I didn't dig it a lot, but I have a feeling, from past experience and research, that this could be a key-point event in the financial world. Just like the events that preceded the crash of 1929, those events look like they were orchestrated. Some will be "sacrificed" in the process (notice the quotes because bank top brass don't really "sacrifice" something even if their bank explodes), but at the end, some special interest groups will gain something from it. That's for sure...
We have an example of pure money creation, here. The Federal Reserve (which is not Federal nor a Reserve) "injected" no less than 100 millions $ in the economy to "recuperate" it because of all the drops on the speculation markets. Berk... Speculation markets are a nasty plague... |

So if I understand correctly, those are the raw graphics and the game pseudo-three-dimensionalize them on the fly?
I think I just invented a word... |

If you think you can hack the world without using a "hex editor and text files of data", you're weird...
You can use a debugger to pinpoint the location of the code that is used to display the teleporting blocks. If you disassemble the part of code related to Magnet Man's level, you will eventually bump into a relevant data table, and some corruption will give you the answer in no time... |

I think there should be more hints about some secrets, if not all of them. There are hidden areas for which you must almost comb the entire region. It can become tiresome after a while...
One thing you should keep in mind is that it's not as linear as the original Zelda II. You will have to go back and forth between key places... |

From a health perspective, even Hot Pockets (I presume it's the stuffed pizza thingy) are somewhat superior to ramen, the latter containing virtually nothing besides a few carbohydrates... |

Don't worry, though, for cholesterol ingested doesn't translate to cholesterol levels in your blood, far from it. Food intake does not account that much for cholesterol levels, most of it is recycled and/or synthetized in the liver. Anyways, cholesterol levels are not a good indicator for heart diseases. They can show the presence of a problem, of course, but it's not a direct causation... |

Looks like quite a good job, s far, NetSplit. It seems like tank upgrades apply to the player immediately upon killing special flashing tanks (palette change also), instead of taking a star item. Spawn spots are at different places, enemies spawn a lot faster. Shots explode on impact with graphics from scratch, apparently. There's no summary of the kills at the end of the level. Ah, and the bricks leave debris when destroyed. Levels have special grabbable items that don't disappear, and seem specific to each level (or are they random?). Sprites are seen under forest tiles... |

Posted by Reshaper256 From what I know, experience stealing is completely hard-coded. It's just a simple if statement that applies for the entire game. If the enemy has its Steal Experience bit set, then the code just checks if the enemy is a Moa. If it is, lose 20 points, else lose 10. That's it. The routine can easily be modified to anything else, but I don't think Ice Penguin had enough knowledge of it at the time... Posted by Reshaper Although I understand how it's frustrating to have to start over when you die, aren't all Zelda games (and many others) like this? If you can't really be Game Over, where's the challenge? All other Zelda games don't even have a lives system... I presume it's fair to have lives in Zelda II since it's possibly the only of the series where you can die instantly. Compare this to Ocarina of Time, in which Link is litterally invincible even if he falls from the top of Death Mountain. The only thing I always despised about Zelda II is that the continue option is almost totally useless. In Zelda I, if you die in a Dungeon, you can at least hit continue and start at the beginning of the dungeon. In Zelda II, it works only if you are in the last Palace. However, this could also be hacked quite easily... |

Why are firecrackers illegal in Canada?
Canada sucks, so they must confirm it by being uncool and ban firecrackers? It doesn't make sense... |

Goldeneye 007 is not exactly nostalgic, though...
I think Battletoads gets the Pole Position. Shit, we broke controllers playing that game... Add to that Cobra Triangle, Zelda II of course, and Castlevania... |

Some news, but nothing satisfying...
I know how to lay out the basic walls in indoor levels, no problem with that. I got the wall objects pinned down, along with their properties. The first 4 bytes are level attributes, and then 3 bytes per object, until you hit FF... Example with Room 1 of Level 2: Offset: 0xB8B6 Apparently, enemy sequences are stored elsewhere, with possibly a different format. If you set enemies like Running Man in the wall definitions, it will load just fine, but only once, just as the room opens... If you can find any info of enemy sequences, let me know... |
