Not only that, it's not at all apparent that a radio even can be accessed on that page...

...Other than that, Great Work! I've been loving this from the beginning!

giangurgolo: I've run into several bugs that I can reproduce and document if you like.

Also, if you're having trouble with the radishes at first, check out one of the houses. There might be something in there that can help you out.

As for the hack, I love it. You really gotta look at it as this: It's the first hack of this game with its own designated editor. Square probably had to put in some serious time to work with all the layering in the levels, scripting, etc.. Now, I've put some time into this editor myself, and it isn't a picnic. It's not the editor, it's the game. It took me a while to even get something that *resembles* a level. What these guys did is a shitload of work. Fantastic amount of work. There are bound to be a few bugs, but its function in the end is to show off the abilities of the editor and the aspects of the game it can edit. Not how well one can avoid bugs, write a story, design a game.

Keep this in mind when you start your own hack.

Once again, completely awesome, and I haven't even completed it yet.

I've got an issue with this laptop that I need to figure out...

The issue itself seems small... (who the fuck am I kidding, this is Microsoft) but it has manifested itself as a motherfucking jumping cactus wedged halfway past my sphincter.

The issue is this:

Realtek High Definition Audio drivers don't work.

- It's my roommates, and it had Linpus Linux on it before... Installed XP on it.
- The driver is supported by Acer themselves
- I've installed it already
- It doesn't fucking work.

Now, I've figured out the cause for this; I apparently need a hotfix, which I've downloaded. Thing is, if you already have Service Pack 3 installed, it won't let you install it. No big deal, right?

Wrong. I seem to have service pack 3 installed, (using a certain "Windows Vista-like XP Pro with SP3" OS) but...

- Windows does not see it in "Add/Remove Programs"
- Windows sees that I have it installed (confirmed when I try to install SP3 package)
- The hotfix I mentioned earlier won't let me install due to SP3 apparently being there

One of the methods for removal states that there is a hidden folder in the Windows directory that I can use to manually run the uninstaller... This does not exist.

How do I get rid of SP3 without an uninstaller?
If anyone is having the issue with the Acer sound drivers, did you fix it? How?

Ten fucking rupees. Go.

I guess it just wasn't possible to fix with what OS I had running, so I just re-installed.

Therefore, Nightkev, Ten fucking rupees.

It was an old high school password. It came from a combination of my initials and the BFG9000.

Not much of a story...

Posted by Kawa
I had to get rid of the AOL-ish handle I had before. Then came Halloween on the old board and I changed my name to TEH FUZY EVIL for the occasion.

I then very loosely translated it to Japanese, Kyoufu Kawa, but the constant misspelling inspired me to drop the first part.
I liked the japanese one better. Kyoufu. Not that damn hard to type, people. Bring it back!

I have downloaded this hack, but I have not yet played it. This thread caught my eye and at first I thought it was already a second large(r) scale hack made with Lazy Shell, but I heard (in IRC I think) that you did it without Lazy Shell. That's amazing. Out of curiosity, could you post screenshots of the editors you've made and used to make this? I don't really care about neatness, but it's still interesting nonetheless.

I'll play this hack when I get home from work.

Also, Maticolotto sounds familiar... I wonder where I know him from?

Edit: The typo monsters ate my fingers. (Fixed)

True, but it still sounds waaay more authentic as "Kyoufu Kawa". But hey, it's your choice, not mine.

Seems a few of us have usernames/handles that have evolved over the years... Mine hasn't changed in 10 years. Perhaps it's time for a change...

Super Mario RPG has its own channel now. Come and collaborate with fellow SMRPG hackers or just hang out.

Most of you know the drill, but if you don't, you need an IRC client such as mIRC or you can use the Java Applet to join.

If using mIRC, type in the following commands and press enter:
/server -m aoi.irc.djbouche.net:6668
/join #smrpg

If you are using the Java applet, you of course need to have Java installed. To join, click on "nucleus.kafuka.org" and the applet will load. You may get a prompt when loading the applet, acknowledge them and continue. Once your applet has loaded, you will automatically join #acmlm. After this happens, you will want to change your nick. To do this, type:
/nick yournickhere

And once you are finished, join #smrpg by typing:
/join #smrpg

If everything has gone as planned, you should be ready to chat to your heart's content!

As far as the winter mosts goes, Best Romhacker would probably go to someone other than DD because he wasn't very prominent during the winter, compared to a lot of other guys. He is a good hacker, and he really does deserve the flattery, but let's not take away from others. Give them a chance, there are plenty of other dudes out there who make some good shit.

Arbe, I think you'll be more known as the board's resident fool rather than the person that got the 100000th post. Seriously though, nobody really gives a crap about this number except for people overly concerned about their image and the sad unfortunate need to feel remembered.

That being said, I'm closing this thread also.

You seem to be pretty good at pixel art, from what I've seen. I'd like to see your iteration of cave graphics... that'd be pretty cool. You could always base it off of my Super Metroid Cave/Underground graphics...

I think that if the community SMRPG hack ever gets anywhere, it's going to be the first.

Hey Arbe, we need to get in on that shit right there.

One of the reasons why I hadn't sought out a relationship is because I knew I wasn't mature enough. I was pretty sure I couldn't handle it.

Still, I loved my childhood. Video games those days kicked ass. I remember waking up at 5 or 6 in the morning to play SMW on SNES a month before it came out. My older cousin got to beta test it... I was the luckiest kid on the block!

Hah, Sukasa; you have to update that map again... this is a horrible paradox.

Horrible.

I might get into this again... I just need the motivation to do it. Maybe turn this into a competition and turn any new submissions into contest entries? Winner gets... I dunno, an pair of slippers?
