2. Rear-ender
I was up in the mountains at the time, working for an extermination company (I expressed extreme concern for the condition of the brakes, and 2 months of hounding and bitching later, nothing was done) and a good friend. There was this dumb fuck indian driving an old Ford F-100. I was coming up on him, on a green light. For some reason, he was going slow, so I tapped my brakes a little. Instead of speeding up, like I thought he was going to, (It's a green light, fuckface) he slammed on his brakes like a dumb shit. I would have had plenty of time to stop, but the brakes were bad and they slipped. I just slammed right into him. The first thing I did was call the cops, and then I handed the indian my boss's business card. Nobody was hurt. (This isn't really a close call, because it was just an indian.)
Racism ain't cool.

I used a poor choice of words. Indians are cool. It's the *illegal* aliens I don't like. And that's not really racism, even though most of them are Latino. But this isn't debate, so if something else needs to be said, talk to me in IRC or PM or something...

On-topic: There was a time when I used to ride BMX bikes to get around, race, jump, and do stupid shit like that. Come to think of it, I still do from time to time. About 10 years ago, I was racing a buddy of mine down a residential street. Not busy, right? That's what I believed, because typically, it wasn't. So we started off in our race, and we got going pretty fast. You know those "bear claw" pedals with the steel tips to help you grip? Well, I slipped off of it for some strange reason. My right leg took the weight of what the left leg had lost... only for a moment. The pedal had jammed right into my shin. After screaming in pain, still rolling on my bike, I looked up to see my friend look back, and then look forward at a car coming our way. The car passed him, and came straight at me. Apparently the driver didn't see either of us, and I couldn't get my leg dislodged from out of the pedal. Finally, at the last second, the driver spotted me as I broke free of the pedal, and swerved off to the side. I crashed into a bush in someone's lawn, holding my shin until the driver got out and called my parents. I think it could have been a lot worse, but it still fucking sucked.

Okay, I've set up a MoonEdit file on Xkeeper's server. It is mainly used for bug reporting, suggestions, run-time errors, and FAQs. If you feel you can contribute, please feel free to do so. It does not have a password, but if vandalism occurs, there will be one put in place. To connect, get MoonEdit and connect to xkeeper.shacknet.nu on the default port 32123.

Well, after playing this for a while, and checking out some of the previous levels for random stuff, I discovered this.

It helps immensely. Pit of 100 trials is gonna be a cinch now.

But, the increments rise every couple of levels. Right now, my levels are about 140,000 points apart. I have completed the first pit no problem, then I hit the Flopside pit. I almost didn't make that one, but that's because I wasn't prepared. I'm gonna go for the second round in that pit, for which I will be carrying Emergency Rations.

Some tips for the Pit:

1) Emergency Rations. Cook a Fire Burst with a Shroom Shake. +50 HP and poison cure in pit only. Keep your HP above 15 at all times.

2) Leveling up is a good thing when you have these. You want to level as much as you can in here, because it's a great opportunity.

3) You want to spend as many coins as you can on cards. Cards is key when you need the extra attack on harder enemies. I've spent close to 5000 coins on cards. (To get extra coins, just buy Life Shroms in Watchitt's town, cook them, and sell them for a 46 coin profit.)

4) Barry is a lifesaver in there. Also, Slim.

08-08:03:27 <KP9000> there are three main core values of an editor

If you think about how big Melee was, and how long it would take to have an update every weekday up until about a quarter of the game is covered, you'd get at *least* 4 months worth of updates. It pains me to think about how far they'd go with this installment. I'm thinking about 100 or so updates, which puts us in September. I still believe that the updates will continue even after the game comes out.

The Wii is doing so well without Nintendo's four main titles. I can't wait to see how well it is going to do when they all come out.

The fact that they used "recovering" as an update is kind of a ripoff. Anyone who ever played or watched this game knows to recover...

You'd be surprised...

Posted by Sonicandfails
What the hell Mario, if they made his recovery that much better people will be shot.

Mario is NOT supposed to be a good character!

If you play by how good the characters are, then you need to be shot. Using every character strategically is key. For example, if you use Marth, then you get used to predicting players' movements as that character. However, if you change characters to Mario, you get thrown off, and the predictions are kinda skewed. Small things like that are key to mastering every character.

On another note;
Hey, we have to jump to live now?

Nah, just displaying my utter dissatisfaction of the recent updates. Oh well, they'll just run out of useless stuff to update sooner or later, and have to start putting in some juicy stuff.

The VC data saved to an SD card is SAVE DATA only. Namely, a save state is stored onto it. Someone with a mod chip could probably figure out how to browse the on-board flash memory on the Wii iteself. It seems to take forever to transfer to the SD card, which implies that it's trying to encrypt the data. If it's trying to encrypt the data, then that means it sits in the flash memory unencrypted. Either that, or it uses some simpler form of encryption before it stores the Savestate to the Wii, then encrypts it even more. Cadohacan says it uses a 1024-bit AES(?) encryption method.

If you want to test my theory at a very basic level, copy a VC game to an SD card and take it to another Wii that doesnt have that VC game and try to copy it to that Wii. The message that it gives you implies that the data on the card isn't the actual game. It says something like "Cannot copy save data until the game has been played" or something to that effect.

I think you missunderstood something there.

The VC-Data is the data, you copied to it, it's not always the save data, if yoou copy the channels, you only copy the channel, and not the save data.

The save data can be copied, but not the save states.

Makes sense to me. My mistake. But, I was on the right track. Still, all those "games" floating around out there on the internet are only game saves and nothing else. Useless data, until someone (never) cracks Nintendo's encryption.

Who is making metroid allience?????
That's being made by Jathys for Super Metroid using HIS editor SMILE (Super Metroid Integrated Level Editor). Also, it's "alliance"

Also, I have been giving a strong helping hand in the visual department. Graphics and Level Design is what I've been working on in Alliance, and as soon as Jathys gets done with his changes, we will be ready to take the game into full production!

Anyways, I've been working slightly on a new hack with this editor, mainly waiting for some key features to be implemented. Here is a picture of my progress so far. The rooms filled with red are rooms I have yet to complete, and rooms filled with blue are completed. Please take note that this is not how the rooms are going to look, it just shows what new rooms are complete. When playing this hack, play it as you would Metroid 1, but with tons of new secrets and items.

The editor up to this point has been kick ass, and is receiving really nice steady updates too. This looks good. The only gripe I have for it now is the working speed of the editor itself. Great job interdpth!

Dude how long am i banned? I feel like ive been shoved out of my house, please just let me in.

If you ask about how long you are banned, I swear you will not see the likes of the channel ever again. Just be patient, and soon it will be lifted, provided you don't act like a jackass.

You guys seriously need to have some respect. He's got to start somewhere. Give him a chance. It's pretty good for his first hack. He's got the concept of replacing graphics with other graphics, and the concept of how a SMB level is built. I'm not saying he's a great level designer, just that he knows how to hack them. Most of the graphics look pretty good, save for the "Eat my shit" blocks, and the question blocks. He's even got an ASM hack in there. If it wasn't his code, who the fuck cares, he knows how to patch.

I'm disappointed in the noob flaming in here, it reminds me of everything that made ||board shitty. If you don't like it, say why the fuck you don't like it. Constructive criticism. Not blatant disrespect.

That's hardly constructive criticism. While it might be true, the least you could do is be nicer about it. We promote ROM hacking. If something is shit, tell them why (without being an ass) and tell them what should be done. Examples help. I've seen people create some pretty bad stuff, and they have received quite a huge dose of constructive criticism. They went on to create some pretty cool shit as a result of this. Instead, one of you is an ass, and the rest of you jump on the bandwagon.

Yeah, the letters and words don't go well with graphics. Not on every single block. Things like that are unattractive and annoying. Now, if you were to add something like that in actual text that occurred only once in the game, then it might be ok, depending on the circumstances. But usually things like that tend to flag a hack as "shit" and nobody wants to play it. Unfortunately, as you had this in your hack, it was labeled as "shit" when it actually had some pretty cool things in it.

Also, good level designers don't spell words out with blocks, they keep to the environment of the game, and build according to the type of the world. Structural integrity, and lots of it.

The font looks really good too. It's got the rounded edges, and it works well with both bright and dark areas.

Also, good work on the ASM. One thing: does this work on the Bowser? If it does, then it's an easy kill, and that's usually not a good thing.

I have set up a moonedit server for (almost) everyone to use. Connect to IP 72.223.112.91 using port 23000. The password is "adam".

The file present is for anything Zero Fission related. If you have a bug to report, a suggestion, or even a question, feel free to come on in!

You can download moonedit here.

I remember being told a few weeks ago that I had had a concussion after falling off my bunk bed when I was a kid. My wrist was all fucked up, and I don't even remember that. I would have gone my whole life not knowing I've had a concussion before, and not be able to tell the story.
