you wouldn't be able to modify existing levels
Posted by Treeki
Besides, when the standard level format is loaded, it's converted to a tilemap in RAM - so it doesn't make much difference.
Well, couldn't you convert original levels to tilemap in the editor using a similar method the ROM uses to convert it to tilemap in GBA RAM in the first place?

Some people might prefer the old-fashioned way of editing SMB3... but that preference is nonsense if the only reason for this is familiarity. I'd choose functionality over familiarity any day when it comes to this kind of thing.

Not only that though, it has the potential to become a SMW killer when you talk about the features that this particular SMB3 engine has and when you talk about turning the system into a tilemap based one. This leads to custom tiles, then later down the road, custom blocks, sprites, sounds/music, etc...

IMHO, It's just a better system altogether.

On a side note, the e-reader levels exhibit some properties that seem to have even more potential that all levels should have. One of them has a height almost as tall as the level is wide. This interests the shit out of me. They also seem to handle pointers in a more efficient way; having several doors and pipes on one screen would be a huge help.

Why would you be angry at this? It all seems so petty.
Stark, have you ever seen Anger Management? It explains a lot.

You may want to fix your spelling error in that room before Sukasa adds that in there. Unless it's ironically intentional...

...my voice. Someone should just pile a bunch of quotes in here to read off so they can record something worthwhile.

setz, dull or not, I am still curious.

Oh, it does indeed work. Perhaps you should tell us what's wrong or what you are doing that way we can actually help you.

So, Kawa, how far into this editor are you? Treeki, are you also working on it? As far as I could tell in IRC you were both working on stuff... Is this a joint project between the two of you or are you both making two separate editors?

Also, Kawa, those screens seem to imply that the game is being emulated and the viewer is imposed on the emulator... what exactly is going on here?

I think this is a great idea. I love the idea of healthy competition with other communities.

I think that a SMB3 hack would be awesome; but I think we should do it with SMA4 just to add a little extra flare to it. Space wouldn't be an issue (for the most part) with the new level format being designed, and we would have all the new features native to SMA4 that SMB3 or SMW don't have. It's the best of both worlds! That's the way to do it!

Cave Story, Hell. I can't believe how well the SMW music engine pulls this song off. Gallade, please do yourself a favor. Download and play Cave Story. It is a request of your old uncle KP9000.

Also, Reini, that is a damn good tileset. Great rip. The music could be used in a fast paced castle setting rather than a cityscape though.

Also, yeah, what Stark said. Why confine yourself to walking through life constantly grumbling how much everything pisses you off?
Because it's a venting mechanism. Some people get so pissed off that without a venting process they will just pick up a tire iron and beat the shit out of someone.

Now, I would not consider myself on par with one of the Columbine Shooters, but I *am* human and having to vent is completely normal.

That being said, fuck crotch rocket riders.

I am considered an optimistic person. However, I believe that this emotion is unavoidable. Things *will* piss you off, one way or another. I am usually a laid back and calm dude (my demeanor would probably fool you) but sometimes I just get pissed off. I can't just ignore some stuff. That is why I have prepared ways to deal with that state of being pissed off.

I get angry when I get hurt or hurt myself. That in itself might be hardcoded in my body, and no amount of "doublethink" or correct or appropriate attitude will fix it. Of course, it's not the same for everyone, as it is with health issues.

I suppose that's why we have people with ADHD and metalheads. Fuck metalheads.

My computer can get very loud. The fans need to be oiled every so often or else they start to squeal. My DVD drive also gets a little loud when reading discs.

My laptop screen is taking a dump, and I can't get my computer to use my external monitor as the default monitor. Crazy combination of problems with my video drivers and laptop chipset. Dunno if it's going to work out.

In a few years, this post will be looked upon by myself as one of the dumbest posts ever concocted. I will look on this post in the year 2013 and just laugh. So, KP, if you're reading this, congrats, you're now much smarter than you were when you made this post. And hopefully you've got a girlfriend too.

Mine turns clockwise. I have a manual can opener. It just seems to work better when opening them clockwise. Especially those tuna cans. Those are horrible to open...

Every once in a while, I have to take apart my laptop's cooling block (heatsink for CPU and GPU/chipset and fan combination) and oil the motors of my fans. I also have re-applied thermal paste a couple of times due to the more-often-than-designed removal of the cooling block. I also have a dog, and sometimes I pull out some pretty nasty hairballs.

I have also had to pull out every key from my keyboard and cleaned it out. Last time i did it, it took 8 hours. I had to be careful with every single key, clean it with alcohol, and stick it in the dishwasher.

As far as display issues goes, I just removed my old laptop LCD, found the correct drivers (3rd party ones, which were shit-tons better than the originals, how ironic) for my video card, bought a new keyboard, and that's it. Working fine now.

What's better is if you try it with all the punctuation possibilities. Had me going for like twelve minutes straight laughing.
