I already posted this on romhacking.net in your thread there but its relevant to everyone who hacks Z3 so ill post it here also...
A bush is made up 4 8px by 8px tiles which creates one 16px by 16px tile. This tile is then hardcoded so that when Link interacts with it (picks up the bush) it replaces the tile with another 16px by 16px tile and places a sprite of the bush above links head. In order to create a new/more detailed bush you just add in the GFX tiles for both the bush on the ground and the sprite link picks up and then in Hyrule Magic set those tiles to tile type 80. Tile type 80 tells the game that the tile Link's interacting with is a bush and needs to use the green palette for the sprite he holds. Tile type 81 for example is for the desert brown bushes, 82 is the light coloured rocks etc... So this technique also works for the small rocks located in the game. All the 16x16 objects function on a similar level but if you want to edit the larger rocks then you will have to edit the tilemap through hex. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Your spriting/gfx talents are beginning to freak me out icegoom. Seriously this looks too good for a SNES to even possibly handle ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by KPhoenixIf you click on the link below to view my vague collection of help on asm hacking and zelda3 from Euclid youll see that part way down in the first Lesson is a quick run down of GEIGER'S SNES9X debugger which might help you out. http://www.wku.edu/~james.martin2/resh/z3data.html ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Yay BG Editor!
How exactly does the graphics work for the backgrounds? Im assuming the garbled graphics at the bottom of the tileset is whats used for the backgrounds?! ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by Sgraff87Hm... Yeah thanks... Oddly enough uploading it i suddenly could see what was wrong.... the tops look like you are viewing them from the top and the bottoms from head on... Strange as I ripped part of the design from earthbound. Improved version coming once i get some sleep. Thanks for the advice Sgraff ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by S.N.N.Now that im aware of... The is a whole asm project im working on albeit slowly where the overlay layer is used as a whole new layer for the overworld just like the dungeons. My asm hacking is rusty/not advanced enough yet but i have made a few breakthroughs so far. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by Kyoufu KawaTheres a perfectly good reason for them to overlap. If youve noticed the scroll jumps into affect as soon as you enter that boundary. If they didnt overlap then Samus would have to jump visibly off screen in order to start scrolling up (As is the case with the first area of ZM). Looking forward to april 7. With a background and palette editing integrated I'll be able to continue my small hack. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

God i hate this day... I love waking up in the morning and reading the various news posts that are available to read but with April's fools every single media outlet becomes a useless waste of space.
The one day where I don't believe anything and read absolutely no news. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by Klestrue but if that's the case then there's no point in reading the joke in the first place. I went and told my folks i was pregnant...the look on their faces suggested they didn't believe me...that and I am biologically incapable of giving birth. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by SinfjotleNa Link settles down but his obsession with his glory days results in him being a lone bar fly....He's the dude you find down the pub that teaches you how to play bar billiards and smokes a crap load of marajuana - there's a reason his favourite colour is green). ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by TrapsterWhen was Link ever in the mood for adventuring? He is always thrown into it. Link to the past - woken up in bed by a voice in his head who tells him to help her! Ocarina of time - An old tree tells him he is dying and the world needs Link to save them all. Link's awakening - Link is stranded on an island having to find a way to escape. The original Zelda sees him dropped in the middle of a valley with only a cave and an old geezer who hands him a sword as a clue to what he needs to do to get home. I agree Link needs a rest after fate screwing him over as much as it does. But a question just popped into my head...When has a Zelda game actually referred to him as a guy? Link is possibly one of the most sexless characters ever. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Ah TEK was always good...bit mixed at times though. One minute it was full of members the next they all disappeared...then they all returned again.
My main issue with the whole community was that I never got any hacking done...still dont for that matter. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by AdamantThats the first time I've ever seen that. I made a pretty discusted face by it. Reminds me of the shitty cartoons they also subjected us to in the old days. Zelda is meant to be a Royal classy lady but instead the intro makes her come off as a playing hard to get whore and Link as a horny "dude".Posted by MervillPosted by Jinsei, benevolent star Bwah curse my now ruined eyes. On the subject of Hyrulean genitalia what makes you think a Hyrule male is the same as a human one. Link might not have a penis at all. And at that I think the creepy discussions should stop ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |

Posted by HyperHackerWhats to say a Hylian is a mammal? No where in Zelda does it say that. The Zoras for example lay eggs (as shown by Majora's Mask). And sorry Koitenshin I even grossed myself out when I read my post again. ____________________ Deviant Art Profile |
