Wow, I totally forgot. It's because there was no school to remind me. *Pinches everyone.

To quaker3332: There's only one Yoshi in the entire game and he's in the first level (aka Yoshi's Island 1 in the original). To find him, you have to jump off a Parakoopa and into a pipe hanging from the sky with the bottom over a bottomless pit. Use a cape to make it easier on yourself. Yoshi is hiding there but grab him as you run by him because there's a medium (I think) scrolling on that section of the level.

I just saw this but are there five switch palaces on those maps? I saw the standard red/green/blue/yellow ones but then on the Special World there's what looks to be a brown one. What's up with that?

...And became eligible for the VA State Science Fair. My team won a 1st Place award this afternoon at the ceremony. (Grrr, I wanted the cash prizes from the independent companies!) Who knew that trebuchets were such winning material? There's no practical application anymore today because there are no palisade walls to throw disease-ridden carcasses over the top of to spread disease to the besieged castle town.

Oh well, I guess I should be excited. This is pretty big stuff. There's going to be only two teams from my school going I believe, myself and a chemistry project. After states is the International level down in Albaquerque, New Mexico but I highly doubt I will get to there. Then again, I highly doubted that I would get to states.

By the way, regionals were really boring and my friend and I passed the time playing a game where you take turns drawing anything you want as long as you draw it without lifting your pencil. When you do, the other person gets to draw. Then you repeat. We had some weird stuff on the paper we drew on. Maybe I'll scan it in and show you all...

I have no listed allergies, but I think I have mild ones to cats and pollen. The cats one has been visible for some time but the pollen one seemed to just...happen over the years. I know for a fact that I wasn't allergic to pollen when I was younger.

Well, I'm not surprised that you won though. Trebuchets tend to look impressing, especially if it's a working copy. How big is it though? <<

The trebuchet is five feet tall, has an arm of 70 inches and a counterweight on the end of about 16 kilograms.

Nice job. They really can be complex things to make well.

Science doesn't have to be mixing loads of fluids to make something shine, guys.

It doesn't, but it sure seems that way for grand prize judging. One guys had some title so complex I swear the smallest word was "lattice." Good god there were complex projects.

I was thinking the same about the room. Also, those are some sweet goodies. $420 well spent I'd say.

491. When you spill hot cocoa on your hand while holding the mug and there's no place to put it down, so you have to wait like ten seconds with burning chocolate on your hand before you can do anything about it.

Why use Mario tiles for Metroid themed pictures?

Probably because that's what this thread is all about.

That, and it's quite easy to put together the picture in Lunar Magic.

Wow, that's quite a mess. You really need to get shelves and stuff soon.

I feel like I'm looking at an I Spy picture. "Find the Mountain Dew, hairbrush, etc."

I just got a pack of gummy worms. Yum. I love eating all sorts of gummy candies. I think they're the best type, right after chocolate.
What's your favorite candy?

It was delicious.
Oh good god, that looks great.

Too bad it doesn't work with most other stuff.

That is made of awesomeness, and gummy.

That looks amazingly good. I wish I had one! Someone should manufacture those and sell them.

In my opinion, the trees in the background would look nicer if you use a black outline instead of a white one.

I have to agree on that one. The white outline isn't terrible, but a black one is just more natural looking.

Oddly enough, I never liked the gummy stuff very much.

BLASPHEMY!!!

Sour stuff is pretty good but if you eat lots of it, your tongue can get ripped up from the sour crystals and then that's a pain.

Another one for me was Metroid. I had heard the name but that was it, I had no idea it was so popular.

Same for me. I'd only heard of Samus through Super Smash Bros and one issue of Nintendo Power where there were three questions about Super Metroid answered. Mostly, I had no clue about it because of "The Metroid Drought" (i.e. no new games) between 1994 and 2002.

The helmets for Wario would work I'd think. The Jet could be the Up B attack, the Dragon the Down B attack and the Bull the Move B attack. Standard B could just be a normal dash.

Those are some pretty awesome character sketches. My only thought is, are you confident in being able to fit the detail into the sprites so they look most like the sketches? You could go with 16 color sprites for more details but I'm just looking at the height/width of the sprites when I mean the detail. Do you think you'll have enough room?
