It's a limitation of palettes, but I think it turned out for the better. Makes the ground seem "soaked" and "saturated".

Well, that area of the graphics page is pretty full, but it is possible to use the graphics page for the level (as opposed to the global graphics page) to have multiple pipe graphics, provided there's enough space. Unfortunately, I don't have enough space in *all* graphics pages for these new pipes, and I want to keep things consistent.

Series of screenshots showing off progress of my new hilly tileset for my Reuben SMB3 hack. What original SMB3 hilly (or underground) level would you guys like to see remade with these graphics?

Any thoughts on the graphics themselves?

But I'm surely not quiting ROM Hacking, especially when I dream of making a fully featured music editor for SMB3!
While you're (possibly) doing that, any chance we'll see some Reuben MMC5 love and be able to use the extra two square wave channels this mapper supports? I mean, if you're going to make a fully featured editor, why not take the time to modify/tear down the engine to support it? I guarantee you nobody else is going to do it, mostly due to lack of knowledge...

Anyway, DD, Hope your wedding went well today! All this planning up to this point really does make it worth it, I think.

Not necessarily. It is a pretty big deal. They've even started talking about using a nuke to compress the rock to seal it up, just as the Soviets did when they had oil leaks like this.

I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. Well, I think we should get back on topic. If you guys want to talk about it more, make a thread about it.

As far as this whole Google thing goes, I never use anything other than the primary Google I've used for years. This new sidebar shit pisses me off. It gets in the way, and it reminds me of all the other shitty search engines from back in the day.

I speak english. It's my first language, but I'm not sure it's going to be my only language. I can see learning Spanish because of this country's reliance on it, and maybe Japanese so I don't have to get jealous when games come out in Japan before they do here in the States.

I really do see a difference in coherence between the various languages the people speak. The way languages are structured has a lot to do with the way the brain thinks.

So, can you guys cook? When I want to, I can cook some pretty good food... but lately it's been just me cooking dried pasta products like mac n' cheese, rice-a-roni, and ramen noodles...

I remember this from back in the days of my procrastination. (I still procrastinate a little, but that's besides the point.) I made an insanely awesome Rube Goldberg device that lasted about twelve minutes to carry the whole thing out. I wanted to show everyone, so I made a video of it but unfortunately this was the time I found out that YouTube had an <11 minute video cap.

Agreed... I'd say make the image about a third of the size that it is now. Overly large sig images are rather obnoxious.

I loved Dr. Wily. His insane unsettling demeanor was apparent from the beginning. Makes me wonder what kind of shitty childhood he had. Dr. Light was really really douche-y. His acting was over the top in cheeziness. Rock was strange, but his act was alright. He took the shrugging a little far... Roll, was just.... I dunno. Let's just say she gave me nightmares to last me for a while.

I absolutely loved Wily's verbal assault on Roll. Best part in the whole movie.

=== Non-Essential Editing ===

- Text Editor

- N-Spade Editor

- Advanced Graphics Editor:
- Additional Draw Tools
- Right Click to Draw Secondary Color/Right Click to pick color
- 8x8 tile grid in addition to individual pixel grid
- Tile Arranger (critical tool for designing tilesets)

- Title Screen Editor
- Edits palettes per-tile
- Edits fade-in palettes
- Edits placement of 8x8 graphics tiles, including player select area
- Edits placement of arrow selector position
- Adds ASM hack for playing music at title screen
- Credits editor

=== Support List for Full Functionality ===

- How to handle map hammer bros? Same as the usual "Pointer for each open road tile"?
- Locks
- Pipes
- Animations (What frames to animate & how fast, bridges, etc)
- Map Scrolling Settings
- Minigames (Mushroom Houses, Roulette Game)

=== Bugs ===

- (critical) Allow support for palette files or make the NES palette that Reuben uses
more accurate. I'd go for the former because it's the best way to ensure that what you
see in the emulator is what you see in Reuben. Even the slightest variation in color is
catastrophic when it comes to level design.

- (ROM) Pipes in certain levels intermittently and randomly malfunction in-game as you
develop your project (And will fix themselves as you develop further). Compression bug
maybe?

- (ROM) Doors operate kinda weird. You'll enter a door, and as the palette fades out, Mario
and the rest of the level kinda shifts a half-screen. Doesn't always place Mario where he
needs to be. Also malfunctions like pipes.

- (ROM) P-Switch Music doesn't carry through levels correctly. If you hit a P-Switch then
jump through a pipe, it just plays that level's music instead of finishing the P-Switch
music. Same applies with Invincibility music.

- Trying to add a palette through the editor gives an error and crashes. Must manually add
one in the project file.

- When picking tiles, you click one tile inside the picker and click another tile in quick
succession, it brings up the TSA editor. Rather annoying when you click on the wrong tile,
because I often click on the intended tile right after that.

- Opening the palette editor opens up the palette saved for that level. Which means if you
change it after loading the level, and load up the palette editor, it loads up the
previous (saved) palette, not the palette you just changed it to.

- When you double click a tile to edit in the TSA editor, that tile you chose doesn't show
changes real-time while in the TSA editor. The rest of them do, however.

- I have a couple of levels that are giving me issues. I have the project file for you so
you can see what's going on.

* A vertical level I made isn't loading properly; it seems to be off by a row of $10
tiles. I just fall all the way through the level.

* A fortress level doesn't load. It did load partway through developing the level,
but I can't pinpoint what's going on with it.

"It looks like Nintendo may have managed to run an early prototype of its upcoming 3D handheld, the 3DS, through the FCC without anyone noticing -- well, for a few weeks, anyway. The filing was made available on April 30 and Wireless Goodness spotted it, posting the image above showing what looks more like an ATX motherboard than a handheld gaming platform. But, what wasn't noticed at the time was the aspect ratio of the top screen (in the middle of the circuitry): it's 16:9, while every other Nintendo handheld to date has of course been 4:3. That aspect ratio matches the 3.4-inch parallax barrier display from Sharp, the one that just about everyone is expecting will be featured in the device. Connecting the dots, this could be a prototype 3DS in the flesh, dubbed the "CTR." Given that Nintendo called the DSi the "TWL" the XL the "UTL," even the naming scheme fits in. Sadly the FCC images have since been pulled, but we look forward to seeing a rather more petite version of the thing at E3 next month."

I'd assume it's just about the same amount of trouble for just one channel then, right? You'd still have to rework the engine completely; it's just a matter of space?

I will admit that although I don't play the game there is a significant degree of awesome in that vid. Very classy!

Lol, that didn't stop DD in this regard. He rewrote the entire level format.
Maybe you could just do that instead of hacking the existing one to work especially with Reuben. That would be... badass. I'll help out any way I can! That'd be cream of the crop hackin' right there.

(Obvious begging, needless to say)

An ASM editor in what regard? Do you mean applying pre-coded ASM hacks to the editor? That'd pretty much be what it'd have to be, otherwise anything less would be just your good ol' plain hex editor...

I *do* know DD mentioned an editor that edits user-specified offsets. Meaning you tell the editor what offset to edit (like for example, Mario's jump height or Mario's starting lives) and you will be able to edit it in the editor from then on.
