Well, next time bring your hack on a flash drive
I'm sure that will help you and motivate you a lot
But should I comment on your hacking skills, I'd give you a high-five
It looks as good as AGATE. Hey, I'll test it out if I buy you some AGATE?

Uh oh, Binary's here because of all the action...

Man, I must be dreaming...

Welcome to Board 2. I'm sure what you'll do is great.

Like I've said elsewhere, your SMB3 hack looks awesome, Mineyl! Best of luck with your continued progress!

So since I mentioned that I would try to work a little bit on Luigi's Chronicles 2, I took advantage of some free time today to edit some more graphics. Since Quick Bros. 2 hasn't been worked on for most of 2009, though I did have some graphics done for it, I decided to incorporate a few graphical ideas from Quick Bros. 2 into Luigi's Chronicles 2. I'll probably show some more a little later since there is still some stuff in progress, but for now I'd like to ask for an opinion on which of the following palettes looks better. Does anyone remember 6-9 and my previous post about the different palettes? Well I was testing out some palettes over the last hour and I sort of like these two for this level specifically. So what does everyone think? The first one? The second one? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Now that I'm previewing my post, I can see that KP's posted his own before I finished mine! I enjoyed that video, KP, and the ending was awesome!

EDIT: I forgot to add; the IPS patch for Luigi's Chronicles 2 increased from 60 KB to 62 KB with the few additions that I did today. The bigger the IPS patch size, the more excited I get.
Lookin' snazzy!
Huh? I don't see the IPS Patch.

Did you edit those palettes based on the post I made in the first page of this thread?

You're actually reminding me of that old news in the old screenshot thread. I used Mario Improvement 3 some weeks ago, and I deleted it.

I thought Googie would do the graphics, but...

I didn't see anything wrong with the original palette for 6-9 either, I guess the 1st one is good. Save your ROM Hacking stuff to a flash drive and take it where you might need it.

KP900, how did you get the "number of players" selection to be different like that?

All this stuff is motivating me even more. I completed 3 levels today, wrapping up Area 3.

EDIT: Trelior, I can fix up Luigi's Palettes in your hack and possibly add his sprites. I'll PM you my E-Mail so you can send the hack to me.

SMB3 TSA does not work, it doesn't open the ROM. I guess that's all the tools for SMB3 to use, although the Hex Editing would be a heap of too much work.

I have a very simple question, but I hope you guys can help me. Is there a way to change which part of the palette is used by a specific object? For example: giving smashable bricks the green palette of pipes and background bushes without changing everything with the brown palettes to green.

EDIT: Oh, just thought of a couple more: are the number of pointers on each world map fixed or could I, say, take some from another world without any complicated means? Also, when the hammer brothers move around on the map, do they only stop on empty spaces that have pointer data on them? I'm trying to find some workarounds so I won't feel so constrained when making world maps, but...yeah.
I'm not so sure.

Regarding the map pointers, that may require expansion or ASM, but normally you can not. Yeah, they're fixed. And the Hammer Brothers stop on empty spaces with pointers on them, Haven't you seen them in the SMB3 Map Editor?

Thank you.

The Hammer Bros. stop on every empty space, anything under them or not. If there isn't anything under them, then nothing will load.

I just downloaded Mario Improvement 3 again, and if I'm motivated to, then I may make a level in SMB3-SMAS.

All the action looks great! Your music, KP9000, sounds like JaSp's instrument change. Nice work! This is the only music thing I could do...

But here is my Flashing 3!

And another preview!

EDIT: I heard that somebody wanted to be reminded to hack SMB3...

When somebody is posting, they could click "Quote" and the text would instantly appear in their reply box. They could click another quote and so forth.

It shouldn't be difficult.

Now I did 7-1, and there is a huge open space when I play the level. When it's open in SMB3 Workshop, it doesn't show me anything. Also, I can't seem to find SMB3 Workshop's screenshot button. I'll try to work on another level.

That's because there isn't one... Use the print screen button and MS Paint.

It doesn't work... but here

uhh, I think I know what you're saying. You mean putting the "Quote" link that's on every post onto the little posts below the box you type into when you're making a new post, right?

If that's what you mean, I wholeheartedly agree. That would be very useful.

I think so, there's a little "Quote" link under every post. If the user is posting a reply, then clicking the quote link would insert the reply ID and all of that.

Grey Mario beat me to it...

Right now, if you click on the quote link while posting a reply, you'll lose all the stuff you typed up. What I'm thinking about is the text from the quote instantly fall onto your reply. The person would click the quote link while replying, and the stuff would be under what they've already written.

It looks like SMB3 hacking is coming back into action. I think I had a long enough break from it. I'll probably start hacking again next week. I'll be thinking of innovative ASM and level ideas on graph paper.
Been said month ago...
Well I could share some ideas with you.

Here is 5-1. I'm skipping World 4 because of this:

Oh hot ham... that's awesome. Your graphics and everybody's graphics are much better that what I can do. The hills, clouds, blocks, colored platforms... all look so awesome. Those colored platforms look 350% better than the original!

Heh, remind me to hack SMB3 one of those days. That game really needs more love amongst ROM hackers.

Hm. No wonder you type so much HTML and stuff without getting your post edited.

I'll take your advice, it sounds good.

If you're not willing to take the extra two minutes it takes to do this, why does staff need to invest their own time into implementing this when they're probably busy with other important tasks?
Yeah... I guess so. I think I need to stop making all these weird threads asking about this stuff.

(I just quoted that the way you told me. )

As for your screenshot, I have no idea what the heck is going on there. Maybe you didn't place your objects at the top to make sure that they appeared? Again, I'm not sure what to say about that except that you should try again... Be sure to clear everything out to build your level from scratch, placing your objects at the top of the level and then dragging them down to where you want them to be.
That's what I have to go through. When I add/clone and objects, it appears at the top of the level, and before I found this out, I was saving crash objects. I then figured it out and had to drag all those objects down to where I needed them. I was making good progress until the I posted that screenshot. I loaded the shot in Paint and erased everything on the left side so that nobody could see my level. (Silly me. ) I might have accidentally add a "Gray Platform" and can't seem to find it.

When you save your enemies and test your level but they don't show up, you have to fix it using the FCEUXD hex editor. In Pipe levels, the enemies have to be ordered going left-to-right, and then up-to-down. SMB3 Workshop seems to like mixing them up for some reason though even if you've placed them in the editor correctly, so be sure to write down the hex information that you see in the bottom-right corner for enemies so that you can easily insert that data in the hex editor.
I'm afraid only a professional like you could do that.

If you hate it, go buy some HATS
It'll cool you off, I'm sure it won't cost much.
But after the rain, you'll encounter swarms of flies and gnats
Maybe if you stay inside, you won't encounter such.
