Very easy to use. Good work so far.

But what is the point with the line tool? It seems a little redundant when the square tool nearly does the same thing (as long you don't shake your hands too much...).

Defiantly more fun to use than object-based editors as well.
As for the pic, lol

The line tool would only make sense if you could do a point-to-point line, no matter what angle. A lot of tiles are repeated within each 16x16 tile and this new format helps with being able to recycle valuable graphics space within each page. Does TSA/map16 data take a lot of space? Perhaps you could have several different TSA tables to choose from (like maybe 4 or 8 per tileset) to take advantage of the new format... Perhaps the header can specify...

For some people, emulators vs the real thing is *almost* exactly comparable to each other when you have the right equipment and you aren't emulating current-gen. I can emulate most games perfectly on my old 1995 boob tube. Controllers, visuals, sounds, all the same. I can even play these games with other controllers, which gave me some replay value because the game feels different this way. Now, the problem in this case arises when emulators start to get inaccurate in regards to PS1/2 games, N64, DS, etc. and when you are gaming on the go. Can't beat handhelds.

I suppose its a split decision in this case. I will admit that most people don't have a setup like I do and would most likely not go through the trouble that I would. I will just say that a mixture of streetsmarts, lack of money, and desire to play some games drove me to do it this way.

If the dude wants to make a complete hack in one aspect or another, and wants to release it, he can. I'm going to close this due to obvious tolling and bickering.

Saving should automatically happen when as you're editing. Close out your level window before closing that program, that might help but I'm not sure. The only thing I can think of where you actually have to tell the editor to save is the "Save & Close" buttons in the separate utilities.

But it's not really a custom tile set. The tiles haven't changed, must how they're laid out.
It's more of a custom object set. The Stamp feature DD is showing off here is basically an object creator. Since the new level format has you building things from scratch with tiles, making a pipe is a little more involved. Instead of the old format where you could just add a pipe into the level, this new format is making you build the pipe yourself with tiles. This Stamp feature has you building the pipe once instead of several times across several levels.

I love how you can have several pages of these at once. And the ability to name them.

Well, if there was a stamp feature that's what it'd be like.

As for the arrows for those platforms, the arrows themselves occupy a space that the platform never occupies at all. Wouldn't it make sense to have the arrows moved to the path of the platform instead of just beside or below it?

I have seen the player select screen code myself. It wasn't really that hard to see where to disable the code to select two players. The rest is editing the tile data in the title screen.

It boggles the mind to think that a useless patch like that could arise. Not only that, but make it into an editor as a "feature". I don't know shit about ASM but I know how to disable it and that's not saying much.

It's sad how desperate you guys are to make people notice the Mosts are still going.

Wow! For all you guys who voted me to "get severely beaten with my own keyboard" - epic fail... This is actually my sister's computer. So you're all wrong if you think I'm going to get "severely beaten by my own keyboard". Besides, who would bust up into my house and rip out a keyboard and try to beat me with it?

This post is an obvious attempt to get people to change their votes in this category. It's amazingly complete with punctuation and grammar.

zbyte, if more of your posts were like that all you'd have to worry about is the parked car category.

Someone should make a matching "giant powerup" that powers Mario up and gives him the same item in reserve. Of course, I'd imagine you'd also have to change the block it's coming from, too.

Listen up guys.

DD is making a game editor, not a hack maker. If you want ASM hacks and bells and whistles, make them yourself. This thread is about its development. DD doesn't want to hear about how you want certain features in the editor.

DD is already going out of his way to make SMB3 hacking easier and more intuitive. If you can't accept that, then go somewhere else.

165123» <dahrkdaiz> or I can just go hahaha fuck you im keeping it for myself

hmm... I dunno why, it's just using some CSS to make it happen. Not much different than other people's posts. Does it do that with GreyMario's?

Anyway, DD, I assume you are still looking for comments/suggestions on GUI and stuff?

Are all the functions shown in the editor supposed to work? I have a ROM with graphics within it from my other hack that I'd like to import but when I try to open up the graphics importer nothing pulls up.

The iteration on Excitebike 64 sucked ass. The game itself was great, but the NES-style Excitebike was horrible. I hope this one does the original justice. I'll be picking this one up as well.

Also, Cave Story AND Night Game... I am just totally disappointed in how long this shit is taking. It's almost like Duke Nukem Forever or however long it took for Super Mario 128 to turn into Super Mario Galaxy.

Make your editor do my hack for me!

That's what I just got out of that. No. I am only going to implement features in the editor that deal with level design. This is to make level creation easier, not to add features people think would be cool in their own hacks.
lol, isn't that like the 4th time you've said that now?

So I have Reuben on a couple of computers (wanted to hack while on the go) and long story short, wanted to transfer projects over to the other computer. I downloaded the 10/31/09 release on this computer, transferred my project (made by the 10/28/09 build) to the same computer as the newest build, and opened it up. Seems the map16 (can we just please call this TSA please, it's much easier and just as correct) doesn't quite work right. Reuben assumes the default TSA tiles. The level shows that those tiles I edited on the other computer are there, but since Reuben is using the default TSA tiles, the level shows those default ones are used instead of the ones I made.
