Blackhole89 should just archive it and merge with Kafuka. If he can't handle the spam, he can't handle board2. ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

Yeah that tends to happen sometime on mobile browsers with Acmlmboard sites. Honestly don't know why it does that, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason as to why only certain parts do that. Might be some sort of special sauce browser thing to increase readability for mobile users but failing.
Also I'm glad there's still someone else who's stuck on Android 6 like me. ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

Quite possibly. The <head> element you're talking about is this one:
Admittedly it's more than likely not that simple, because this is Acmlmboard! There might be some more things that would need fixing as well. Abusing tables for site layouts is bad for a mobile usability perspective as well IIRC... I usually just do the 'Desktop Site' option and zoom in, not perfect but it works. Firefox for Android (Chrome probably has something similar) has a 'Remote Debugging via USB' setting where you can connect your phone to a computer and then use some sort of DevTools thing on your computer (inspect element) to control the page. I haven't tried it though so I can't tell you how it works exactly and get it working. Also my phone is a Vernee Apollo Lite, cheapo chinese android phone. Got it in early 2017 so that'd be 4 years I've had it now. That's a long time. Hasn't been updated in just as long time, which is a shame because the hardware is not too bad, only thing is the outdated OS (no Termux or Minecraft Earth, and it's only gonna get worse ). ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

I did that a while ago. There was one Android 7 ROM if I remember correctly, but I don't know how stable it is or if it'll work. I really don't wanna flash it just to figure out there's a little bug with my cellular provider not working at all with it. I honestly just want a new phone. I was looking at some Nokia phones since I want stock Android with decent updates, instead of getting a phone with a stupid iPhone rip-off skin with bloatware and having to fiddle with flashing custom ROMs and shit. But... Linux phones are a thing now (has been for quite some time now actually), and I'm sort of drooling at the thought of that so I'm a bit split on what to choose. ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

Posted by PlokzigProbably wouldn't mind, neutral either way. Posted by PlokzigReally asking the hard hitting questions huh... It'd probably be an interesting gameplay mechanic. Graphics are nice, but it's not really a requirement (Minecraft is best played in 144p for best pixelated goodness and FPS! Oh boy, the FPS!), good music I just feel like it's a bonus to good gameplay. I have a small to medium collection of rather obscure game music, but some of these games aren't really that good. (did I even answer the question? lol) Posted by PlokzigIdk, not really into anime. ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

Posted by Plokzig Posted by PlokzigIt's just the general coziness of this place. I checked back in Kafuka recently and decided to stop by this place as well. While I first joined this place to shitpost and complain about Board2 not being merged with Kafuka or whatever, I think I've changed my mind. There's something about the low activity, the minimal 2.1 software (as compared to 2.5 which is admittedly a bit bloated at this point), and just a general feel to the board that Kafuka doesn't have. I haven't been much in forums lately, but it's a fresh experience coming from the likes of Discord with instant communication and software that's awfully resource intensive. (Still just 10MB with discord_arch_electron, very nice!) Posted by PlokzigAny sort of junk food with sourcream and onion taste... Mmm! Posted by PlokzigOh I got many, how long are you willing to listen for? Linux is absolutely lovely. I first installed Ubuntu on my laptop back in 2018 and turned what was a depressing experience under Windows with sluggish performance and random shutdowns for no reason into a lovely experience I'd in some times pick over my desktop (which was running Windows 7 back then). It wasn't perfect though. I experienced my fair share of bugs, glitches and annoying stupid garbage (why is everything outdated? why does my screen flicker when I wake it from sleep?) that I thought was specific to Linux, but turned out to just be specific to GNOME and Ubuntu. Eventually I switched to Manjaro with KDE, since I would get some advantages with it being an Arch-based distro (pacman, actually up-to-date (actually, very up-to-date!), rolling release which is just absolutely delicious, the AUR, etc) which basically fixed everything I disliked about Ubuntu and GNOME. I loved it so much I decided after a while my desktop, which at the time was sitting on the sinking Windows 7 ship, was gonna get the Linux love as well. I got a new SSD for Linux, installed it and got hooked. This was in like September 2020, and I've never looked back ever since. I think I've only booted into Windows twice, first was for moving over some databases, second was accidental due to GRUB defaulting to Windows for whatever reason. Personally I find Linux an absolute joy to use. Package manager keeping everything nice and tidy, up to date, can detect orphaned packages, and lost files lying around in the filesystem. As a bonus it also makes everything smaller since dependencies are usually not statically linked and bundled with a program's package (discord_arch_electron, 10MB Discord, available from the AUR!). Core programs (for KDE in particular) are so much better than their Windows counterparts. Like Dolphin, which is leagues better than whatever Explorer is doing. Have you ever opened the "My computer" page just to have it load for 15 seconds for no real reason? Yeah, me too, never happens with Dolphin. Plasma is a sleek, light, beautiful and customizable (it's extremely modular!) desktop environment that's just absolutely delicious! KFind actually works compared to whatever abomination Windows has for searching that literally never works. It not only works, it can even search the contents of files! Binary ones! And it just goes on like that. Kate is nice, it's a lightweight text editor like Notepad, but it's got features more similar of a code editor or a straight up IDE. Kdenlive is an amazing and fully featured video editor for the low low price of 0$, no watermarks! Konsole is also leagues better than Windows old and aging command prompt, but its name always makes me check my language settings. And don't even get me started about other free software... At the end of the day, it's just plain fast, lightweight and easy to use compared to Windows, and I really mean it. Windows was a constant struggle to do whatever I wanted to do, using unstable installers, gigabytes of bloat to whatever I wanted to do, a finnicky system core that's hard to change and customize, and just in general an absolute mess with files and programs all over the place. On Linux everything just plain and simply works, and everything is all tidy and managed by your package manager. Setting up a LAMP stack (on arch at least) is as simple as installing a couple of packages (300 MB at most), and maybe configuring one or two config files and you're up and running. It will always get the latest updates through your package manager with no additional interaction needed, on Windows you'll need to install WAMP or something similar, and you'll need to manually keep it up to date yourself by downloading installers containing updates. I don't remember how big it is from the top of my head, but it was like a gigabyte, give or take. Also, compiling stuff is a joy, GCC and such usually comes installed with the distro, and if not it's a simple package manager command away. I wrote a small program in C++ for automatically patching the executable of an old game with "mods" distributed as xdelta patches. I wrote it all under Linux, and for working on the Windows version, I would cross-compile it for Windows using MinGW and then test it under Wine (which works pretty well actually). I actually tried to compile it for Windows on my school laptop, but it just wouldn't even want to compile, even though I was compiling it with MinGW there as well. Turns out Linux is better for Windows even when making Windows programs, which I consider a bit ironic. Oh yeah, Wine. It's cool. There's a rather small amount of Windows-only programs and games I want that work under Linux on Wine, one of them being said old game even though it was written by two Swedish guys under Gentoo with only free software... There was a Linux version but it was never released, and they were going to open source it back in 2016, but nothing ever came from it so we're stuck with a closed source Windows version we'll have to hack on to modify for the time being. So, uh, yeah. I have a whole lot of thoughts on using Linux as a desktop operating system. lol ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |

Posted by PlokzigWell as long as your distro maintainer doesn't give up on you you should be good to go. Everything, even drivers and such, being open source would make it easy to continue maintaining it unofficially if the official maintainers ever were to give up. Hopefully. If anyone would care about it that is. Posted by PlokzigOh, I actually haven't heard about that. Seems like not even official ROMs are free of bugs, I'll be sure to watch out for that. ____________________ Average phpBB fan: Average Acmlmboard enjoyer: |
