There's my desktop. Note the presence of imported junk food from Japan. There's Nori Maki Mate, Hi-Chew (Banana flavored), spicy rice crackers, and fried sweet potato crackers. The desk that my lappy is sitting on was built by me. There's a minifridge in the corner, and my TV sitting on top of it. It pretty much stays off, because I like to use the one in my living room instead.

I'll take another picture later.

Edit: YouPorn is better.

Actually, I bought that stuff from a Japanese market that imported it. It was relatively cheap too. All that junk food probably cost me about 6 bucks. The majority of money I spent there was for cooking supplies. I normally like to keep my room relatively clean, because, quite frankly, I'm well pleased with my workmanship on that desk. Having a room that looks messy and having a nice desk with a nice chair just kinda defeats the purpose. At least I can *feel* rich.

Click for near-identical hi-res image of above

That thing to the left of my lappy is an 80GB HD. I use it to store most of my larger files. I keep backups on there as well. On screen: board2, my mIRC array (from top: #jzd, #acmlm, #l2j [lineage2 client emulator written in Java], #furry [because they're funny as hell] and #x), fingerprints, dust, and my taskbar. I run Windows XP with Windowblinds 5.5. I haven't upgraded yet, so fuck you. I've also got my cardreader sitting on top of my HD with a 32MB CF card that came out of an epson demo printer from work. The keys on my laptop are marked... because I fucking wanted to mark them. They represent the controls I use for my emulator when I am not using my SNES pad. To the right of my lappy is my DS with my M3 in it. I haven't had enough time to play any of the recent games because I've been preoccupied with other shit. Underneath my desk is a footrest that I just hacked up... it was originally the chair that I used before I got my new one. I love my Dremel. I still need to get my magnifier lamp and holder for my soldering equipment on this desk. Well, there you have it.

1680x1050 WSXGA+. 19" of beauty. Comes in handy for a hacker like me. I also love Photoshop, and that comes in handy as well. I really need a desktop computer though. Normally, my desk is cluttered with a bunch of soldering equipment; interdpth sold me his SNES and I'm casemodding it. It's extremely small and... bright. Pictures to come soon.

I have decided to get my SNES casemod up and running again. I bought this SNES from interdpth about 4 weeks ago and decided to turn it into an uber-small uber-bright SNES. I started by taking off the shell, and removing all of the components. (Power Switch, Controller board, metal shells) I then took off the outer plastic shell from off the controller board and removed a part of the PCB where the old red LED was. I made a few cuts with my dremel to make it fit better. On the main board, I removed the EXT port in order to save space. I need to get another 5A 125V pico fuse to replace the blown one. I mounted the main board to a 1/8" piece of plexiglass. I cut out all the other pieces.

Status as of 12/9/07. 2.38MB. 2560x1920.
Different Angle. 2.38MB. 2560x1920.

There are 10 LEDs total. One blue LED to show that the board is getting power, and 9 (6 blue, 3 UV) to show that the SNES is on. I might add a casefan in there... one of those really tiny ones. The final dimensions will be 7" x 6 1/2" x 1 3/8". Metric: 16.5cm x 18cm x 3cm.

Here is my soldering environment. It's pretty bad since I don't have the rest of my soldering equipment out yet. 2.38MB. 2560x1920.

More to come soon!

1) It's stated in the motherfucking post,
2) Tells us shit we already know (as you said, it's in the picture), and
3) Contributes nothing in the direction of the topic of this thread.
4) It's SamuraiX.

That will be the end of this bullshit. No more debate. Good night.

Anyway, to the rest of you, Age-Old computers are very common in my family. Not due to lack of knowledge about them, but lack of funds to prevent this tragedy from befalling them. My computer is actually paid by the government, is 3 years old, and would not be in my possession if I hadn't gone to college for a year. I really need a desktop computer, but, as I said, I lack the funds.

Also, knuck: who is that in your last picture? I'ma look up some pr0n. Er, just curious.

I'm drawing the extra power straight from the board. With my method, it's safe to do so, and runs perfectly. The only thing I have left to worry about is the rectifier hat was originally attached with a screw to the metal shroud that went over the SNES. That might not bode so well with that shroud now removed. So, I was thinking about adding a small fan in there to keep things under control.

As far as development, I've ran out of epoxy, and Christmas has me all tapped out, so I'm done for a week or two on this project. I will continue it very soon!

Both games have 4 frames of animation. If one frame of animation happens to be the same as another, it still uses a separate frame. SMB3 note block is this way, as is SMB1's palettes. When the coins change palettes, it uses 2 of the same palettes, but it's still going through 4.

I have a keen sense of both sight and sound. My eyes have been rated by my doctor as "better than perfect" as I could read the bottom line on the chart 20 feet away. I'd rather be deaf because my abnormal sight could pick up the difference.

I've got a few holes in my teeth. Most of thsoe were incurred while I was a child... I have been to a dentist regularly for about 5 years and each time my mouth has been given a clean bill of health. However, recently, I changed brands of toothpaste and now my fillings have started to dissolve. Weird, huh?

See, both games use the same amount of animation frames. It only appears different because of the graphics it uses. Open them up and see for yourself, this is really simple.

I've had this similar problem with other games as well. Namely, Super Metroid. Luckily for me, I am able to just expand the ROM and point the room to extra space. I don't know how easy this is for SMB3, but it is my firm hope that we are able to expand the ROM and have extra space for more levels and other things.

Now, another question I have is this: How "hackable" will the world maps be? Will we be able to make vertical world maps, or add to them at least?

I'll tell you right now that I sure as hell would use a music editor. In the past, editing game music was a much bigger chore that level editing even when there was a music editor because of its "unusual nature". Now, with a game such as SMRPG, editing level data is much harder to do, and I'd say it compares to the difficulty level of music hacking. That being said, if someone was daring and ambitious enough to get into a SMRPG hack, they might as well go the full length of the track and edit the music as well. Granted, not everyone has the ability to compose, but I'm *sure* it would be used to create some interesting hacks.

On the topic of level editing: The physical layer is a bit rough, I recommend softening up the black lines a little. It's also a bit hard to see where the pedestal for the teeter-totter thwomp sits in that picture.

A graphics editor is pretty unnecessary, especially since the wide variety already available. I'd say if you had support for importing/exporting Tile Table data, palettes, and graphics, you'd be golden.

I also suggest a way to clear the ROM of all levels and events, so the user can start anew with their own bare-bones ROM. Keep graphics, enemies, scripts, and whatnot, but basically deconstruct *everything*.

The editor itself looks very nice, except for the italic font is also a bit rough, and the title bars could use a bit more color to stand out a bit better.

I can't wait to try this sucker out!

Play through Super Metroid with only two energy tanks. That'll get you to do some serious critical thinking.

Actually, I don't even know what Little Britain is, just posted for the sake of IRC hilarity.
On a side note, the first thing that made me smile (since i missed a few days in here) yesterday was a huge gigantic ass-rippling fart right when I woke up.

Well, I've been hacking away at my level so far, and I've come about 3/5ths of the way through. My random death problem has been solved, but it seems I've screwed up other castle graphics in other castle levels. It doesn't really affect the level I will be submitting, just need to know if I am wasting my time fixing it...

Also, if you like, you can add my level name to the list: "Shaft Fortress Catacombs". It will be submitted before the deadline, just got the name picking out of the way.
On a side note, can the original SMW graphics be rotated?
