R-Type is a game that set the standards for side scrolling shooters. It had a unique force weapon that could attach and detach from your ship, serve as a second blaster on the screen, and could also be used as a shield to protect your ship from oncoming attacks. It also had intense alien boss battles where your ship would take on an enemies the size of the screen. This awesome game had ports made for several different consoles, but somehow never made its way over to the NES. What we got instead is a Japanese clone called Magic Dragon. Although Magic Dragon is a blatant ripoff of R-Type, the graphics were horrible in comparison. The ship was an ugly yellow, and the enemies were nothing more than genetic robots. This hack changes all of that, and turns Magic Dragon into the game it was trying to copy, R-Type. The R-9 ship was added back in place of the awful yellow one. All graphics, enemies, and bosses were changed as well. Download here.

I'm still impressed by what you can do with graphical changes, judging by your screenshots. You should work on homebrew as well as ROM hacks for the NES. Sorry for the bitching on your last ROM hack thread, though At least you bother to provide screenshots as proof what you do, unlike actual advertisers and scammers.____________________ Jamie Dignam |

I appreciate that. I'm always going to try to release a rom publicly every now and then. And I still help out any that asks. I would love to work with homebrew makers to spice up their graphics. Most homebrew I've seen, while impressive, usually lacks in the graphics deptartment. I'm always willing to help out anyone when I can, if time permits me to. |

I haven't been here in years and I just now realized you made a Cap America hack out of a suggestion of mine. I know it's too late but thanks. I don't hang around these forums anymore but if need any help with some suggestions for future projects let me know. Silver Surfer needs better love the that garbage NES game he had. |
