I found a NES version of the FDS game, Doki Doki Panic. There are a few things that dont work though. One, theres some missing sounds due to it not having access to the FDS sound chip and if you try to save, itll freeze while asking you to flip to Side A. If anyone can fix the save bug and make some sounds that sound exactly like the FDS sounds but using the NES sound chip, Id be very happy. Please, only people who are seriously wanting to fix these bugs should reply to this. The game is not 100% perfect as it is now. Once these two bugs are fixed, then the game can be given out to everyone. IM me if you want to give this a shot.

I didnt find the ROM here. I dont remember where I got it from but it defiantly wasnt from here. I was told by someone from another site that this site may be able to help finish the ROM if I post about it here. Thats all I have done. If its a WIP ROM from here or you know the person who did the work, then Im sorry about it and I dont mean any harm to anyone. All I really want is to see the game completed so we can have a NES version of this game that can be put on a cartridge and played on a real NES. As for the other post, no Mama doesnt look like Luigi. The game looks 100% like the FDS version, including the changing Side B messages and the wait messages.

The story after the title screen shows is nothing but random changing graphics.

Thanks for telling me that my emulator was out of date. LOL! Anyways, I found that in this cave located near the lower left hand corner of the light map, theres a fairy that will give a glitched heart cycle when healing and leave behind two fires, which can hurt you. The cave is located in 13,2 if you consider the upper left corner of the map to be 1,1. Also, there are times that those types of caves stop playing music while traveling in them.

EDIT: I also found that if your magic is empty and you enter a dungeon, you can fool the magic into going negative, giving you unlimited magic. Also, if your holding the B button to use your magic and then hold down A to raise your swords power, if you let go of B while still holding A, the room will not go dark or will remain the level of darkness it is until you either let go of A, hit an enemy, or leave the room. You can do this an unlimited amount of times, giving you almost unlimited magic.

EDIT 2: The shovel doesnt work right and doesnt do anything other then once in a while giving a "digged up" look. The holes and anything that can cause Link to fall also act like a vacuum, sucking him in. A good example would be in the first dungeon, on the way to the feather. Theres a room that has narrow pathways with a bottomless pit below it. I fell many times there due to a "vacuum". Also, as it appears that the dungeons seem to be mostly unchanged, from what Ive seen so far, I cant access the old man in the first dungeon as the room before it is different and has no moveable block. Are the dungeons suppose to be almost unchanged or do they just start out this way?

EDIT 3: In 3,10 on the light map, theres a staircase. If you enter it, youll be in the wall in the cave. If you head down, youll end up in a room where a glitch happens. Exit and youll be at a fairy outside. Now, if you head left or right instead of down while in the wall, youll end up not in the wall anymore, but once you exit the cave, the graphics will be glitched until you leave the screen.

EDIT 4: In 8,11 on the light map, if you push the rock up, youll glitch into a cave with just a enemy and a room where you can walk into a huge black area which looks like a giant pit but isnt. Pushing the rock down will show an entrance, but it will lead to the same cave as before.

EDIT 5: In 5,10 on the light map, if you head right on the upper path but walking on the lower part of that path, youll end up stuck in the trees and can only head back left to free yourself.

In Level 5, from the beginning, if you head right and up, the Old Man there will be messed up. Also, Link will have the words "magic" showing on his sprite when walking left and right.

EDIT: Level 6 is almost impossible due to the lantern. The lantern was a nasty problem in the other levels, but with those evil wizards always shooting at you and stuff, its almost impossible to work with them and the lantern. I highly suggest removing the lantern or making it for one level only or limited use like maybe a few rooms here and there.

Thanks for the info Insectduel! :-)

Well i've decided to keep the glitch intact. I was able to achieve getting to -1, and saved from there. It turns out, that 23 gets loaded into $75F ram (World ID). So when it comes time for a user, to reload his/her save file from World -1, I do a hard coded check for 23 within the specific sram register for that save file. If it's 23, I then perform tile writes, to make the World number look blank.

Again, this is only for when the register fills in with 23. So idk if any other value gets stored within there. All I've had seen, is World 2-1 loop over and over once you enter the pipe at the end. So I believe I have resolved the tile glitch, and i'll upload a video of my proof.

Minus World in My All-Stars Project
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb0ifbs5VJo&feature=youtu.be

What I also found cool, is when you return to the title screen once you've gotten a game over, you can obviously start back to World 1-1. BUT, when you get a game over from the Minus World, and you are at the title screen, if you hold A & press and hold Start, you will start back at the Minus World, just like if you got a game over in say, 3-2, and held A and pressed start to start back at 3-1. :-)

OK another update.

So again with Super Mario Bros, that game is all set with the Minus World, and no more issues are present.

I went to check out Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan, to make sure the same loop issue with 8-4 didn't take place, and it doesn't from what I've seen.

I was asked if I could add the STAR icon to file menus, when you have defeated whichever game you are playing. I'm deciding to go down that road. Super Mario Bros. & Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan, will be a piece of cake, since those 2 roms have dedicated registers for when you do defeat the game.

Super Mario Bros. 2 USA & Super Mario Bros. 3, this is going to be an issue. I don't know if those two games have dedicated registers for when you defeat the game. I know that when you beat Mario 3, you get a full inventory of P wings. I don't know what triggers that, but if I know the routine that fills your inventory with P-wings, I can slip in a sub routine to set a register within that games sram file, to signify that file has a defeated game.

I'm not sure i'll add a save menu to the world map of Mario 3. I know the original All-Stars does it, but I have everything based off of when you are in a level, and some of those registers are used differently when you are on the world map. I know this may be a slight inconvenience for players who want to save in a pinch, but I really have no desire to go further with the sram than it already is.

So, if anyone knows about the P-wing full inventory in Mario 3, and what my best bet should be with Mario 2 USA on when to signify you defeated the game, that would all help greatly. :-)

Once I get those all ironed out, i'll release what should be the absolute final version. Thanks again everyone! :-D

Maybe for Mario 2, you can have it that if you enter the door after defeating Wart, it counts as a complete, thus a star is added. Also, may I suggest that on the All-Stars title screen, that the Mario 1 Cheep Cheep (fish) be made floating instead of dragging her belly on the ground?

If you save the game in world 1-1 in Mario 2 and then quit, the next time you play, once you beat 1-1, the world will repeat 1-1 again. I didnt try this with other worlds. Also, Im not sure if you noticed the message I said in a previous message about the Mario 1 Cheep Cheep on the All Stars title screen.

I noticed that the repeating world bug in Mario 2 still exists in the most recent version (4-12-15 version). It also effects the extra lives you have as well, resetting it to the what the save has to.

In Mario 2J, if your on any world past 1-1 and reset, not turn off and on the power, or if you pause and reset, not turn off and on the power, Mario will not have his head and when you play, he will glitch completely, sometimes going invisible or showing letters when big.

I have found no bugs to report so far, but I will play through each game, just to make sure. I do have a few suggestions that would make this more like the SNES version, but are not required to make this perfect.

1: You should try adding the Battle Mode thats in SNES All Stars Mario 3.
2: Have you tried seeing if you can make it so you can go back to past worlds on the game select screen?

Last, on Mario 2J, have you made sure that if you used a warp pipe and save, that you can not go to World 9? On the original FDS game, using a warp pipe will cause you to not be able to go past 8-4, according to GameFAQs. Also, have you also did the same check for Worlds A-D?

Super Pitfall is being improved by nesrocks over at romhacking.net. He has done a lot of improvements and work, including better graphics and sprites, bug fixes, a second quest, and a new HUD. All that is needed to make this improved version to be perfect is better music, which nesrocks doesnt know how to do. I came on here in hopes that maybe I can help him find someone who is willing to donate his or her time to help him with this. Here is a link to the topic on romhacking.net.

http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,21768.0.html

Also, here are a few pics of what he has done so far.

Im with Infidelity 100%. He made this awesome game with his own blood, sweat, and tears. It was a lot of hard work and he deserves to have his name where it belongs. On the title screen. To rob him of that credit by removing his name from its rightful place is a slap in the face to what he did and a dishonor of the work he has done. Shame on you Stgiga!

I have since realized that that was a bad idea. Bite me for that, ok? I also was not in my sane mind yesterday, and I screwed up. I have never uploaded the CHR modded version with Nintendo presents to any public site, nor do I currently or ever want to do after waking up to today's rightfully deserved ire. I know I just got my butt kicked, and that I was really stupid about that, but it was a long shot that I knew would not work very well. Yes, I know the last reason in my last post was shoddy, and that I should not have done that. I only made the CHR edit for private cart use, and that my whole idea is, in hindsight stupid. The only reason I mentioned it has to do with the fact that I currently cannot ASM hack on infidelity's godly scale, but can do CHR edits straight outta multicarts and intro groups. As such, since it was the only thing I had on my plate, I stupidly mentioned it, and here I am, reserved for a special place in hell next to Satan. I had rashly and stupidly tried to fix a mistake that had been stealthily fixed when I Fubared again and delayed the idea, which by all means deserved death. I, to use the pun, am currently a false infidel to the holy religion of infidelity. Someone just get me a bucket so I can barf at my day-old self, OK. I will then dump the barf on my old self, and laugh profusely despite the impossibility of time travel.

F*** ME1111111111
11111111111111111
Metal gear reference above

PS: Deepest apologies to infidelity for what happened. If I had a job and did non-paid work, I would want credit too. A further apology goes to the father (da gper)?? who wanted a cart. Due to ethical pressure from infidelity and my sane side, I can't give you the patch, nor can I say anything about the edit, except that all but the first N are from the DMG boot rom, and that the numbers are from the original, but modded to be Mario 3 ones. I cannot show a picture of YYCHR, and, while you may ask, I do not want to give out the exact gfx address or pattern, for fear of punishment, nor can I hint at it without retribution. The only thing I can say is that it renders correctly on default YYCHR settings, and is one of the only CHR areas to do so. I know it starts with 1, and fills all digits. Sorry to disappoint, and sorry about indirectly getting you flamed for a reasonable request.

I never asked you for any patches or a cart. I wouldnt want to downgrade Infidelity's good work.

I was just listening to the ending to Super Mario Bros 2J on Youtube when I noticed something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W-cW20snPg

I wondered to myself if that sounds like it uses the FDS sound channel, which we all know, the NES cant do without using the FDS itself. Does Super Mario Bros 2J use FDS sound for its ending and if it does, what does this ROM do to make up for the sound loss?

I'll be honest, I've never played smb2j fully on the .fds version, so I can't say what's missing, if you can provide me comparison videos, I'll take a listen.
