I've been thinking about a kind of escape character style of implementation for a while, where you could enter any tile code preceded by a backslash "\", and the prog would use that code as is. This would make any translation much easier if you happen to swap characters around or squeeze extra characters somewhere in the corresponding CHR bank...

"Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" is synonym for "I feel insecure with my habits and I want people to look at me because I use pseudo-scentific jargon", or something like that...

Although most of them are benign, some can be bad.

When I'm alone, I talk to myself a lot

So do I, even if I'm not alone. Keep it that way, it means you are actually thinking!

Most of these habits are most likely a way to express (read: take off) some stress. It's easy to understand if you look at the average environment we have to dive into every day (for most people). Stressors are omnipresent, but most people don't think this problem should be addressed, which is strange...

Either that or good ol' plain insecurity, which is also common place, but noone ever realizes why, which is also strange...

When I'm in deep thoughts, I tend to walk back and forth frenetically, and my speed is directly proportional to how I strain myself, sometimes I'm thinking so hard I start running...

Actually, the human genetics did not change enough in the last 10,000 years to justify the quantity of grains we produce and eat everyday. Our organism is still made to live on meat and fruits. But enter agriculture, and now we can make fields of cereals with little effort. Agriculture favored sedentarity, so it means less exercice, yet most of us can still eat anytime. It's not as if food shortage could spring right out the corner. At least, not in what we call "Occident". So if you have the choice between a steak and a bagel, take the steak, your body is designed for it...

It is sadly true that most people eat the unhealthy cheap way instead of a healthier, more expensive way, but sometimes it can't be helped. As to the horrors of Soy, this is disturbing. One of the foods typically thought of as very healthy is actually very bad for you, it sucks when people somehow manage to distort studies that much. Atleast I typically don't eat soy much.

The problem is, you may be eating some without knowing it, and that's disturbing. Vaccination was distorted pretty much the same way, with marketing trends and twisted studies. Virtually everyone agree to say that vaccination is good for us, but it's actually the very opposite: it's dangerous and is at least partially responsible for many of today's illnesses, ranging from allergies, autism (despite the newpapers saying the contrary), brain-related disorders and some forms of cancers...

So, basically, we need someone who will take care of the worst cases and make sure the rules are applied to a reasonable minimum. But maybe there's something else on the matter. Like something happening behind the curtains. To my eyes, it looks like old mundane family disputes that just stretch pointlessly...

Why not PAY for the service for a change?

If you want to host the thing yourself, you should check if your ISP doesn't block port 80. Mine does that, unless you have a business account. In that case, you need to change the corresponding port in your httpd file, set it to something safe, like :8080. If you don't understand that, then never mind...
