The reason why I'm releasing this hack as a demo because I want feedback if I should finish this. I haven't touched it since 2008 and I think it's about time I get off my ass and start working on some projects that are on ice. Instead of screenshots you're getting a preview of World 1 from my You Tube channel. The demo goes all the way to World 3 where the level scrolls upwards, that's where the demo stops. Remember this, it's harder than the original game so beware. Here's the patch, it's in 7zip format so get zip here. Enjoy the demo everyone... ____________________ My Linktree |

Ah, memories. I was actually just viewing some old videos on your YouTube channel a few days ago because I was thinking about some of your past, unfinished projects. I enjoyed the video of this demo and especially your annotations. They emphasize the old, carefree ROM hacking feelings from the 2000s for me.
I remember playing the original Adventure Island 3 years ago, and probably only once, so unfortunately, I don't really recall much about the original game to acknowledge/recognize how changed your new levels are here. However, I always enjoy and look forward to seeing new work from you, and as far as my personal opinion goes, you can really never go wrong, brother. I mainly grew up playing the first Hudson's Adventure Island game on my multi-carts, so that's actually the one of the first three that I'm personally most familiar with. However, my personal favourite in the series is actually Master Takahashi's Adventure Island IV/Takahashi Meijin no Bōken Jima IV. I also still have your ROM hacking folder that you shared with me all those years ago, and I remember that there were still a lot of projects then, including this one. With regards to finishing up old projects in general, which hack(s) are smaller in size and shorter in length for what actually still needs to be done with them? Personally, I would start there. I understand how it's definitely difficult to not want to hack every game that you see and enjoy with a passion, but how there's never enough time to do so, and how motivation can come and go just like that. While I've told myself in previous years that I would only ever focus on one project at a time, lately, I've become sidetracked at different points and have shifted my attention back and forth between things. If you're feeling passion for this game again, I definitely encourage you to go for it and make some more progress with it, and perhaps even complete it, if it won't require too much thorough involvement still, as you previously stated in your video's comments that it's intended to mainly be a level hack. However, again, depending on if you have some even smaller unfinished projects in your collection of ROM hacking projects from over all these years, perhaps knocking off one or two projects that don't require too many changes could potentially be a start, and you could have one large main releases thread for all of your recent, completed projects as you complete and check them off your list, one at a time. As always, I wish you the best of luck with this and all of your projects, and look forward to their progress and hopeful completions! You can do it! |

Thanks for the replies, fellas. If I have some time tomorrow I'll start working on this again, right now I'm working with some broadcasting software so I can start streaming my PC games on Twitch... ____________________ My Linktree |

Personally, I'd rather see a Super Adventure Island hack, but this is alright too. |

Posted by MathUser2929 And I'd rather see you not being a disrespectful scumbag, but I can't do anything against that either. Actually, I can. I can simply report you so the admins can ban your ass. |

Posted by TrinitronityPosted by MathUser2929 There really should be a report button on this forum for things like low quality posts I mean there's not really much info in that post either. ____________________ Jamie Dignam |

There's should also be a retrieve password feature. But Acmlm ain't around to work on the board anymore, so what can you expect? |

Please stop derailing threads and attacking each other. It's not productive at all.
MathUser2929: DON'T: - Bump (post in) old or outdated threads, unless you have something meaningful to contribute. - Stick around if you hate this board. Nobody is forcing you to. - FLAME, or purposefully try to be an ass to people. - Force your opinion on others. This is a discussion board, members are entitled to their own opinions. You posted nearly 2 months after the last post simply to say that the project author should work on something else. You're entitled to your own opinion, but everyone is free to work on what they want to. If you want to see a Super Adventure Island hack, or any other specific hack, the person who should do it is the person who wants it in the first place (i.e. YOU). While you might have expressed a little support for the project, the dominant stance of your post comes across as negative against the active effort. It's not exactly encouraging for people working on projects to see their invested time and efforts get put down, especially without even any constructive criticism or valid reason. Also, if you want to request a board feature, post about it in the relevant place. Again, don't derail a project thread in another sub-forum. You should apologize to Googie for derailing his project thread, and in the future, before you post, exercise caution in what you say and how you say it. Putting a bit more effort and detail into your posts would also probably better help you express any points you want to make, and establish some depth to your posts. |

I apoligize, but the hack was on the first page right? How was I to know threads on the first page can't be responded to. |

Thank you. I believe that Googie will appreciate that.
Yes, due to the board's overall inactivity, there are quite a few sections in which threads have been inactive for months or even years, but they still might appear on the first page. However, the more important factor to consider in this case was how your post wasn't as constructive as it potentially could have been had you added more to it and/or reworded it in such a way that it wasn't interpreted as seemingly bashing the project for not being something else entirely, and not commented on for what it is and intends to be, which would most certainly prove to be more meaningful and helpful in the long run. |
