Yeah, I bought the wrong fan a few weeks ago and want to order a correct one. It's mounting type was different. So... This isn't the exact same board, but still the same brand and mount. Picture. What should I be looking for then? I don't have much to spend.

Well, I discovered ||board first. No one told me about this one, so I found it a few weeks later after being skeptical of the whole "Acmlm's Board II" idea. I've stayed neutral to the conflict. At first, there was a very brief week or two where ||board arguably the one more worth posting on. That didn't last at all. Now pretty much nobody logs in, not even the mods or admins.

What's even more unusual is this board was starting to degrade also, then that rather odd thread of mine earlier brought it to many members' attention and a lot more people are logging on now.

Yes, that Darkrai/Shaymin glitch was fixed in the US release. However... Since the US and Japanese save files are fully compatible, if you're using a flash cart or some way to transfer saves, you can swap files to enable it.

Nope. You're thinking of FAT32 limitations.

Still, 4GB is pretty big (Try getting debian's dvds) so use a download manager anyway

Who is that comment directed toward? I run NTFS, as my original post implies.

It's custom, soon to be upgraded.

Motherboard- Foxconn 761GXK8MB-RS
Processor- Athlon 64 3400+
Memory- 1GB DDR-400
Audio- Realtek integrated 5.1
Video- eVGA GeForce 7600GTS (not listed on manufacturer's site)
HD- 160GB and 200GB, both Western Digital
Optical- DVD-ROM and DVD-RW

The only name brand model I owned was an NEC I'd bought in 2000.

I've had the opposite experience than most people actually or supposedly do. A few months ago I upgraded from a pirated XP to genuine retail-box Vista as an emergency measure to stop the rampant bluescreens. It worked too, not a single bluescreen has occured for me since ditching that garbage XP was.

Doesn't it seem like the enemies in World A-1 move faster? As if they were planning to create a 'hard mode' of sorts.

The Halo series is tolerable, but I doubt I'll get this beta. I'm too busy with Saints Row to want an open-world game like Crackdown right now.

I haven't gotten into RTSs much. Played a tiny bit of SC a few years ago, sometimes I'll play that Dawn of War game. Can't afford to buy SupCom or CnC3 now though.

Don't believe all that crap and misconceptions flung about online. The correct statement is: 2000>95>>Vista>>>ME>>>>98>>>>>XP.

XP is not just slow, it is a blue-screen ridden virus so awful it doesn't even belong in the same multiverse as the word "garbage".

I urge everyone to use 2000, Vista, OS X, or their favorite *nix.

Hehe. Just had the first blue-screen under Vista, as well as the second unusual thing to happen while running a Fire Emblem game. Several years back, when Acmlm's Board was a clock counting down to the next incarnation, I'd tried to pass time (with the previous FE no less) and ended up registering late. > Link.

Post any FE moments of yours here.

Yeah. You might recall me saying a while back several times that I've had trouble progressing in this, compared to other games in the series.

I finally made part of my new hardware work (the rest arrives later this week). But, as normal for NT-based operating systems, changing the mobo caused major problems.

I'll quote an email I wrote to a relative. "Unlike XP or 2000, Vista won't install
from the disc's bootable menu IF you enter the exact same serial number as the existing installation. Not only that, but the XP installer can't remove or bypass Vista's new boot loader making that not an option. AND I don't have free space on the C drive to make another Vista install either."

This means I need to make Vista think it's no longer installed, or remove that boot loader so I can install XP. Can anyone help please?

I'm running Knoppix from the live disc. Currently neither XP nor Vista will install. XP fails because upon the first reboot, Vista's boot loader appears meaning there's no sign of XP at all. Vista fails for two different reasons. A being I don't have enough hard drive space to make a separate install. Or B, the fact that unlike XP and 2000, Vista refuses to install over an installation using the same CD key as the one you try to overwrite.

If anyone here knows how to edit the MBR from within Linux, that would be one of the least-risky options I may have.

Progress report- I unplugged my two drives with the issues and installed Windows 2000 on a 10GB I had sitting around. Now I need a/an program(s) which can scan hard drives, and rebuild the partition table. This should be simple, the data is physically still on those two. I'll plug the drives back after googling for and downloading recovery utilities...

Tried a few here and there. I'm not into MMOs much either.

WoW (on haitus until I deposit money to use it)
Flyff
Guild Wars (Factions was free bundled with hardware, don't have Nightfall yet)
Maplestory
Everquest II (just the demo disc)
Perhaps some others I forgot about

I've played Phantasy Star Universe and Diablo II offline, but not in multiplayer.

Rocks'n'Diamonds - a Boulderdash-like game with built in level editor, and is also GPL licensed. Very customizable in other words.

Just Windows XP SP2 on this currently. I tinker with things often, so it may or may not change.

My spare computer runs Mac OS 9. Let me tell you right now, OS9 flat-out sucks.

Overrated:

Dragon Quest series - Old-school feel and world famous art/music team, but the gameplay in them just doesn''t interest me.

Super Metroid - Much like Zero Mission, this game suffers from a simple yet major problem that could have been corrected literally via 1 byte. The final boss had so little HP it ruined the entire experience.

Counter Strike - Constant 1-hit skills and having to wait between spawns? No thank you.

Underrated:

Mega Man X4- No explanation needed. Mega Man X4 is the greatest game of all time.

Sonic Heroes (PC)- Where do I start? Upbeat soundtrack, improved graphics, proper gamepad support, and pure fun all around. Sega blew it releasing this some 9 months after the other systems, at a budget price, and with no attempt of marketing whatsoever. Not to mention being alongside Halo 2 and San Andreas which was a proverbial death sentence for even the best games that holiday season.

Puyo Pop Fever - No matter what system you obtain it on, this is a must-play title. I'm coining a new term here, "massively-multiplatform". Something which didn't carry over as much to it's international appearances. Look up the game, you'll see versions of this alone for many systems.

Saints Row - While yes, it was inspired by GTA as many games are now, Saints Row refines a few key elements and cuts out several unneeded ones. As an example... Instead of airplanes which didn't really become too useful in GTA, you get far better physics in general. Driving over cars using a semitruck and watching them explode underneath you rocks. Swimming is optional in this, you're allowed to warp to shore anytime rather than be stuck manually finding a suitable place.

The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction - Pick up a bus or any other carryable object, run up the nearest wall, jump off, hit the targeting button, and send your weapon go flying at it's target. The combo system alone makes this game awesome. In addition, the Xbox version works flawlessly for 360
owners.

Other underrated games:

Mega Man X8 (PC)
Sonic Adventure DX (PC)
Vigilante 8
F-Zero series
Serious Sam series
MechAssualt series
Full Auto

And I'll comment on one more title. I'm not claiming it to be underrated or overrated:

Guild Wars - Great graphics, character design, soundtrack, skill system, etc. However, too many people use it like an IRC client instead of an MMO as it was intended to be. This is something not quite so prevalent in WoW or any other online game I've played.
