Hi there, guess who just finished a hack a last month! Mee! Im so happy! With the release of mario maker i was literally so bummed. Anyway, i got over it and took a break but started again! I finished my 2nd game. It's called Super Mario 3.75 Torva. (There's a long story behind that lol) i just wantes to tell anyone who's just beginning this that it is a longgg road. But it's a lot of fun and when you have your own finished product it's worth it. Seeing what others are doing now even inspires me to wanna make a 3rd game (which i plan to). I never thought i'd be doing what im doing now but with patience you can. Quick Curly and JaSp and a few of the others here have helped me immensely and i only understand hexidecimal. Anyways, as Soon as i work out my minor problems with the game in general im going to sumbmit it!

Also! Thank you all for giving this game life for the last 28 years.

I have a question for something that's bothering me for some time.

Since I've been thinking of what I wanna do for my next game, it's been bothering me heavily, How do you redirect the underground and giant levels to another level and enemy offset instead of the pointer to 1-5 ending

as well as the water ending levels that redirect you to 3-1 ending. I've been curious, can you reroute them to any level ending? I'd love to create something from scratch for my next game i just don't know where or how to find the values.
anyone ?

Yes Quick Curly I do plan on still releasing my hacks. I actually could probably patch the one I called "Torva" and then upload it. The only problem is im not even sure what kind of rom i used to hack it. I'm sure it's probably a PRG 1 rom but still. I can't remember as it's been so long I used the same rom to create both my games and I started back in January of 2013 lol but I'll patch it anyway and send it to you! The game is 106 levels. Seven worlds and it's pretty interesting. I'm reimaging my first hack though because since I've released the second one, or at least played it, the first one feels terribly difficult and incomplete lol but I was still learning so it's okay. That's why i'm reimaging it! Thank you for the info though. That's exactly what I needed!!

I have one last question... I've literally spent the last two hours trying to figure out why in the world this 3byte object (one of the blocks used for decoration, aka the one you can make the vines go into when you don't want them to climb anymore) I redesigned it for the hilly levels because im doing a graphic hack but it keeps switching back to the way it used to look temporarily, meaning it'll flash between what i reimaged it as and what it used to be. Can someone please explain why? Can I disable it without messing up the other 3 byte objects from the 3byteobject bank 1? or would i have to reimage both? and if so i honestly don't know how i tried using a TSA editor thinking maybe if the 3byte object was actually two or three different graphics repeated to give the illusion of one still image that happened to be the same, maybe i could just use the tsa to overwrite all the images to show the new image. I was using Super Mario Bros 3 workshop to hack the 3byte object from the rom bank. This happened when i tried to hack a jellyfish onto the world map as well so i just gave up lol the animation would show a jelly fish, then the rock C i used to do the graphic hack. it would alternate between the two and unless i had a way to stop the animation (like using world 5 map) then it'd keep alternating between the two

Hello, I was using the SMB3 workshop to edit the graphics on my SMB3 rom and I noticed that it doesn't load each consecutive set you're tryiing to edit. I tried editing the clouds theme and the plains 2 theme and neither worked. the clouds theme was somehow connected to the sky graphic set (which is just weird seeing as they aren't even in the same rom bank) and the plains 2 set doesn't even register. Does anyone now of any other graphic utilities to get these to show? I've edited like at least six different graphic set so far. Just little things here and there and i find it so much fun. I'm almost finished with world 5 of this hack i just planned two months ago which is absolutey crazy but im having fun! I'm going to release this one and the game I just finished in April together. I'm so excited! Any help is much appreciated thank you!!

YES! Please feel free to close it im sorry i only had it open because i felt the question was more relatable to the actual SMB3workshop than the game itself!

I have a question regarding the mushroom houses? I noticed somehow I was able to change the pallettes to the mushroom houses (the ones you can actually go into) and (The white mushroom) I also wanna change the pallette to the one that specifically accesses the warp whistle in W1 - 3. The only question i have is, is the pointer for this mushroom house actually around somewhere or is it the same pointer as the white mushroom? Just curious! I'd like to have three different colored mushroom houses.

Hi Termingamer2-JD,

I like to use Super Mario Bros 3 Worshop. It's MOSTLY good about getting putting levels together and whatnot. I've made several custom levels using that in conjunction with SMB3map editor. I consider myself a newbie to most of this even though I'm literally just finishing up my third game. The only advice I could give you making custom levels is please be patient with yourself! and watch your bytes (If you're reimaging an already made level ) and your enemies and you'll be okay! I wish you the best of luck

As far as the music goes, I haven't the slightest idea because I haven't made it to that yet although i'd really love to hear the birabuto theme in super mario bros 3. I wish I could put it in my game XD

@Quick Curly and all my other faves here...

Both my games are complete. I'm going to try to patch them soon here. I'll update with more info tomorrow.

*is lazy, doesn't wanna screencap photos now*

I'll let you know now.

Game one : For intermediate players who enjoyed SMB3 and want something that's different. Not so much in difficulty but in level structure. The only graphic hacks that have been implimented in the seventh world. (There's seven worlds plus a hidden secret i wont speak of) It was streamed on twitch but that was before all the extras were added in.

Game two: I've been very hush hush about! I started it in May and finished it at the end of September/Beginning of October. The graphics are different from the original and the "Game One".

More info soon!!!

Hello all!

I just wanted to let you know through all the frustration and whatnot, both my games (previously called Game A and Game B on the post board), Super Mario Bros 3.75 Torva Edition, and 3.67 Fae Earrings Edition are in the queue as I just submitted them. Please be on the lookout. I'm sorry if the Page for Torva is a bit sloppy I never previewed it to see what it would look like. Anyways! Thank you all so much! This is a big win for me! This would not have been made possible without everyone's help here and my desire to actually read it all lol. I do not know ASM but it might be something i do learn (I've been saying this for a year and a half now lol) I'm going to at least try to finish two more games before 2020. Thank you all for helping me make this dream come true though. It means a lot!

does anyone else find trying to change an actual song in the game frustrating? I'm trying to change the world 1 grass land's map music as i figured it'd be the easiest to target. Parden my french but im having a shitty time with it in general. Thankfully i downloaded super mario bros 3 music editor so i understand where the headers are in the rom but that's about it loli dont understand anything else. if anyone is curious im trying to import the birabuto theme in some way. if i cant ill probably try something else but i really wanted to try a musical change this time round for my mini game.

I have a solid question! However i just wanna say hi everyone! I have missed you all so much this year. I've been staying away to work on a relatively easier minihack that im tryng to get out before the end of february. I'm trying to implement a new idea i didnt have in torva or fae earrings.

anyways! SO MY QUESTION IS:

I've decided to use a different graphic set for my overworld map pipes. (my first set im making is a plains set) I assume this is possible considering how Sky tower is done in and of itself. I have the SMB3 map utility so if anyone is using that and could explain at least how the pipes work lol. ive already made custom levels for the pipe but when i go into the pipe It starts the level like regular level (I have the header set so that it does nothing when you enter the level) I would imagine i need to set the enemy used for the warp pipes at a certain place but im honesly not that savvy lol. thank you for anyone out there listening. I appreciate it! Happy Holidays you guys!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who continues to work hard to make this game so much fun and show how to do new things. At the beginning of this decade i never dreamt i would have accomplished what i have personally or seen the kind of things I have. I am so thankful to have found this forum and I really appreciate the vast amount f information here that has helped me. I still don't know ASM it's still too intimadating to me but this year I'm going to try to change that. This decade is ending and it's insane how Super Mario bros 3 is still popular after thirty years! I'm so glad that all of us have made the dent that we have with this game and I hope you all continue on your ventures to discover new things. Wish me luck on my ASM journey lol
