I guess that makes me old at heart, though not age. I still sometimes forget and talk about things like Commodore 64 in the present tense. ____________________ |

Another recall? Meh. At least it's not a big uproar like some were.
I have that old US PS2 version of GTA San Andreas which was re-rated to AO, they discontinued such copies after the rating change. I think those fetch high eBay values if you can sneak one in normal areas without being caught (AO stuff is supposed to be listed elsewhere on the site). PC and Xbox ones are probably even rarer, being on shelves only a few weeks instead of over 6 months like for PS2. ____________________ |

Sorry, flamehackerleo. Even I'm better at using the Story Forum than this. ____________________ |

I can't stand the DS "scene". They start out with all that 'Golden Sun Team' stuff or whatever. There's a big dispute over slot-1 flash carts vs. slot-2. The Japanese Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were both overdumped to double their correct size, yet no one has bothered to fix it so far...
Not to mention ridiculous ways of constant PSP bashing. Similar to PC fanboys, they'll take any statement that's a legitimate flaw in the DS or it's games, and turn it around into flamebait by trolling poster of said comment. ____________________ |

Generally, people are nicer when an experienced hacker announces intentional joke hacks. Rather than the more common situation where a total newbie claims their efforts to be good. ____________________ |

I think so. I've been looking years for a US Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire 1.0 ROM without that stupid intro hack. I'd make the ROM myself if someone here can tell me where to get a GBA copier. ____________________ |

I was talking about constant flame-esque and illogical bashing. Stuff which goes beyond "netiqutte". Not just stating facts, or reasonably unbiased opinions. ____________________ |

I found a PS2 HDD cheap and grabbed it. Deleted Final Fantasy XI, don't have an account or the PS2 disc. So the drive's empty now.
Question is... What to do with such an item. I lack any soldering tools or skill, and couldn't get memory card exploits working. Which makes me curious if there's a way to run homebrew from the HDD (install an exploit using Swap Magic?). Obviously, the system in it's current state isn't going to boot a self-burned disc or USB flash drive for installing software from those. Otherwise a retail HDxtreme/HDadvance or whatever it's called might help. I'm not too concerned with PS1 programs. Those run fine on other devices of mine. And I don't own or have access to a single foreign DVD either, therefore that's unimportant. Any suggestions? ____________________ |

Heh. Zelda Classic is fun and certainly worth playing, but ZCF looks quite abandoned. I'm attempting to maintain a list of boards based on Acmlm's code, search in my wiki. ____________________ |

The funny part is Nippon Ichi has never developed, published, or licensed a game for any non-Sony platform. They don't have any sort of official agreement with Sony on that however, so they're capable should interest arise. ____________________ |

Um... Might want to read that post a little closer. The PS2 in it's current state can only read pressed discs. Also, as implied before, I've already tried and failed using a memory card exploit.
AR Max detects USB flash drives of mine correctly. But if I put in an "exploited" PSX game, nothing unique happens. It just loads up the game normally. PAL? Well, I don't have a PAL TV set. Those are virtually impossible to obtain in the US. Probably due to a limited market for it here. Lack of soldering skill is irrelevant too. I lack that equipment anyway. And the knowledge of where to find it. For some reason "chip" dealers tend to sell the solder, yet not soldering tools. Frankly, WTF? That's just illogical. ____________________ |

OK! I've got LaunchELF v4.12 running at this very moment. I used:
AR Max, a USB flash drive, and one PSX trigger disc (Ready 2 Rumble Round 2). Now what? There isn't much I can do at the current screen except perhaps copy files from the flash drive. ____________________ |

Looks like a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 512MB. So far I've tested Rockman Megaworld (w00t!) in Pgen, and my SMW hack in SNESstation.
Disgaea 1 and Mega Man X7 seem to work using HDLoader. I might connect the HD to my PC, so I can use WinHIIP. This should get around the problems with trying to read read burned discs, since it'd let me copy ISOs directly onto the drive. ____________________ |

Well, I own a SuperCard CF. It's a fine card overall. But I'll tell you in-depth some things it doesn't seem to do.
128KB saves in GBA mode: used by Pokemon FR/LG/Emerald, etc. Inexcusable if you ask me, I don't know of a technical reason why they didn't add this. Large saves are fine in DS mode. Tilt sensor, Rumble, Solar sensor, etc: Lacks the physical hardware required for such features. Action Replay, etc: No. Those aren't going to detect it as a normal game. Learn the built-in cheat feature instead. Nintendo DS browser: No. There might be a patch to boot from a Slot-1 card, using SuperCard CF as the RAM cart however. Now for the multiplayer side. Linking to a standard GBA cart directly via link cable: Generally fine. GBA wireless adapter: Untested. Nintendo Wi-Fi connection: Works. Won't exit out of the menu without a reset in certain games. Download play: Possibly a bit buggy, but sometimes works. Pokemon Colosseum, Colosseum Bonus Disc, XD, Box, Battle Revolution: NO. Will not connect to these! eReader via link cable: Untested. Don't let this discourage you. Few, if any, flash carts have all of the above elements 100% free from glitches. You'll save a ton of money in the long run. Per GB, generic memory cards like CF and SD are far cheaper than Nintendo's DS carts. Even a PSP disc holds TEN times what Nintendo currently allows. ____________________ |

Be certain you're always inserting them before the power button is hit. DS is like any other cart-based system in that regard. With Action Replay DS as the lone exception, you need to switch while on for it. ____________________ |

Posted by theclaw YES! My guess was right. Download ISOs, connect HD to the PC, than transfer said ISOs to it using WinHIIP. It's an "unlimited evaluation". ____________________ |

There's been talk of recruiting new staff. A few already have, but word is that applications may open soon. I'll apply should it happen. ____________________ |

Actually... There's a technical reason. When we archive and restart between incarnations, the ban list is reset. ____________________ |
