I never actually *went* to E3... I had passes for '06 and '07, but got screwed out of going *both times*.

I imagine they were both there; Who wouldn't want to be looking over their "baby" while showing off to the masses? Their blog got some major attention, why not at E3'09?

Sony's was impressive, and was really let down with what I saw from Nintendo.
I've noticed lots of people say either this or the direct opposite; They loved Nintendo's and was disappointed with Sony's. It really depends on your point of view. I personally loved Nintendo's keynote. I didn't really expect much from Sony which kept me from getting disappointed. I basically watched the whole keynote with the fact that Sony loves to shit on its customers in mind. Six out of eight games were blood, war, and explosions. That, my friends, is asking to be raped by Michael Bay.

On an side note, and it doesn't even have to do with E3, Monkey Island (the very first) is being remade! It's got voice acting, Graphics revamp, UI changes, and a hot button to switch back to the old graphics on the fly!

Metroid: Other M
I think the name is pretty fucking stupid
I said the same thing when I saw that title. Worst name for a videogame ever. They couldn't think of anything better?
I hope it's one of those games that gets renamed; or just a game whose Japanese name hasn't been localized yet. Chances are slim, since games usually don't get renamed. Then again, Nintendo has done it before. (Wii)

It's pretty empty and lonely in here... I'm kinda missing the company of these dodongos... Especially now that I'm fully stocked up on my bombs now.

The thing about linking to JaSp's FTP thing though is that he's got some actual ROM files on there. So... does that matter?
As long as the ROM files on there are Public Domain, it's fine. Otherwise, I'd say don't link it.

Being that the whole point of having a birthday thread dedicated to someone is to honor them, I doubt a single birthday thread *could* honor anyone as separate threads could. That being said, I am against a single birthday thread.

Ailure deserves his own damn thread! Go Ailure!

BEING OLDER FTW

Am I the only person who played Monkey Island original with the PC Speaker sound option because I was a sorry excuse for a gamer and didn't have a sound card?

Holy shit. I almost forgot how old I am.

I'm 23. I will be 24 in December. I often get mistaken for a very young kid 16-18 years of age...

If it's deemed unsafe, who would actually tell the truth and say that they are under 13? I remember when I looked for porn while I was a minor, I always said I was like 60 or something.

Anyway... I always hate how some people (who are 18 years old) say (or complain about) how old they are. I am halfway tempted to steal them away, take them to an old folks' home, and make them change diapers for 8 hours.

Pentium 4's often use what's called Hyperthreading. My current laptop computer has a P4 with hyperthreading in it. Check your bios, it will say something about it. Hyperthreading is basically an emulation of two processors using the one processor. Therefore, you have two logical threads. The P4 was the only processor for a while that supported this feature until the Core i7 came out, which has 4 cores in it. Taking the hyperthreading into account, you end up with EIGHT logical threads! The OS would show eight processors going at once!

I never knew that either. The second room just kills the hell out of me with that falling block crap. I've gotten better at dodging, but that room still drains a lot of HP from me. If it looks like I'm going to get hit, I just try to get hit by an angel since they only take away 5hp. Still, that room rapes me most of the time.

The next room is usually pretty easy for me. That segment right before the huge heavy press is pretty easy if you just get up on that platform up high (to the right of the wall) and just shoot left & right. The angels usually can't touch you.

Also, yeah, I'm pretty excited about the Wii version coming out. I wonder what new DLC there might be...

You can use it up all you want since you can go back to Jenka and have it refilled.

At least there's hope that you learn from experience...

Anyway, I'm waiting for the WiiWare port to come out. I've been following the blog on Nicalis and I have to say there's quite a bit of drama going on in there. Half of them are loyal fans waiting for the game to come out no matter how many delays and the other half are whiny, spoiled gamers that lost patience after the first delay.

I'm going to laugh when December 2 rolls along and no birthday thread pops up for me... Though, I guess I brought that upon myself.

But enough about me... the spotlight's on you, Kawa! Happy Birthday! You get to add another mark to the tally that ultimately reminds you that you are closer to dying each time you increment it.

Also, Stark, you forgot about the one hidden away in the cake.

It's the 4th of July, the American Independence Day.

Gonna blow up some alien motherships? An old CRT Monitor? Dry Ice bombs inside pumpkins?

Or just some good ol' fashioned fireworks?

Also, you don't need to be American to blow something up.

Here's another thread that answers that question, I hope. Though, you need to stay more on-topic when you post.

zfrostbyte: Your level design seems a bit choppy... How are you supposed to beat that level without the leaf? I also believe that levels that have difficult aspects in it (waterfalls that are two or three tiles high that go into a pit) should be saved for later worlds.

Otherwise, the level design is unique. Keep up the good work.

092216» <blackhole89> People not knowing about what a command line is is the one thing
092255» <blackhole89> but people going "give me something easier" when provided all data they need to find out is just appaling
092325» <blackhole89> especially if what they want to do is something associated with advanced computing skills
Seriously.

If you don't want to figure out the basic structure of how advanced hacking works, then you don't need to be dabbling in anything of the sort. Stick with editors and simple hex editing.

That is a pretty awesome title screen SePH. Looks great!

It has actually inspired me back into my SMB3 hack... to finally name it. And in naming it, I'm going to have to make a title screen for it myself. One of the things I've been bothered with is how SMB3 handles palettes. I believe I've made headway so far... I found the memory addresses in PPU, so I've got to locate the ROM offsets before I can start.

Unless someone here can lend a hand on how the SMB3 title screen works, of course, I'm in for a productive day tomorrow. However, I still welcome the former.

I also would like to know if it's possible to change what world you advance to after you beat a world. I don't want to have the desert world right after the first... I'd like to save that for world 7 or something.

Anyone?

I have thought about going that route, but I want my hack to be more different than your run-of-the-mill hack. I want my worlds to have different number of screens and different music to give you a little more of the "new" feel to it. I don't want them to feel like they're playing a hack, but playing a whole new game.

What would you think if you started a SMB3 hack and the worlds were all in a different order? Wouldn't that throw you for a loop?

I find it to be intriguing at the very least. I know there's some sort of code to change what world you start on at the beginning of the game, I just have to change how the game reports it. Or, I could just remove the redundancy all together since you really don't need to be reminded what world you are on. You should already know how many worlds you've beaten.

I am also looking for a way to add the 8 frame animation to my hack; I'm not good enough at ASM to figure it out on my own, so I'm going to need some help with that.
