You... You want to know why I'm here? How the man you call Stark came to be? It's a long journey, friend. Are you sure you can stick with it? I know there's several times when I wasn't sure that I could. He had psychic powers. But I'll tell you it all.

It all began way back at the ends of the fourth world war in 1982. Robot Hitler's robot minions were trashing the city... I was just a child then, the tender age of ten. But the resistance had been falling, and I had to do something. I grabbed my supergrandfather's plasma rifle, and I discharged it wildly into the opposing crowd. Recoil knocked me over, of course, but I managed to accomplish something no one expected... My rocket launcher aiming skyward as I fell, I fired, and struck down Robot Hitler in his stealth helicopter, just as he was making his way towards the center of the city to perform a victory by coup. As Robot Hitler hit the ground, he bounced into all of his troops, knocking them over and exploding them one by one. Also, then he exploded.

I was hailed as the greatest hero since Jack Fightmaster back at the end of the eighth world war, back in 1521. But it wouldn't last. As quickly as Robot Hitler fell, a new villain came into being. His name was Kyouji Craw, and he had psychic powers. This was in 1999, and I had grown to the tender age of 18. Unlike Super Stalin before him, Kyouji Craw needed no army. He was his own army. He had psychic powers. No army stood up to him. He had psychic powers.

We organized a secret task force to secretly breed a group of super soldiers. It was all we had. Most died in infancy, but we had one great hope. His name was Billy. He bravely went into battle. Unfortunately, Kyouji Craw... He had psychic powers. And so, we were crushed. He had psychic powers. He had psychic powers. What could we do against that? There's only one thing we could do. But killing him only brought out the real enemy, the enemy who was giving him strength. Alastor. Alastor the Stylish. A demon. It was a demon, named Alastor the Stylish, the demon. The demon Alastor the Stylish was quite a demon indeed, and it took me a long time to kill him, but then I did. In doing so, I saved sunshine forever. Did you know that it was me that saved sunshine? It's my sunshine now. I am its king.

Shoddy Battle is a nigh-perfect simulation of the battles in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, free from any percieved tedium of raising Pokémon in the videogames themselves. For those who still play Pokémon in real life, such as I, it's an excellent tool for testing the capabilities of a team before committing to making it.

For those of you who have never given Pokémon much thought, it is an extremely strategically deep game. You build a team of six Pokémon of your choosing, each one heavily customized to give different stat distributions, possibly different abilities, and different movesets and items. The sheer number of possibilities is ridiculously large, and the number of strategically viable ones is still quite high. After crafting such a team, in battle itself, each turn you have a number of possible options from what move to use or what you want to switch to. It is primarily a mind game, attempting to predict your opponent's move and counter in kind, moving to set yourself up for power plays, and breaking down your opponent's attempts to set up. See Smogon for more details. Smogon is also an excellent strategic resource. It's cool like that.

So yeah, Shoddy is pretty awesome and you should all play it. If the server registry is down (it often is) you can get to Smogon's server at shoddybattle.smogon.com on port 50000.
