Well, here's a level I did with the build first released. I understand some of the stuff in that level might not work (orange pipes) as i don't know what its physical attributes are, but it's a proof of concept and not meant to be physically functional as of yet.

DD, Rock On! You're getting so much done in so little time. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I took about 10 minutes to make that level. The blocks used to make the extended pipes took me about 5 minutes to make as well, along with some time feeling my way around the editor, which really didn't take me that long either.

Why do you have 13 cats?

Why?

Are they mostly kittens that make up an unusually large litter and you just need to start giving them away? Does your house smell like cat piss all the time?

Also, I'm now jobless. I fucking hate looking for jobs.

Well, here's a level I did with the build first released.
I just double-checked his post. The link isn't there!
If you are expecting a download of some sort, there is none. Just an image. Click on it.

zbyte: think of it this way (I'll use toys so it's easy to understand)

Imagine SMB3 right now as a bunch of... let's say... Lincoln Logs. In order to make something, you have to fit objects together to make your final masterpiece, whatever it is. You have to use the logs to make a wall, and there's not much else you can do with the logs. You just have to use them the best way you can. Legos for instance are much more versatile than Lincoln Logs because you can take a bunch of lego pieces to make a wall but you can use those same pieces to make something entirely different.

SMB3 uses an opject. A pipe is an object that is made up of 16x16 tiles. Each 16x16 tile has four graphical 8x8 tile that makes it up.

So, if SMB3 uses a pipe that's 7 tiles long, it uses 4 different 16x16 tiles to make up the pipe. The two tiles that make up the end of the pipe and the two that make up the long body of the pipe. The pipe's body is repeated until it is 7 tiles long. The pipe itself would then be 14 tiles.

This new SMB3 level format gets rid of objects altogether and gives you control of what tiles to put in the level. For example, if you wanted to create a pipe, you would have to put each individual tile down on the level to make the pipe. The ends, the body, everything. It's a lot like SMW's Lunar Magic.

There are no more 3-byte objects, 4-byte objects. You're not playing with Lincoln Logs anymore. You're playing with legos. You don't have to worry about space in the ROM either.

That's why I'm planning on getting ONE and not THIRTEEN.

I did all of this with vanilla tiles from SMB3. I could make this look KILLER if i edited the graphics. All I did was change the palettes and add a couple of new TSA/Map16 blocks.

Jaspile, I was talking with DD on his editor and there's a few ways to get what you want. If you want to make an editor for an aspect of SMB3 that his editor doesn't/won't support, he was saying something about making your own editor and then he can turn it into a .dll and it will "run along side it". The editor itself he says will be open source as well.

So, that brings up another question: Do you think you could whip up your version of some sort of music editor or at least an instrument editor for DD's main editor? Perhaps a 1-bit sample inserter? I had a hard time looking at your other editor, I couldn't figure out how the hell it works. I did everything by hex, it wasn't that bad.

I'd totally make use of this sort of thing, even though I might suck at it. I already started editing sequence data in my own hack but I'm not sure what it all does. Wasn't there someone who used some javascript program to take a specialized midi file and put it into SMB3's format? Was that you, Jasp?

Holy Shit.

I can't believe the skill you have, there. It's amazing. I wonder how bad it breaks how the game is played, if at all. There's a lot more Megaman can do now, so how does that affect level design? Are some of these acquired skills like MMX?

I also think you should do something about Megaman spazzing out on the wall, it just looks silly. Other than that, it looks very crisp and playable! Can't wait! And I don't normally play MM hacks either.

Just like there was little point in making mood avatars in the first place. I don't think it's really necessary.

Jennifer is a pretty common name, too. However, most of the women around here that are named Jennifer are pretty hot. Is that evident where you are, Anya?

Holy shit, it's Anya.
Indeed. It's been years. Also, the 360-tan... is she fun to play with until she overheats and gives us the red ring of death period? I'd hate to get smacked in the head with them melons. They look like they move pretty freely, too, so the kinetic energy stored in them would be just massive.

Yeah but everyone likes this one.
Almost everyone who saw it thought that was a chick...

Fixed
Very true. And it's not very often I'm trapped like that. Thank goodness he was clothed. Anya's layout brings me back to myself though, so it's all good.

if you want to get into it, neither are the RPG stats, the shop... or really even the forum for that matter
My mistake... I meant I don't think the PM ones were necessary, and what I mean by what I said was that it doesn't really affect how the board operates... Which could also be said for the RPG stats and/or the shop. But, you kinda need a forum to uh... post.

aw, Bukk, that's such a pessimistic attitude. We should be posting in here like mad since we really have nothing better to do than to let our lives rot and whither away until the keyboard calluses on our fingers grow so infected we can barely lift our hands... Stay optimistic.

I'm in IRC, so I can see when new posts are posted... So, what I do is while I'm making my post and I see a new post in the thread I'm posting, is refresh my page so I can see the new post(s). I copy my text just in case since I've had the page erase everything in my form field...

It seems like a good idea though.

It's what I do.

Just wanted to mention that those who can't access IRC for some reason or another are specifically in need of this feature.

I don't really like movie games, mostly because of what RT-55J said... they're rushed and are generally not that great. I also play games for the storyline, so if I want to, I'll just watch the damn movie.

That's mostly why they suck. A game of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within might be good though...

jpg files were used back in the day to prevent graphics rips. I doubt that's the real reason they've been put to work here, though. Grey Mario's right, use .png's if you can, except for very large images. MS Paint has native support for the PNG format.

As far as the hack goes, I'd put it onto a cart if I could. I actually have a list of hacks to put on carts and this is at the top of the SNES list.
