Capcom Music Editor version 0.1 release:

http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=5140

This is an editor that was originally designed by ColdIced or "martin bedard" many years ago which was never released to the public.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBLnmUVExRZ0DGjoHxdG8jw

I very recently got in contact with this author, and was given permission to edit the source code for it, to try editing it a little bit, fixing it up, and hopefully finish some things, and ultimately release to the public.

This will be able to help fellow romhackers with composing songs for the NES megaman 3, 4, 5, and 6 with little hex needed.

It originally only supported NSF's, but i've added the ability for it to support the NES megaman ROMS in the past few days too. I plan to release this soon once i feel it's ready. I wanted to let people know of this, and it should be useful to people. I was able to make a song someone else made in Fami Tracker ...to the Megaman 3-6 sound format using this program alone!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
update 11-09-16:

Decided to finally release the 1st version. It's not 100% perfect or anything and i did not finish everything i wanted to do, but it should be enough for anyone to be able to compose their own songs with this editor.

That looks cool! Looks much easier than doing this in hex and manually doing it in ASM.

Edit 1:
Thanks! I was currently trying to put Revenge of Shinobi music from SEGA genesis to Mega Man 3. The only problem that I was having was the loop part but this might come in handy instead of doing this in ASM.

That's awesome! Will it be able to ever edit the first two Mega Man games, or is that a feature you are holding off until the future? Thanks for making ROM Hacking easier, and nice achivement with the Famitracker job. Could you also upload an MP3 file of the conversion so we can hear it, too? Thanks.

No, this is only intended for the games using this type of music engine. Megaman 1 and 2 have a totally different music engine compared to megaman 3 to 6.
I dont have any knowledge really with megaman 1 and 2 and not interested in those ones honestly.

Also i've not said much back on this. But im still trying to get it all fixed up, i dont know when i'll be finished and ready, but i will change the topic name of this post to say that's it's released instead of "coming soon".

I fixed the breaks/loops thing, so it can work with line 1000 and higher, but it doesnt support editing the 1000's digit just yet but im going to soon.

Also im going to try adding an ability for it to auto detect song's ROM address, so a person is not expected to know where they are located in the ROMs.

I have a idea though, how to change that. A independent hacker can if they wish so, change a MM3 ROM to the point to completely resemble MM2. Bonus points if they have even the knowledge to recreate enemies, weapons and bosses from MM2.

Tell me more. I am all ears, for the MM2 recreation using a MM3 rom.

Will it be possible for you to add CAPCOM 1990 mmc5 sound engine support as well?

Sorry, but no. - Im not accepting any requests right now...

Im still having a really difficult time trying to deal with the so called "pitch slide" command still...i have not yet got it fully working just yet. every single freaking time i try to port one song to another megaman game, there's always something messed up

and almost every single time it's because of pitch slides... cause there seems to be like 20 different types of ways the megaman games use it.

This looks great. When I was submitting megaman hacks to rhdn alot of the hacks didn't change the music. Thanks to this tool maybe more will have changed music.

Same thing happened to me. It is very difficult.
Hope you succeed

Okay im going to release this first version now. I wasnt able to quite finish everything i really wanted to do. But it should be good enough for now.

This supports both the ROMs and NSF's for megaman 3, 4, 5, 6 only. No other games are supported or will be. -- There are other NES games that use this specific music engine mentioned in the Capcom Music Format guide by Matrixz, but i didnt bother supporting those cause the only intrest here is megaman.

I cant say for sure if i ever will update this again. But i truly hope it will be useful to some people though as it has been for me so far.

Thank you very much! So far, so good! I was able to do something that I couldn't do by hand and asm by trying to add music from another game from scratch.

Well damn, Capcom Music Editor refuses to open my MegaMan 3 Improvement hack "Togetic".
It gives me an "Invalid variant type conversion" error.
It would be really REALLY bad if CME is not compatible with anything MM3 Improvement related.

My mistake, i totally forgot that I had moved the table of Song IDs for mm3 improvement backwards by 20 bytes to add all the extra sound effects from other megaman games,

So it does now, i also had to add in a few extra custom lines just for Megaman Odyssey as well, for the same reason above.
Anyway, mm3 and rock3 improvement will work with it now. (re-download from the first post)

I think you forgot to upload it or post the new link to the first page, because the problem is still there...

no i did, i deleted the upload id 5938 ...and uploaded id 5939 ..
the filename date is November 11, 8:58 AM.

http://s13.postimg.org/pi6cdexpj/mm3improv.png

Unless if your ROM screwed around with stuff in 7FFA0-8000F ....
The editor specifically checks byte 7FFAA and 8000E to "jump" to the music engine for mm3 improve

Then it reads 2C11E, to "jump" 2CA30 (xxA30) for mm3 improve (2CA50/xxA50 for megaman 3-6) to load how many song ID's there are

It's a bummer i had to check against so many individual bytes to get there. But i did as best as i could to auto-detect the this stuff in all the games .. i did not want to immediately just load in the the direct locations of every game's music engine location ...cause there's always that possibility that someone may have moved it in their own romhack to somewhere else. So i had to pick the best route i could to get to that spot.
