I think microsoft should just give us windows xp source code so we can support it.

They won't do that, and they have their reasons why, even though xp is now dead..
The programming code itself could give would be hackers a hint or too on to cripple 10.
I know of a group that reverse engineer and customizes windows os for their needs and gives it to the public.

If microsoft did give a way an os to open source, it should start out with Me and 2000.
Even though Me has its many problems, with the right tools and proper information.
It could be rebuilt and fixed up for todays people.

Me would be a good idea, especially considering it was the first one to have several features now seen (read: System Restore) and also would need fixing.

Especially making it more stable it would be a good followup to 98 SE instead of what it ended up as...
