Outraged community calls for ban on violent books
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Walter Smith, Age 16, killed himself in a school shooting that left 67 injured and 11 dead later Wednesday afternoon. His family is saying that the shooting was likely provoked by his obsession with books.
"It was like he was possessed," Amanda Smith, the boy's mother, said. "He used to be so outspoken, so good, but recently, he started to read more and books. We thought it was strange, but he reacted so violently when we said it might be an issue. Shortly after that, he started visiting the local library for hours at a time. But still, we never thought it would lead to this."
This shooting is the latest of many acts of violence experts say stem from the content of books. Dr. Kim Lee, professor of psychology at the local university, said "There is no doubt that we have on our hands a growing trend of book-related acts of violent crimes. A small but insignificant portion of our youths are being corrupted by these evils."
Walter's favorite book genre was military science fiction, particularly the works of the best-selling author Tom Clancy. His parents are considering joining a class-action lawsuit against Mr. Clancy. More information on this story is forthcoming.

I guess I was wrong.
Wait, no, I made that up because that is a stupid assertion. While you CAN become addicted to anything, videogames, because of their greater level of immersion than other media, of are far more likely to provoke a psychological dependancy and addiction.
