WIP Map for Gaia Heights (Crateria). Not all of the blue rooms are completed, I only have the map layout for those rooms done. There are also rooms that aren't shown on the map. ____________________ |

Posted by FirePhoenix0 Seeing as it got skipped over in favor of discussion of Rockman's hack, I'm reposting this to hopefully get a comment or two. ____________________ |

Make sure you have the most recent version. (Newest version is v1.32)
Are you even able to open a rom? You should get a window on startup for the first time asking you to choose your clean rom. If you don't, I'm really not sure why SMILE would give you an error like that. ____________________ |

Yeah, there are going to be plenty of areas that don't show up when you download a map from a map station. In fact, there are at least 5 areas just on that screenshot right now that aren't visible until you find them.
Thanks for the comments. ____________________ |

I'm sorry guys I haven't worked on this at all in the past months. I've been focusing on my Super Metroid hack whenever I'm in a hacking mood. I guess I should just put the work I have up for you guys to take and use. I don't think I'll be doing much else here.
I'll still support you guys though. If we can actually pull together and make this thing it'll be great. ____________________ |

You're forgetting that since your rival always takes the one that has the advantage over yours, that Electric and Ground aren't equal. If you choose the Electric pokemon, your rival will have the Ground one and any electric attacks will be nullified making the triplet unequal. Unless we're not thinking in terms of disadvantages to your pokemon and only thinking in terms of supereffective triplets... ____________________ |

Looks like I'm needed here.
Well, I tried changing Yoshi's standard palette to Pallete E using Tweaker. That way I could use one of the lesser used palettes to have multiple Yoshi colors and not interfere with other sprite palettes. However, it seems that doing so makes Yoshi act a little strange in some cases, so I returned him to his normal palette (A) and instead opened up his graphics in YY-CHR and recolored him to use the empty black palettes on the right half of the sprite palettes instead. Whenever I needed a set of Yoshi colors, all I had to do was change the black palettes to whatever colors I needed, I never had to interfere with the standard sprite palettes and no coding/hex changes were ever needed. Of course, Yoshi's abilities are all the same as Green Yoshi's abilities, seeing as all the recolored Yoshis are are recolored Green Yoshis. As a bonus, this also allows you to change the color of Yoshi's shoes! ____________________ |

I actually ran some tests with changing Yoshi's palette with Tweaker and seeing what happens to his abilities a while back, with some interesting results. Take a look:

Posted by Grey Mario I don't know if there's necessarily a table, but what I posted would seem to be the same thing. ____________________ |

I've got a couple more screens since then and made lots more progress: And the last screen: What could this be? So I'm working on this really enthusiastically when I get the time. As of now, I've return to Gaia Heights (Crateria) to do some more of the rooms in there. Once I get a new tileset, I can begin work on the Norfair-like area, and once I hear back from another person modifying an existing tileset of theirs as per my request, I'll be able to tackle another area in the western half of Cyclonia. I've set up some progress meters at the bottom of my post so you can keep track of my progress as I work. Lastly, there's a slightly outdated beta from a couple weeks ago if you're interested. It's for a headered Super Metroid (JU) [!] rom, meaning 3073 KB. You can click this link to download it: http://forum.metroid2002.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7573.0;attach=5709 Not much else to say. I'll update this thread as I make progress. You'll get new screens every once in a while as well. Hope I've gotten a couple of you interested in my project and thank you. If you're looking for a grassland replacement that uses the original Map16 tiles, I have one for you that I custom made. Replaces GFX15.bin
In action: Can be for caves too with a little imagination and paletting work. Download: http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=showexgfx&id=653 ____________________ |

You had to get in one last jab at my rocks, didn't you?
For those wondering, GK doesn't like the shading on the rocks in the ground in Cyclonia. At this point I could care because we've had the argument about three times now in IRC and out of it. The rocks stay. Thanks for the rest of the comments everyone! ____________________ |

Posted by NightKev After about the 1000th time we've banned Mega-Mario, spicing up the subsequent bans was the way to go. We have to entertain ourselves somehow! RomManic just happened to get himself an honorary seat on the doomclock as well. ____________________ |
