I can't use bar in that game. Might be what's holding me back or it might just be that I don't care? I dunno. It just feels weird hanging on to something not that stable anyways over on my particular one (you can easily take it out). |

Too bad I have auto-block on YT embeds. Those should be fixed to be illegal and only be by link only. 56Ks do not like.

Actually, they do for a slight amount (enough to put up a script and a JPG of an image), especially if you have a multiple amount of them all at once. Slows down a 56K faster than anything else I've dealt with.

You can't hook regular headphones into it, I've learned today.
I got to handle one for someone who bought one when they came in (so it seems I found the sole person who bought one; he said they weren't lined out the door or anything when we bought one) wanting a way to plug their phone into their car radio. So any kind of 1/8" plug won't work unless it's specifically built for the device. Fortunately, he does have the option of using a decent FM transmitter. Too bad that the only one that is reliable enough to give zero interference is the Monster iCarPlay that retails for 80 bucks. |

But a salesperson isn't going to show you that. They're going to want to see if they can get you into a contract. The better the contract and the better the phone you buy from them, the more they make. You still have to have some sort of an initial contract to start out with them, however. The smallest you have (until they finally do away with them) is at least a year. That's what I've been told at least; I'm not sure if any Cingular rep would be willing to go without contract but I know Sprint works in such a fashion (you just pay a fucking high deposit and your plan sucks). If it's through Cingular, then it's really a matter of buying the phone that you want via eBay and swapping the chip out of your phone and have someone change the ESN/IMEI and SIM readouts to correspond to your phone. Cingular does like to make random checks on that to see if they match up but there are ways around that security that many people have taken advantage of over the years. That's why eBaying cell phones are so popular these days. People would rather get a new phone via that route than be forced to wait two years to get something at a decent price. Oh, and not to forget that there is such a thing as Pay As You Go. GoPhones are big for those that can deal with using their phone only a half-hour a month. |

It's very hard to find, but most lie in refurbished phones. RadioShack still prints tags where there are UNACTIVATED prices of the 50 dollar mark. Not that we still sell them; we're told to sell the 'clearance' or 'Manager's Special' items quickly so that we can get new items in. So we're forced to get our old inventory out to keep up with the competition to make our bottom line work. It's just the way sales and their target audience work.
The fact is, you aren't going to find a bare basics phone (for a plan with Sprint/Cingular) anymore. They just don't make them unless it's in a pay-as-you-go account like GoPhone, Tracfone, Virgin Mobile, etc. |

Only reason I bought one was because it was better than using a landline phone for the price that they were wanting to charge me otherwise. That and I didn't like the possibility of getting overcharged for something I wasn't going to use that much anyways. Only reason I pay phone anyways is the possibility of backup and the fact that I need some way to get on the net (56K; DSL is NOT available). |

All I can remember is that many of us felt that the PlayStation was going to be the one to flounder out of all the consoles at the start.
And look where that ended up. Besides, if we don't make any specific progressions in technology, it won't really matter. Blu-Ray's already ahead of what most people can do anyways, and if that becomes the medium in say, I dunno, 10 years...what'll happen when they use 8-layer Blu-Ray discs that encompass 200GB per disc? I'd say it's -very- possible. |

Wouldn't it be better to have dual-core for graphic purposes, though? I figured Hyper Threading allowed them to be rendered faster.
I'd figure priority would probably be better than limiting cores. Makes me wonder if DC/QC processors are really worth it. |
