Posted by Oquendo Thanks again Oquendo. This site is great, as it has lots of info on the e-reader. I bought an e-reader off of ebay. I am going to look into adding printing e-reader cards from levels made in smaghetti just because that would be so damn cool if that could work |

Haha. Let's hope it can be done. I have a feeling with some perseverance it can be figured out.
BTW, the unused fireball enemy is actually pretty cool. This video shows why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB1WGQqWq7k |

Oh wow, that's so cool!!! Really excited to see how this is coming along! And being able to print cards would be awesome too -- I still have my e-Reader and a copy of SMA4! |

All of my ereader stuff has finally arrived and it all works. So that's a good start. This coming week I am going to start digging into Caitsith's info and tools and see about getting a smaghetti level loaded via ereader.
Thanks mellodillo! and I believe you've also contributed some good info at TCRF on SMA4? Thanks for that, that's made getting the unused stuff out and usable into smaghetti way easier. |

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give an update on printing out e-reader cards. It's technically doable. Caitsith laid all the groundwork and I could add it to Smaghetti. But.... I have yet to get a printed e-reader card to actually work. I've tried two different printers, different kinds of inks, 6 different types of paper, different DPIs, everything I can. I've never gotten a printed card to work. I even bought the same printer and paper as on the YouTube video that shows printing e-reader cards. I also bought a set of real e-reader cards and a jeweler's loupe so I can compare the printed cards to the real ones. Still no luck. So I don't want to add this to Smaghetti because I'm confident basically no one would actually succeed and it'd just be frustrating for everyone. Also, I am now working on fully decompiling SMA4 back to C. If I succeed and get a full C code base for SMA4, then that would be fricking amazing. We could do so many cool things. But even if I don't succeed, I will for sure learn more about SMA4's internals and thus be able to make Smaghetti a more accurate editor. So either way, it should be a win. The timeline on this is very long. I'm not expecting any actionable results for quite a while. |

To update this thread and the status of the editor, as per city41's post in the Smaghetti thread on Romhacking.net on February 24, 2024:Due to Smaghetti being archived, I feel it's reasonable to remove this Smaghetti thread from the "Points of Required Attention", after being up there for almost 3 years. So for anyone who reads this notification and is/was interested in Smaghetti in the past, be sure to check out the archive. Thank you. |
