So I'm asking questions in #mediawiki (irc.freenode.net) about the MW code our Fraxy Wiki is using, and one of the questions is about a weird version number glitch.

because it displays "1.14alpha" for the MW version, when I know we're using 1.12.1

cause the text "1.12.1" in your installation to morph into "1.14alpha"

"Play movement" isn't unreliable, you just need to know what it means. If an object is stopped ("Movement: 0 Off" or something like that in the editor) then, well, it's off. If you script an event to start the part moving, then the "play movement" condition will be true.

Pointed out on IRC by Kironide, this is a space-MMO created by an indie development group. It's not finished yet, though there's a sort of "prototype" called ICP that shows off the combat and physics engines, and some other stuff. They say to expect the alpha testing stage to begin in early/mid 2009.

15 is the maximum, yeah, but I can't think of an overly elegant way (apart from a long series of proofs for all possible cases based on points) of proving it now*, nor see any immediate algorithm to maximize the piece number for larger numbers of cuts yet.

*I just realized it's fairly easy. Consider a trivial lemma that you won't get even 15 if any of the first three cuts are parallel, then consider the point where the three first cuts intersect accordingly. You'll see that, no matter how you rotate or translate the fourth cutting plane, owing to the perpendicular of the intersection point onto the plane, at least one of the eight cubes that have said point as a vertex isn't going to be intersected by it.
This is not English, what is wrong with you?!() (also, "lemma"? is that actually a word? (not silly German nonsense )).

Something to note, this game requires some pretty good specs.

Recommended System Requirements
Win98 or later Win2k/WinXP
128mb 256MB Graphics Card or better
512mb 1GB of RAM or better
Intel Pentium 2ghz 2.4GHz and equivalent or better

Minimum System Requirements (No surfaces mode)
Win98 or later
64mb Graphics Card
256mb of RAM
Intel Pentium 1.5ghz and equivalent

As you get more and bigger ships into the action, the system requirements go up really, really fast, especially the graphics requirements.

I played the game with a setup of:
512MB Graphics Card
WinXP
1.5GB RAM
2.8GHz Pentium 4 CPU

and got between 8-10 (lots and lots of action) and 25-30 (6-8 medium-small/medium sized ships) FPS with maximum graphics settings.

It's definitely a fun game, though making custom ships can get complicated at times.

Hm, no SC2 thread? Well, that needs to be remedied! Starcraft was an amazing game, which still has a sizable player-base more than 11 years after its release, and a huge fan following. I used to play it a lot, but now I'm just waiting for SC2 to come out...

I'm less than excited about that too, and really I can't see them needing to do it from a money standpoint at all; WoW makes them billions per year probably... but if they include enough story with each installment/"expansion", I'll be happy (and maybe if it's only ~$10 each ).
