But I'm all for user-based layout blocking. The admin staff can handle whatever bad layouts may come even if this feature exists or not.

If you feel about me that way, well, that's your opinion and I have to respect that. But I do agree that we do need a change in staff. At least until other become active again. I see a lot of truth to what blackhole89 is saying though. I don't see it as a reduced workload for me or any other admin. It just wasn't designed to be this way. It is the ability for users to choose what *they* don't like. In this case, Arbe doesn't like my layout despite a mosts reward. I dunno if there's better evidence than that to support this. I personally doubt I will use this feature a lot, but I know lots of people will.

If I see a really bad layout, I'll nuke it. Having this feature won't change that.

If it's not appealing to *me*, then I will use the "block layout" function. Since we don't have one yet, I've just dealt with it. I haven't done anything besides fixing layouts and nuking them when they cannot be read easily or just plain screw everything up.

If you're still bent out of shape over me deleting your gif then take it to PM.

I keep seeing this everywhere; but why does everyone insist that "freespace" is one word? It's free space, no matter how you look at it. It's the correct terminology and anything else is not logically sound.

And I wish I could get back on topic but all I know about expanding is that usually there are mappers involved. I know DD has expanded SMB3 ROMs for Reuben and his own hacks (and SMB1) but I know nothing else.

My theory is that your code issue here is a limitation of the mapper. Just a very uneducated guess though.

Indeed. ROM-Hacking just seems to go through phases. Besides, even if we get all of the most commonly hacked games as active as MM hacking is right now, it won't be bad enough that us staff couldn't handle it.

A little somethin' I've been working on lately. This is the start of a new hilly graphics tileset. I need to add decorational elements still, and possibly some accents for the ground here and there.

Hopefully SMB3 hacking will begin to flourish again... I'm really missin' the love, you guys. What say ye?

Why so pessimistic, bro? I've spoken with him and he's got things to take care of in real life that means more than Reuben. (read: marriage) so stop being such a blowhard and please post something worth reading.

He's also said to me that Reuben will be resuming progression sometime in June. That may or may not change.

Well, any staff is allowed to do it. Stark does, only his text doesn't spill out into his sidebar like mine. I've been contemplating moving my text box back out of my sidebar for the sake of board layout. It doesn't really flow that well, despite being badass.

Actually, for new tilesets, I find it's much easier to use TLP just because it has a tile arranger. Making tilesets with a tile arranger lets you see how the tiles line up in any given arrangement so you can see what's going on, so when you finally build all your TSA you don't have any problems with things looking like crap due to misalignment.

But yes, Reuben *does* have a graphics editor. It's in its infant stages but I think it will become more robust later down the road. DD's working on getting basic functionality for all aspects of the game supported before further development is carried out. I only use the Reuben editor for small edits; I use YY-CHR and TLP for most of my graphics hacking.
