I'm not really bothering with either game at the moment, if ever, I finally decided to post my personal, horribly confusing datas ~ (Ankoku is the first Fire Emblem on the Famicom, Gaiden, the second). Some of the stuff in the notes are things I wrote for myself, and have nothing to do with the game in general :[

Starts around there. Top-most layer of text is sprite, with an overlay, as well as normal graphics thereon. Best to look in on it yourself. The backdrop (sword) is semi-compressed. The OP {$23 C0 _8} seems to be a pointer of sorts, which starts the graphics on a new line. The "_" is the new location; the game has it as odds. Ish. I'm not entirely sure, since I haven't checked it out.


=NOTE ON TEXT=
Before a NOP {;$EF}, make sure you place a "next line {/n;$ED}." Also, most Operations to load names, such as loading a character's name or weapon, or even the number of experience points, go as "LOAD" "'X'" {$EC 01/02/03/ect.}. The second byte is never really set, such as in battles. Names are $EC02 {writes character's name} while the experience is $EC01 {writes amount of experience gained}.

Basically, above your text, there's pointer saying where to look when you load a character. After putting E6 80 0_ , the game will reload a character's mug and then also skip ahead, in the text, to where the pointer points to. So E6 80 04 will point to the fourth pointer, or the fourth pointer address/location/whatever.


To open a character mug, first you must write $E6 80 0_ . The 0_ is the character to open. Since the first character is loaded before the text even starts, your first entrance should be 02.

All CRASHs seem to load the wrong pallete, or hangs before it can. I would think you'd be able to use the mugs of the crash, just as long as you don't use the name.

Before I start, it seems that the characters have their own overworld sprite, depending on who you have. I know Misen does, and I'd think everyone else you see in town and such would as well. Not too sure on others though: probably just load nothing ($00). First byte is the character pointer. Loads the mug, sprite, and name. I don't think the stats and growths are, however.

For magic using classes, I haven't found where/how the game determines which characters spells to learn. Therefore, making new mages useless. They have no spell, yet in battle use Fire, the default, I'm assuming. Sometimes, a White command appears after the battle, which proceedes to crash the game in a similiar way to the Ryuto incident.
