04-05-05: Downloaded more SMW hacks, Adamant's old joke hack among them. When I finished it, it mentioned a place called "Acmlm's ROM hacking domain". Promptly googles.

Haha, you actually played through that thing after randomly finding it in a hack collection? I can't even remember reffering to Acmlm's in it, so that's certainly an interesting way to get here.

As for me, I had found the site prior to the birth of the board when googling for rom hacks (of Final Fantasy in particular, not knowing it was possible to hange anything other than graphics and text in a game), liked it, and somehow started checking it daily for updates, not knowing anywhere else I could find non-Penishead Mario hacks. Registered at the board the first day.

I think step 1 was split into two parts.

Step 1: The zip file / extracting the rom.

Step 2: The rom itself, discovering it was a fake.

Step 3: This page, where you had to enter the url for the next step.

Step 4: This page, where you had to email okibi, explaining the quote and the image. Just telling him what they are, pretty much.

Step 5: This image Decyphering this image, and answering the question, and explaining how there's "dummy" info in the image that was useless.

So how do we put these together?

Also "Zelda freak knows more than he tells" wasn't important to solving step 5, but I guess it actually IS important as a hint.

Hmm... did Zeldafreak obtain the zelda 3 proto (rom or cart)?

"Email Zeldafreak to get the URL to where the rom is located"? Could be it.

I'm planning on picking up Pearl, but I've heard ugly rumors about communications problems between different regions... I already have the european Ruby and Fire Red, will I be able to transfer pokemon from these to an american Pearl? And if I'm not, will I then be able to use an european Pearl to participate in those pokemon events in the US, and get those event-only pokemon? How about Ranger compatability? I've been meaning to pick up that, but will I be able to trade the Manaphy egg to a Pearl cart from another region?

Ah yeah, and as for the starter, definitly Chimchar.

The previously unreleased outside Japan PC Engine game Battle Lode Runner is now available on the VC, with more unreleased games (SMB2) on their way. Dare we hope for translations of unreleased games actually featuring japanese text in the future? Like, say, Fire Emblem games?

You can get Ho-oh and Lugia from Colosseum and XD, you know.

But hm, you ARE able to trade pokemon between american and european D/P games, right?

Correct. DStoDS and GBAtoGBA multiplayer is global, except for the e-Reader.

Thank you. Then I'll probably pick up the American Pearl, and then get the european version of whatever the third game in the series will be for transfer purposes once it's released down the line.

Dude, look, assholes are generally assholes towards people who don't retaliate. If you kick him in the nuts, he'll realise that "hey, if I'm an asshole towards this guy, my testicles aren't going to feel very well afterwards", and move on to other things. Which means you win.
It's not a matter of honor, since the asshole was the one who was an asshole in the first place. You're not kicking him in the nuts to impress anyone, you're kicking him in the nuts to tell him to fuck off, and if he does fuck off after you do it, which is rather likely... mission accomplised. Yay.

While not the best, OOT is still very fun. Also, I am atempting to obtain the Mask of truth, but I am having major problems finding the running guy in Hyrule feild. Could someone tell me a good place to find him? I mean, I know it's relitively random, but I wouldn't mind a tip.

It's not random at all, really - he follows a set route around Lon Lon Ranch, and starts appearing... after you get the Ocarina of Time, I believe. It's before you go to the future, at least, since some carts have a glitch where you can't get the deku nut upgrade that requires the mask of truth if you've already been to the future. It's a worthless upgrade, sure, but if you're a completist, it's annoying to miss it because of a glitch like this.

Eh, I never really saw why people got all fired up about that game. I mean, it's a good game, sure, but it's not great, and with all the other games the VC offers, it can easily be skipped.

Oh, and the Mega Drive "port" of Virtua Fighter 2 is awful. Stay away. It's nothing like a VF game at all.

The MD one. VC only has NES, SNES, N64, Genesis/Megadrive, and TurboGrafx16 games (at least so far, they might add more consoles in the future). By the "real" VF2 I assume you mean the arcade one?

I know the Mega Drive game is the one offered on the VC, I was just asking Anya if the game she played as a kid was the MD version or.. well, any of the other versions. The MD game is nothing like the original arcade game and it's ports, which would be what I referred to as the real VF2.

They haven't yet, but yeah, it's been announced. We non-japanese will soon be seeing Commodore 64 games as well.
