Question for moderators

Since you've just mentioned a warning.
I found a rare hack of Zelda3 for snes, called Stone Tablets.
Can I upload an IPS patch that will convert the original game
Link to the Past into this hack?

The problem is that this ''hack'' was actually done by Nintendo,
so no hacker owns it. Usually the ips contains the changes we made,
but in this case the changes were also done by original authors.

I agree. I had a word with some other players, who regard such
an ips file as an entire rom. So, anyone wants to play this
"hack" or rom, find it on the net. There is a special (not online)
version.

This is the file name:
BS Zelda no Densetsu - Kodai no Sekiban - Dai-1-wa (Japan) (BS)
[En+Fix by BSZHP v20090614]
(~BS The Legend of Zelda - Ancient Stone Tablets - Week 1)

The same for Week 2-4
The same for Master Quest 1-4

Advice to bradzx / bdotson

Don't ask / tell the hacker:
-to finish the hack
-when the hack will be done
-that you want an update
-that his hack is bugged (despite the fact that it may be so)
-that his hack is bad
-that he should change the hack
-that his hack is bugged (when it's not) and that
you want update fixes (patch to the correct rom first,
or use the proper emulator)

You don't have to glory the hack either, stay neutral.
It is enough to respect the hackers work, nothing else
is necessary.

Oh, and don't renew old post with questions.
I'm sure SePH will finish the game, when he can.
And if this is years away, we have to respect that.
(Plus, a lot is done already).

For everyone that like this hack... I'm working on the final 2.0
version (new mountain area and zora domain, one more semidungeon,
a lot of new caves... basically it will be the extended version
of the game with text, map and other fixes). Coming soon.

Nice to hear that you are back and working on this game.
It is very promising.

The new 2.0 version is done.

Download

New in version 2.0

1. All texts are fixed! (Don't tell me that they are not. Don't use v1-7 saves on
v2-0 rom! Because the text will be displaied wrong, but the inner meta data for texts
is correct).
2. New locations for ice rod, flippers and moon pearl.
3. New overworld areas (mountain areas, Zora domain and the grave area).
4. Fixed overworld maps.
5. Various overworld sprite and drawing updates.
6. A lot of new caves and small dungeons.
7. One more semi dungeon.
8. New darkworld areas (new locations for two darkworld dungeons).
9. Link's door is fixed (it was bugged before)
10. When you are defeated in the dark world, you can restart normally (there was a bug before)
11. Darkworld sprites are updated (they were bugged before)
12. Updated dungeons (for instance the gameplay logic of the 3rd=water dungeon was
changed. It is now more complex, the 2nd=one-room-dungeon is completely new, etc)
13. New testing.
14. The game is longer (extended), has less bugs and it is more challenging.

@Disco Peach

I've heard that you want to change the Zora Domain area
into the beach area. I've tried something similar
when one of my roms got corrupt and I wanted to transfer
the data to other rom. But this rom has different gfx tiles
and the picture was corrupt. Changing the gfx value doesn't help.

So I was wondering how do you import export the tiles' gfx
from one rom to another?

I also tried the search option in HMagic where you have the
find blocks window. Here you can save and load. You can
save normally, but when you load such .dat file, nothing is changed.
The picture is still corrupt.

This game is in beta version (unfinished). There is no Zelda in the cellar,
but she should be there (sprite bug). You have 2 options: get the save state (Zelda is already saved) and continue (note, you can't finish the game completely);
or try the debugged, redone, remodeled, extended version
of the game that I made, called Zelda Goddess of Wisdom v2-0. The core of the
game is the same.

This is version Goddess of Wisdom v2-0! (new and final version of the game)

After you get the first crystal, go to the village and then go left (where the pyramid is). In this area go left and then down. If you continue, you'll come to the cave. Remove the rock with the power glove and get the Cape.
Return to the village. Now go south (down), at the bridge turn left.
There is a cave in the wall at the end of this road. Go through it (you need a cape). (This is simillar as in the old version).

Now you'll come to the new grave area. The dungeon's entrance is
in the middle of the graves (this is a small = one room dungeon = planed by Omega,
so I couldnt make it longer, but it is full of tricks; watch for the star. It says that
something is hidden).

There is a trick. Pull the small spheres with Hookshot,
then destroy them with Ice Rod. This Rod is in the cave just
south of the village.

Remember the Pyramid. North of the pyramid there's a cave.
In there you have the Mirror Shield to block the shooter beams.

There are 2 bottles in the village (buy one from the bottle guy,
the other is in the small house). The third bottle is in the forest.
Go to the very west and very north, and enter that cave.

With 3 fairies, Ice Rod and Mirror Shield you can defeat this
enemy, but without this items it is probably impossible.

This is how you defeat this enemy

PS
Just don't give up, the next dungeons are cool (but the
bosses are difficult).
It is also adviced to play with the joystick (I hope you have it already).

Since you are playing with the keyboard, I'm sure it will be very
difficult to finish this game. In the next dungeon there are 2 bosses,
that are more difficult than this one.

Try it with full health potion. If this doesn't work and you get
frustrated use this cheat code. If you use it, you can't be defeated.

0780F7CF

It works in ZSNES and Snes9x emulators.

edit

this is how it is done (I used only 2 fairies)

Yes, you can jump across big pits with the shoes.
This boss is a special one. It's actually a result of a uneditable sprite gfx
in the game itself. Can be frustrating, so I heard. Here you definatelly
need some potion. It is also adviced to get full arrows (30).
When you come to the red knight, multi use the sword and hit up,
and he'll just bump on the sword everytime.

You can't upgrade your armor in this game, but there's a weapon
update in this dungeon (the mountain dungeon) in a chest...

Remember the grave area. Fly there (number 6). Go through the graves,
to come to the cave at the very right. There are hammer bumps there
that you couldnt hit before. This cave will get you to the mountains.
Follow the path, and you'll come to the new areas, (they were added,
they were not there in the previous version of the game). Here you'll
get new items.

I started to remodel the original Zelda A Link to the Past game a long time ago.
Unlike Goddess of Wisdom this is a modification, but despite that
the dungeons are quite different to solve with a lot of new tricks and hidden
objects. The star on the floor has many meanings in this game. Sometimes it will
change the pits on the floor, but usually it means that something is hidden.
In this case lift or hammer everything. At one point it even serves as a switch
for opening the door.

I was concentrating to change the gameplay as much as possible, so even a veteran
of the game can easily get stuck. The game is also more difficult than the original,
but still quite easy at some points. Despite the fact that this is a remodel,
it still took a lot of work, specially because of the number of the dungeons.
The overworld, however, is less modified, but there are a lot of barriers, that
will force you to search for the correct path. A smart player will quickly see,
that this is much more than just another vapid master quest.

Puzzles and gameplay strategy is more difficult (and more changed) here,
but in Bruce Campbell vs Ganon some bosses are more difficult.
