Im new to this board and im hoping to get some good info Im hacking MM2 with VISINE and I want to change the effect of the air in Crash Mans stage to the effec of Water from bubble mans stage which would emulate space kinda like from Satr mans stage in MM5 in VISINE its type 0 which is air 1 is solid bricks and 2 is ladders idk what 3 is but yeah is there a way to do this

OK PPL update of sorts I scraped the whole make Crash Mans stage like star man cause I found a way better way to get it done. Now onto my new dilema I pretty much Finished Flash Mans stage but theres one crucial problem I have to Address I want spikes in the stage I got the visuals down and the stage all built but right now the effect of spikes is the effect of a regular block. Now keep this in mind Im keeping the Ice effect, obviuosly the backround effect and there is also a ladder effect that was already there to begin with that worked nicely but I need to change the effect for the pikes so you actually die instead of just walk around on them. Now sadly VISNE doesnt offer support to change this on MM2 like you can do on MM1 with it so I started hunting other editors and came across the Rockman 2 editor but thats in japanese and it doesnt come up japansese on my computer it comes up gibberish but i did make enough sense of it to break down what each effect is named and all I think theres also a way to change around the effects of what things do I.E. water to ice but it doesnt seem to work IDK so now I opened up other hacks with this editor to see if maybe I could get a better grasp through someone elses work to help me with my own and I found that MEGAMAN ULTRA from Infidelity had in Flashmans stage the effect of a ladder changed to death so How did he do it what editor did you use and if not what needs to be chaged in a hex editor to get mine to replace the effect of a regular block you can stand walk on to one that will kill you and PS i only wanna change this effect for this level not the whole game if anybody especially infidelity could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it Ive been working on this hack of mine for 4 years and I recently got remotivated to do it Im almost done now finally and I really wanna put it out there but my ASM skills are shity to say the least I can find pallettes and change them but most of what Ive acomplished so far as been with the help of editors PS testers are welcome to shoot me a message here and Ill shoot you a patch of what i got so far

i guess with my participation in MM8BDM,i lost track of time with the hack...


My hack is more then just one level I got all of wily done heat bubble and crash as well Im just trying to make flash man be done so I can continue I would like to release this thing already and definately this year cause I wanna work on new stuff like a sequal with MM3

since the subject is on changing TSA properties can someone tell me where to change solid bricks in Flashmans stage from MM2 to death cause I wanna use spikes in the stage Ive seen it done before but the chage change the TSA ladder property which was unused in the original I intend to keep that and the Ice SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IM SO CLOSE TO FINALLY FINISHING THIS GAME

So if you can make any sense outta this please share the wealth it will make for a happy huff

ok I figured this out atleast what exactly Im trying to do I want to change the attribute of the TSA in flashmans stage but what I mean by that is I want to change what the attribute is defined as example in Flashman the 4 attributes are Backround Ladder Solid and Ice I want to change the solid to death keeping the attibutes of Backround Ladder and Ice unchanged I dont know what to do from here on if anyone understands it please drop a line I dont see in any editor how this can be done but if there is an editor out there that could change the attibute of a defined TSA set what is it cause ill try it

Side notes in bubble mans stage on the 4th drop hold left or die I really dont know why you die instantly if you dont but you do hold left ppl and continue on also in the begining of the 4th Wily stage while testing the patch a random crab appeared and just did his float down thing whatever he does no harm so he can stay

Pretty much everything Wily is done except the Bosses AI and vunerabilities Im learning ASM slooooooowly and will address this when I get better at it

ROBOT MASTERS

Again minus the boss AI and vunerabilties most are done heres my progress so far

Bubble Man: 100% this stage rocks

Heat Man: 100% Save Sates are your friend Here

Metal Man: Pallettes and boss room layout done. I have ideas for what I wanna do with this stage just gotta get to it first

Air Man: Pallettes basicly done theres a few tweeaks on that I gotta do but really I havnt touched this stage yet

Flash Man: 99% the only thing I need to change is the value of the spikes from solid to death read the top this has plagued me for about 2 months now grrr happy credits to those who help me outta this jam

Quick Man: Pallettes are semi finished but again I havnt really touched this one yet

Wood Man: Pallettes are semi finished but again I havnt really touched this one yet

Crash Man: 100% this stage is done minus some sprite pallette fixes again save states are friends here

so ppl play this give me feed back suggestions or whatever floats your boat Ive been working on this hack since 05 off and on and I wanna bang it out finally so any help at this point is well appreciated

yeah Trax its not really done yet and the whole concept of heat man was to take transparent blocks and force you to be presice but if it pissed you off then Im doing my Job Ive been playing MM2 since it came out and was inspired by some really good hard hacks of it to make mine a little different and insanly HARD



Now on To Infidelity FINNALY if you play Flash mans stage you will notice spikes that dont kill you thats because the value of them is actually solid but i dont want it to be solid the TSA order is Bacround Solid Ladder Icer I would like to replace that solid with death now I played Ultra (love it btw) and you version of flash man is a little different you kept the Ice the solid and obviuosly the backround but you somehow manged to change the Ladder property to that of Death I put Ultra in the rock5 easily editor and noticed the property was still labled the same so I assume you found either a pointer of something in the hex to change the ladder from that which you could climb into that which would end you HOW DID YOU DO THIS

I intend to change things with Airman this hack isnt finished I put out a demo cause im stuck on Flashmans stage and am seeking some help with undersanding the ASM of it and ultimately making a whicked hard stage speaking of

Infidelity
I desected Ultra a little bit and it looks like you switched Ladder to Ice and Ice to death the way its goin on in my head theres the easy way to do this for my stage switch solid to Death which I bet money is A hard coded and B will effect wily stage 6 somehow since they share data my problem is Im just not has good as Id like to be at ASM or beleive me this and the rest of this game would be done btw if you figure it out please detail it cause that would help not only me but alot of other hackers out there trying to figure out to do this crazy thing Ive noticed over the past 2 or 3 years how the popularity of hacking has exploded

PS I like you mike have been playing MM2 since the late 80s (i was 8) and your right the original game is so easy now and Megaman 9 was extremely hard at first not so much now though

How do i change the blocks behavior?(TSA?)

Hey I saw Insectdual gave you an answer on this now I have a question for you did you find the offsets for Flashman and all the stages I guess but specifically Flashman cause Ive been asking that question for awhile Im new to HEX editing it seems im only really good at Stage editing and Ive been working on my hack for 5 years and I hit a wall with this whole Flashman delema any help would be greatly appreciated PS do you have any infor on controlling the lasers in Quickmans level also thanx Huff

An update of sorts Ive been busy with my son and work and havnt really had time to dive into this until recently I went on a blitz and did Airmans stage Ill try to make a vid soon and post on youtube just look up Huff81780 it will be there soon anyway onto the description of Airman I liked the uniqeness of not being able to see megaman when hes behind the clouds so I based the stage on that fact and in something ive never seen in any hack ive played of this game added the guys that throw the fry guys at you in quickmans stage to illuminate the path anyway i think this adds to an already hard game i saw how some ppl have critisized me for making this game the way I have ....to bad if you dodnt enjoy it I do the ppl ive seen play it do and Im not doing this for you Im doing this for myself Ill try and post another demo soon

This is flash Mans stage (sorry I left the save states in) Has you will be able to see spikes dont kill you thats because their TSA value is set to solid Im attempting figure out how to change that to death If anyone knows where in the ROM RAM or NES file using a hex editor I can do this PLEASE TELL ME

@HUFF Don't you EVER upload a single 1KB IPS Patch to MegaUpload. MegaUpload is not one of my favorites. Upload it here at Board 2 or MediaFire. As I said in my previous posts.

RAM $32 and $33 reads TSA Solidity data for each level.

For Flashman's level.

$00 - Nothing
$01 - Solid
$07 - Ice

Iget all that I just dont know where thee offset is using a hex editor Im using FCEUX to debug everything but its hard for me to comprehend it all if I know where RAM 32 and 33 where offset wise this stage would be done the ram for 01 is reading solid so A where is it reading it from B how do i find that and C how to I change it so it reads death instead of solid

HUFF, i have to say your hack is insane(in the good way)
level design is genius!, especially air man's stage, the level is unique and awesome. your lvl design is better than mine(not just because my hack has custom graphics needs to be better and i'm not saying my hack is 'better' than others)

I actually finished heat and wood but i'm losing the interest in mega man hacking D:, i'm stuck in wily 1 and i have no idea what to do there.




Thanx man If it helps with hackers block this is what I do I imagine how many ways I can kill the guy playing the game Im designing and has for wily I would say just think outside the box but keep in mind by the time the player gets to wily he?she already has all the weapons and power up items you can imass so make um use um but I will say this if there was a way to turn the air blower guys around and have them blow you right I could think of a wicked way or 2 on how to expand on that little rid the wind part i put in air mans stage glad you enjoy the game to Its a 5 year oddesy and as of late things have only gotten more and more creative Im hoping to finish the game this year and move on to mm3 or 4 which seem eaier to hack

back at it again with ME. Redid airman cause I lost the original when my hardrive took a shit in 2011. I am onto wood man and my question is where do i gotta look to control the XY placements for the blue dogs that apear in his stage. I will upload a new demo with airman soon aswell

Uploaded an update to MM2 ME this update includes a complete Air Man stage now which, some palette updates as well cause I wasnt digging some of the color schemes.
Some bugs that exist there are flashes in wily 2 when you bigin and at the check point if you die. IDK whats up with that probably something to do with Airmans stage Ill address it later. A random crab appears at the begining of wily 4. Touching Bubble and Metal man doesnt hurt you. I am currently onto woodman eventually Ill put some screen shots up but for the time being the new patch as been uploaded enjoy!
