Hi, people. I am imamelia, and I am, obviously, a new user here. I recognize a few of the users already here (among others, S.N.N., smkdan, Iceguy, and andy_k_250 from SMW Central; Teyla, Anya, and Aquamancia from Jul; and FuSoYa from...the universe), and I suspect some of them may recognize me. I'm a member of a couple other forums, but I hang out and post at SMW Central more often than anywhere else. I'll probably be most active in the ROM hacking forums and possibly a couple others, a bit in the story and role-playing ones, Gaming, Programming, whatever. I hope to enjoy my stay here, make a couple friends, help out when possible, talk about stuff, maybe learn some new things...the usual. Heh, I didn't even know this place, in any form, still existed. (Insert generic Bionic Man quote here.) I don't know how this place compares to my other forums...obviously. I'm new. (Yes, I read the FAQ before registering; I'm not stupid.) But I hope to get along with, and remain on good terms with, as many people as possible. (I sincerely hope you don't give out bans for pessimism, eternal whining about how one's SMW-related ASM doesn't work, or too many bad puns, though.)

Oh, yeah, do any of the staff members bite? I want to get my rabies shots ahead of time if necessary.

Is there any good documentation on the SNES enhancement chips (DSP-1, SuperFX, SA-1, CX4, etc.)? I have searched and searched, but I have turned up next to no information about them. Although I may not be advanced enough to actually use them, I would nevertheless like to learn about a couple of them, just out of curiosity. Who knows, maybe I could actually utilize one or two of them eventually. I'm probably most interested in SA-1. The SNES Development Manual, I guess, says that the SA-1 uses some RAM from $3000-$37FF and $6000-$7FFF...or do I have that all wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked on Google, around Zophar's Domain, just about everything I can think of that might turn up a document or something about them.

Well, after entering Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, I'd kind of like to do more with Mega Man games. Unfortunately, I could never get any of the editors I found to work. What do people use for editing Mega Man games these days? (And please don't say "text files and patching software"...)

Sorry, but I have even worse news for you: They directly hex-edit the games. As in, they open the game with a hex editor and then change hexadecimal numbers around.

Barf. Why would they even need to use a hex editor when they could use a patch? Changes would be easier to keep track of that way...

Sheesh. And I thought my hacking community was resistant to change.
