Race? *phblbpt* no.
Controversial factor? ....ehh, YES.
That guy had a way with words. He only manipulated them in ingenious offensive ways.

We have had a few banners on board2 for a while, but we need a replacement. Though, in the conversation in IRC we decided to take a different approach. We will have a random per-visit rotation of a set of board2 banners produced by you guys! All banners submitted must follow a set of rules. Any submissions that do not comply with the rules will not be considered for inclusion.

The rules are as follows:

- Submissions will use the Photoshop template provided below.
- Template will not be modified. Image size must stay at 600x100.
- Present text must use font included and must not be changed or moved. Present text must stay plain white, 36pt font, and stay at its current position at 5px away from the bottom-left corner.
- Submission will not contain any questionable material.

Right now, we don't have a maximum number of banners we're looking for. Put some effort into them, and hopefully there will be a lot!

The template mentioned is located here.

Jebus. Let's stop the complaining and just get on with what needs to be done.

I remember editing Metroid title screens in pure hex, doing trial and error experiments and finally got it down. However, when I tried doing this with SMB3 I didn't get very far. I know it's very similar, but some things threw me off, like palettes. IIRC, the title screen is built with lines of tiles, each line having 3 bytes that tell everything with the lines; x/y position, and I don't know the third one. Length maybe? Whatever it is, that's as far as I got. I imagine the palettes are a whole different table, each byte defining a 16x16 tile on the title screen. This is a total guess, but whatever.

All I remember was it being a total pain in my ass when editing, and wished that there was an editor for it. Will this one edit title screens?

Now that I'm inspired to do another hack, there are two editors in the works that open up the possibility of editing two games. I think this editor will be released before DD's though, so I might be choosing to hack SMRPG first. This is great!

(In particular, would there be sufficient space for having multiple fonts usable simultaneously?)
Yeah, it would be very interesting to have different NPC's have a different font for added characteristics. Culex, for example.

On another note, I haven't really seen a graphics editor for this. One thing I've noticed that I might change are the various text windows (you know, the aged paper) into something else. Also, the scrolling backgrounds for menus and things like that would be wonderful to change. The idea I had to edit graphics was pretty simple (or simpler than it *would* be) was this:

If you look at the crate in this picture, you'll notice that the left and right sides are exactly (mirrored, of course) the same, save for the palettes. Could the graphics be edited in "panels" then applied to a 3D structure?

Also, Omega, check your PM's.

The sand has a bit more yellow in it than the sand in the BG. You should drop the yellow value a bit, and desaturate it. The sand near the horizon (in the BG) is a good example. Hell, the pokey looks perfect, it's outlined with a brown instead of black, giving it that dry look. Keep up the good work, everything else looks great!

One thing I notice right off (Besides how horrible the one to the right looks) is how variable the widths are for these fonts. It seems that if you choose the right font, you can fit more letters on the 3 lines, making it suitable for longer messages and other things. Judging from your picture, I assume you can use any font your system has in it?

Is this limited to using *only* fonts present on your system? Can you go in manually and edit the fonts? Also, where the hell has Omega gone to? He needs to check his PM's again.

I can see a glyph editor panel there...

Shit, I didn't see that. Thanks, Kawa.
(Also, wtf, post didn't go through the first time?)

And just out of curiosity, are there any goodies that the developers left in the game? Hidden rooms, enemies, etc?
